I'm on my phone so not sure if the link will display with the timestamp correctly. If not, go to the 1:08.05 mark. To me it looks very clearly like brands is holding up 3 and then supinates his hand. You can still see the pinky if you pause right at that moment.

The way I remember it from undergrad anatomy and physiology - - supinate is what you would do with your wrist to hold a bowl of soup in your palm

Yeah, that was shameful. I was hoping that, after the "cheating lying sons of b!tche$", debacle several years ago somebody in the administration would talk to the coaches about their over the top antics. Looks like nobody who matters cares

Looks like he just turned his hand while holding the 3 fingers out.  Pretty cool little optical illusion, actually. I knew Brands was magic!

He didn't.

It is a bit of an optical illusion. At 1:08:05 he is clearly holding up three with his last three fingers and his palm facing away. At 1:08:06 he turns his palm facing in while still holding up three. But the camera angle is such that his middle finger mostly blocks the view of the other two fingers. But if you freeze frame it you can still see at least the pinky sticking up also. 

No bird. Final answer.
