After listening to the BEG podcast featuring Ferrari, it sounds like this might actually happen.  Ferrari looked incredible against Iowa State. Does he have a shot at beating Starocci?

Am I the only one that’s surprised that people seem to be assuming Ferrari is better than Arnold based off one 8-2 win over a guy that is 2-6 in 3 trips to NCAA’s?

I doubt either has a shot against Starocci, but I feel like Arnold has just as good a shot, maybe better

I think it would make sense.  Tom had kueter wrestle kerk and Arnold wrestle plott to get a good feel during redshirt. It also doesn't hurt arnolds seed letting Ferrari wrestle Starocci.

No, I have been wondering the same thing. But the way the topic has been discussed on FRL, CP seems to think that using Ferrari in the dual is the correct move as well. I don't know if he's heard talk about what happens in the room, or if the assumption is that Arnold cannot beat Starocci, and that because we haven't seen Ferrari lose to anyone in so long, that his ceiling is somewhat unknown at this point.

Fair enough.  Speaking of CP, I’d gotta agree with him when he said that if they end up using Ferrari in the postseason that it was a monumental mistake to not use Arnold last year.  That almost surely gets them a trophy, and possibly 2nd.  That said, I do think Ferrari stays in redshirt.  He does speak highly of the Brands so don’t think he’ll necessarily be upset if he doesn’t start this year.  He’s also probably already getting the highest NIL offer anyway so not like he could get more elsewhere.  Using him in the PSU dual could give him his shot at Starocci though (and save a loss for Arnold who would still have a shot in the postseason)

Yeah I could see them using Ferrari against PSU for that reason if they think Ferrari is about even with Arnold.  I’m still surprised they used him against ISU though…maybe that’s why people are assuming Ferrari must be better…

I thought we were talking that match where Cstar bumps up and takes on the Focus not whipn' on the little brother.

That's what I thought at first too.  Might be the only time I would ever pull for AJ.

I give him a legitimate 1% chance.

The fact that they sent Ferrari out in a must win match in a tight dual tells me that he is the better wrestler. They say that he holds his own against Buchanan in the room.

You'd root for an alleged 'r' word over a punk?

Doesn't seem ethically correct.

Holding his own is fine and dandy.  He was still 165lbs this last spring.  You don't add >20lbs of function-able muscle in six months.

I don't see how he is near the size he needs to be to keep it close to Starocci.

Someone’s heel is going to touch their headgear in that match.

And it’s not Starocci.

I see Starocci winning, and likely the margin is greater the more active his opponent is.  I certainly see a 6 point win as very likely.  That being said, I don't think anyone's heel is touching their head.  How many top 10 type guys, other than injured/HEW Mekhi, has Carter physically tortured over the course of his career?  He was so mad that Wrestle Stat #78 Wilt tried in a match against him that he cost PSU a team point.  In Carter's world, a "grave urination" is a 2-0 victory.

And this post made me remember beloved HOF poster, the departed Morris Johnson.  He had a great story about the time he wrestled Dave Schultz in an exhibition and Schultz bent leg turked him to the point where he could see his own foot and he thought it was Dave's.

Carter will be the bigger wrestler. I think Angelo was 165 for Ironman last year and then finished the year as a 175 pound state champ. Carter finished the year as a 174 pound national champ.

If we are to believe the stories about AJ's off the mat conduct I consider this to be quite the statement.

I have never seen a guy with Starocci's credentials be so disrespected. First it was the NLWC All-Star meet where everyone was picking PK to beat him. Now this first year starter is going to beat a 4X NCAA champ?

Starocci is likely not losing this year and getting his 5th title. No first year starter is going to beat him. I say this as a Penn State fan who thinks Carter is an absolute turd and when he leaves PSU I will stop rooting for him all together.
