I think it is possible Jamison's output increases a lot without having to pull as much weight as he does. I think his strength will likely also translate just looking at Levi this year. If you aren't glycogen depleted for months, you're going to be stronger.

I agree. I was looking forward to seeing him at 149 before Swiderski came along. Still kind of hope he competes for that spot even if it's not the best for the overall lineup

I would argue Fig is a very good get for 33 and it will help him now going up a weight class and the room/coaches.

I would also argue Hughes will benefit from going up a weight class, if not two.   He is a good wrestler but the cut obviously affected his overall performances.

I think it may be competitive in the room, but I don't see them even being in the same tier in terms of NCAA scoring potential.

I don't see any reason to think that. In their most recent tournaments, Swiderski scored 7.5 team points. Tagen scored 5.5 team points  Swiderski faced the 14 seed in the blood round. Tagen faced the 4 seed.

Comparing apple to oranges there. Different tournaments and different weights. I think Swiderski is top 4 next year. I think Jamison is R12 maybe 7-8 type.

I think there is a real world where Robideau is there best guy for 157 next year. That kid is really really good I think he gets a little overshadowed by the rest of the 2025 class.

I think Jamison is definitely a candidate to go up two weight classes. I have heard multiple interviews where guys talk about him being the strongest person they have ever wrestled. It would not surprise me to see a much better version of Cael Hughes up a weight where he is not so depleted.

125- Sprately

133- Figs

141 - Hughes

149 - Swiderski

157- Jamison

165- Dee

174- Facundo / Thompson

184 - Ryder / Thompson

197 - Merrill

285 - Doucet

I could see that.

I think any guy who got majored in R24 to a guy who failed to place isn't that great a "get", I don't care if he won 20 age level world titles in FS. I'm thinking HEW, that's the only thing that can account for a guy going from NCAA champ (albeit a weak one) to 1-2 and out at R24. As my old wrestling coach used to say "maybe he's been reading the press clippings about how great he is". I've already stated outright that Cael Hughes will smoke Figs at 133 and that I don't think it's a good get. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

Think of Figueroa as a likely value buy. At the end of 2024 he would have been a very pricey pick up in the portal. After 2025, not so much. Sure, he had a rough tournament, but he still represents a big upgrade over whoever else they have in the room.

Wow... a former NCAA champ, quite possibly, riding the bench?

Is Hughes a lateral jump for Jamison?  I imagine in-season Jamison would put out better results, but B12/NCAA, multiple weigh-in Jamison isn't the same as in-season, so is Hughes up at a better weight for him a lateral jump?

I'm really curious to see what Hughes looks like both healthy and at a more natural weight. However, the results this year didn't support that he's a lateral move, let alone upgrade from Jamison.

same situation at 141 as 157 to me I think they have guys that can go in and do fine maybe even low AA, but their true freshman may just be the best option referring to Vega.

You don't really know much about wrestling, do you?  Are you saying losing in the B1G finals is equal to not even making the finals in the Big 12?? And you are saying a guy who didn't even make R16, and furthermore EMBARRASSED himself badly at NCAAs, is on par with Hamiti, whose worst performance was R12?

OSU already has Cael Hughes, who will absolutely smoke Figs at 133, and Spratley is already better at 125.

Yeah, OSU screwed up if they offered Figs more than $3 to come try out for the team.

I think others have well spelled out my point by now.

Also, to suggest I don't know much about wrestling to then go on and suggest that the backup to Witcraft (who didn't qualify for NCAAs) would absolutely smoke Figs at 133 is pretty ironic.. it's commonly understood that Hughes wasn't truly a 133 pound this year, and won't attempt to compete there again next season.

They seem pretty comparable to me.  Jamison literally only lost to All-Americans this year, and beat the guy that got 2nd as well as a previous champ.

FWIW wrestlestat has Jamison #4 and Swiderski #10 at 149

I think anyone would argue that. I think you can go and find guys like...wasn't Greg Jones knocked the year he didn't win it in the Rd of 16 or 24?

Things happen. The kid has won a Title.

You don't get worse adding National Champions...

Yes, at 141. The jury is out on how he'd do at 149. We have a good idea of where Swiderski is at 149.

I just went back to Swiderski's wrestlestat for the 2023-2024 season.. I did not realize how consistent he was. I thought he had a few more random losses in there. He really had a great season and I'd view him as an immediate title threat this season if he's fully healthy.

I can't see Swiderski beating Henson or SVN. I could see him in tier 2.

If Henson and SVN are Tier 1, then Swiderski is Tier 3.  I don't see him beating either of them either, right now.  Not after a botched cut to 141lbs that caused injury.  Let's see how he recovers first, as well as what weight he will go.

I think his best win is a SV win over Ty Watters, and then a month later he got majored by Watters in the tournament
