Who are some guys that may not be household names but could be legitimate AA contenders coming out of RS in 2025-2026? The top 20 or so are all talked about regularly, but after that I haven't heard too many names that people are high on coming into their first active season.

Charlie Millard is one guy that I don't think gets discussed enough. He had a great RS campaign.

Missouri lost Crapps but still brought in a number of big boarders from the class of 2024 that I'll be interested to see.

Who are you most excited to see in their first year that others might be sleeping on?

Sonny Sasso coming off of a medical RS if that counts. If not I second Pierson Manville

I am interested to see how he does, but was he injured?  I thought he just got beat out.  Unless maybe he’s pulling a Facundo/Nagao

Technically Mason Manville could be coming off his second ORS and that spells trouble for anyone looking for cheap team points against a guy jumping up 3 weights

i am an idiot on the internet

He was injured in November, tried to come back second semester and was still banged up so they shut him down

I don’t know about under the radar but Charlie Millard from Minnesota 157 had wins over Siebrecht, Chittum and a close loss to Chumbley.

I am also curious about Jackson Arrington at NC State. He had a good season but limited competition.

NCSU has a few interesting ones with Ryan Jack as well. Thought he'd be destined for 149 but I think they really need to keep Buesgens there for their dual lineup

Brayden Thompson is who I'm looking forward to seeing how the year off and training with DT daily has helped him.  Starting as a true freshman I thought he would have been better than a 500 record due to the advertisement that was made about him in high school.

Losing to Ian Bush, James Conway, and then being teched 10-0 in the first period by Fishback at U23s doesn't give much promise that he's going to be pushing for a starting spot.

  • I'm interested to see how Aden Valencia and Jack Consiglio works out at 141lbs for Stanford as both are coming off of redshirt freshman year. I'm think both will have decent careers.
  • Mason Gibson at Rutgers piques my interest- he could have success
  • As does Jaxon Joy at Cornell - I thought he represented himself well at U20s
  • Although not new wrestler (but new to Minnesota), I hope Jore Volk does well coming off medical redshirt
  • Also Miguel Estrada at Iowa, although they pulled his redshirt (stupid), I'm still counting him here and I think he can be very good if he doesn't lose focus.

I liked Estrada last year, but I don't agree with the prevailing theory that pulling his redshirt was "stupid." We don't know what conversations were had with the kid, and why they chose to use a year of eligibility.  Did he want to wrestle? Maybe they were concerned that Teemer wasn't coming back, and they thought it was worth it to get him seasoning.  It was probably important to win a couple of those duals and he was the best option. Finally: he is part of the team and Brands is the coach, and the athletes are supposed to do what the coach says.  No one even knows what his long term future with the squad would be, especially with the way things currently are in college sports.

Is he going to start with all the guys in front of him at Ok St?

I would be all for this.  ASU has a need at 174 and 197.

Cael Valencia has a year left, although I don't know if he takes it, and he has been wrestling 79 KG (174lbs), so maybe he fills that spot next year for them.  That said, I would be for Valencia focusing on MFS (Team Mexico at 86 KG?) or some other route to finish his final year than staying at ASU.

125 - Ezekiel Witt (NDSU) - Picked up a win against AA Tanner Jordan

141- Vince Cornella (Cornell) - NQ just made the u23 team coming off a med red

141 - Alex Braun (Oklahoma) - 5th at u20, top 20 big boarder

157 - Cam Catrabone (Michigan) - Good redshirt year, really close matches with Echemendiea, askey, young

174- Brockman (Michigan) - Just took 2nd at u20s, picked up 6 NQ wins in redshirt year

Not sure if these are all under the radar types, but all had good RS campaigns and are guys I am interested in seeing on the mat on a more regular basis.

From OU both Braun and Beric Jordan had good RS seasons

Adrian Meza from ISU was ranked top 30ish at one point but I think ended up being officially shirted.

Ferrari at Iowa had a heck of a year in RS.

Aeodon Sinclair Mizzou

Manville at ASU- has had a great Spring

Kaleb Larkin- ASU

LJ Araujo- Nebraska

Cody Merrill- Oklahoma State

ASU has a 184 Aziz that got hurt early but he is fun to watch for sure

Cael Swenson 157/165 SDSU

For SDSU I also expect Brady Roark 125 to be tough and Logan Swenson 133 to push for a spot. If he beats out Cardinal, he could be a underdog to look for.

Tom Crook 141 VT

Luke Geogg (injury not redshirt) 197 tOSU

Cael Hughes (injury not redshirt) 141 OSU

Max Brignola 165 Lehigh (wend undefeated in redshirt last year notably beating Julian Ramirez)

Greg Diakomihalis (injury not redshirt) 125 Cornell

Whoever wins the 184 spot at UNI between Gunderson and Walrath

Gavin Nelson 197 Minnesota

Christian Carrol 285 Wyoming

I've seen about all I can see from Brayden Thompson. I doubt he factors in this season.
