Wait, what?

Ryder to OSU is not confirmed, yet.  All this is stemming from Ramos posting "Should have bought UNC stock when you could."  I would have assumed AJ, because there have been "AJ to announce soon" posts going around, too.

Then Cenzo posts "Things are happening" with a quote of Ramos' original post.  With Cenzo's ties to Penn State, it leads me to believe that Ryder to UNC is possible.

All paraphrasing, of course.

Edit: Twitter post(s) for context:

100% for sure.

but now is a great time to show everybody what kind of person you are. You can fold like a cheap Chinese suit or you step up to the challenge as inspirational music plays and you let everybody know you ain’t gonna be pushed around.

the schools looking to pick him up should be asking themselves if he has what it takes.

LOL I'm more sure than ever now.  He values loyalty and won't take disloyalty from people who are supposed to be in his corner.  I think he means to enact some vengeance.

I do not think PSU was trying to be "malicious" bc they have gotten away with this in the past, but I think there may have been some miscalculation with a dash of hubris.  This isn't how they wanted it to go.

FWIW Cenzo loves Ferrari.  This was evident when AJ was on Basch following AJ's freshman season.  He clearly knew AJ, likely from Bo and/or AJ PSU recruiting visit.

It is either AJ or Ryder going to UNC.

If Ryder goes to OKST their roster will be at 43 not including two in the portal. That seems significant...:classic_unsure:

UNC does not have partners for Ryder or AJ I guess Cenzo for Ryder. I love coach Koll and I am sure he will build something great I just do not see in the short term how going there is good for either guy. Anything is probably an improvement from AJ's previous training situation so that seems like a fine landing spot for him but Ryder would really perplex me.

I mean... Ryder and AJ would be partners together - in Koll's perfect world.

That’d be interesting if AJ considering both AJ & Terukina have had off the mat issues.  I guess Koll thinks he can rehab them

I wonder how this is going to go down for the schools who have way more than 30?  Especially since only a fraction of the guys at risk of being cut are in the portal.

One possibility is some guys are transferring but not using the portal to do it.  There's very few guys who aren't good enough to make the 30-man roster cut, but still good enough to attract a scholarship offer from another school.  So for those guys, if they really want to wrestle, can't they just forego the portal and transfer to another school where they think they can walk-on and make the team?

Another possibility is the schools are devising a workaround, so there won't actually be any cuts. Back in the day, my college coach walked in one day and said "Due to Title IX we have to cap our roster.  It won't impact you, but from now on, half of you will be on the varsity team, and half on our newly-created club team. We'll all practice together." Everyone shrugged and went back to practicing. It literally had zero impact. Guys who were starters or spot-starters stayed varsity, other were on club, and they'd swap back and forth as needed. Nothing more than an accounting gimmick.  Can schools like USU do the same thing now?  For example, can Taylor tell these guys, "you're now on the RTC but we'll all keep practicing together as before" and nothing else changes?  I'm reading there's no exceptions to the roster caps, but... I wonder.

If I'm wrong, then I guess some guys might just quit or get cut next year.

I know there has been a lot of speculation that he could commit looks like it happened.

Hmm I don't think that 250-follower account is getting official breaking information that no one else has gotten in the 2 hours since they posted it

It's assumed that programs will setup their own NIL deals with athletes if the House settlement is finalized as planned. Most departments are already making anticipatory moves and signing MOUs with recruits now. Third-party collectives and direct sponsorship NIL can continue to co-exist with the new framework.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6197275/2025/03/14/college-football-transfer-portal-nil-contract-buyout-clauses/

Also, about getting details of NIL transactions out in the open: there are pending bills in congress right now that include reporting of NIL deals (among other reforms), sanitized of personal information, to provide athletes with a better idea of their fair market value. Agents are now becoming a thing in college sports, and since none of this is well-regulated with little to no uniformity, a lot of kids are expect outrageous numbers and end up signing predatory deals disguised as high-interest loans, or that take a cut of the athletes future pro salary, and who knows what else.

Correction to my previous post, NIL deals coming from boosters and similar collectives could be prohibited. It depends on what happens on Monday's House settlement hearing. It looks like the P4 conferences are creating its own LLC and proposing that it be the entity that enforces NIL, salary cap, and investigations within its own subdivision of the NCAA. Under their proposal, collectives would have strict limits for NIL deals. Everything is still up in the air though, and many seem to doubt that the judge will approve terms of the settlement on Monday. So who knows.
