As opposed to what Missouri is doing to keep up? Isn't the portal a good thing for the athletes?

Missouri has no where near the funds to play a bidding war for AA transfers with Iowa, OKST, and Penn State. Ohio State hasn't even been able to bring in a big transfer in the NIL era. I'm sure there is someone, but who are some returning AAs that have transferred to somewhere other than PSU, Michigan, Iowa, or OKST?

Beard to Lehigh is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

I forget when NIL started, but since 2022 there has also been Sebastian Rivera, Evan Wick, Brayton Lee if we’re counting any prior year, and Buchanan the first time.

I’d be curious to know how many returning AA’s have even transferred at all though in the last few years.  I don’t think it’s a huge number (which would be even less without the free covid year), and I think the top 3 or 4 teams would have been more likely to get them even without NIL.  There have been plenty of guys AA after transferring to schools that aren’t one of those 4 though (they just hadn’t done it before transferring).

I’m betting Ferrari Sr and Earl Woods would have a lot to talk about.

It would be a one way conversation.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

Colleges literally are not the ones funding NIL.

And I said that where? Maybe you would have preferred if I said, "Missouri's boosters/NIL investors can't compete in a bidding war."

If you include the Ferrari bros this makes 11 wrestlers that were in the Iowa room last year that are now on rosters elsewhere.

And none of them would’ve started for Iowa this year.

Six of the guys that transferred were at 149/157. Iowa currently have 9 guys on the roster in those weight classes. If no one transferred out or moved on there would be 15 guys at 149/157. The most notable transfers are Siebrecht/Rhodes/Glazier and none of them had a clear path to starting.

Joel Jesuroga transferred to St. Cloud St (D2) where he is currently ranked #5 at 157 (he did just beat #1 so he will likely jump in the rankings)

Bretli Reyna transferred to Chattanooga where he is currently a backup 149

Cade Siebrecht transerred to SDSU and is currently a backup at 149

Cobe Siebrecht transferred to SDSU and is currently ranked #28 at 157

Carter Martinson transferred to Central Iowa (D3) and is currently unranked at 157

Carson Martinson transferred to Central Iowa (D3) and is currently unranked at 157

Drake Rhodes transferred to SDSU and is currently ranked #10 at 165

Aidan Riggins transferred to ISU and is currently unranked at 165/174

Zach Glazier transferred to SDSU and is currently ranked #15

I thought Jesuroga retired.  He would make 12.  Bradley Hill also transferred to Oklahoma.  Then the two Ferraris.

You are thinking of Nate Jesuroga who retired as a high school senior or junior that was committed to Iowa. Good catch on Hill. I missed him.

You are ignoring the role the Iowa AD played in the Ferrari fiasco. AJ is never going back to Iowa.

It surprised me that the Hawkeyes pulled down Angelo when I heard they dropped AJ. Obviously he's wrestling great. I wonder if he's going to transfer somewhere else after this season, or if he stays at Iowa because he likes the program and the Sr level training there?

There is another Ferrari on the way, right?
