I hope he finds a place to wrestle this season. Maybe he needs to be quick drive away from his parents.

Anyone see any reasons for why he gave up on Iowa State?

Pure speculation, but wondering if he wanted to move up to heavyweight next year and Bastida getting a medical redshirt put a damper on that

Especially with the OSU dual this weekend.  Maybe he didn't want to wrestle Surber again.

I think he committed to 4  and  enrolled at 2 - UPenn, Illinois,  Oklahoma State, Iowa State

Pretty much the same as Kerk.  Except Kerk ended up staying a long time at the second school he enrolled in.

(Kerk: Minnesota, Oklahoma State, enrolled at tOSU, settled at PSU... correct?)

I think there were a bunch of transfer issues with him in high school too.

Correction:  I was wrong, not "a bunch."  I think below is more accurate.

  • 9th grade- injured
  • 10th grade- not eligible due to transfer rules
  • 11th grade- state champ
  • 12th grade- elected not to compete in high school wrestling

Do you know why he left Okie St.  First I assumed it was because of Hendrickson and then he chooses Iowa State and drops to 197.

Report was he liked the existing coaches, wasn't happy about a new coach, seemed pretty tight with Perry.  Perry was coaching him at Vegas although not from official coach corner but from mat edge.

not a bad guess but what does that have to do with this year?

Christian is a really good kid. obviously he's a little ... idk ... flighty but i got a soft spot for him.

he has/had some family issues that haven't been the smoothest.

Agreed. You want to root for people like him.

Carroll couldn't even beat Doucet, let alone Hendricksen. I wonder why he picked OSU in the first place.

9th - Penn HS

10th - New Prairie HS

11th - New Prairie HS

12th - Transferred to Jimtown HS (something said about being closer to a relative?), but then elected not to complete in HS not sure if eligibility became a factor again.

hopefully he can find what works for him. Obviously a super talented wrestler seems to have not just been able to find the right environment and maybe even weight.

If I was Carroll I'd find a minor D1 conference that has weaklings at HWT and I'd transfer to one of that conference's schools and quietly qualify for NCAAs.

He tweeted "MY COACH" or something when Coleman didn't get the job. He transferred shortly after.

As opposed to going somewhere with a good program and riding the bench?

That matches up if he is at a new school in a few days. Otherwise this has nothing to do with this season, although his feelings might be hurt that the coaches might've told him he would be heavyweight next year and now they are going back on that.
