This will always be my favorite song about moving to Austin (language NSFW, I have never been to Austin so can’t speak to it’s accuracy)

Well I wanted to see Nolf make a Senior World team one of these days, but I guess his career is going to take a different direction. Congratulations and best of luck.

I grew up in Austin. All these things are true, it’s very expensive, traffic is awful, city politics have a certain progressive streak that makes homeless communities an issue.

This started to get bad 15 years ago or so. Then when Covid hit it became extreme because you had Silicon Valley money buying up everything. Now it’s just a money city, a lot of the things that made it so desirable have just seen huge demand and competition that it’s not the same. For example, SXSW used to be this great film festival where you could just show up to the theatre and see some off the wall Indy film. Now it’s a huge “event” that you’ll never be able to go to if you didn’t buy ahead for a a lot of money. Lots of these upscale restaurants have sprouted up and they aren’t even good. Even BBQ is corporate.

My brother and his wife still live there and it’s still decent enough if you have enough money, but they complain about it.

But to be clear, Round Rock north of Austin and a suburb. Some of that stuff, like rising home prices, have spilled into Round Rock, but not to the same degree.

I worry for Wkn, with the mass exodus from NLWC & Penn St will the Creamery stay in business?

sounds like competing is getting de-prioritized.

At least in wrestling.  He may very well be working towards the MMA route.

A friend in LA is going to a BJJ clinic next weekend and asked if I knew who Jason Nolf was. He's doing a 2-hour workshop on wrestling takedowns for BJJ. $150 a pop.

Not talking about you, of course.

Nolf made a horrible decision. He beat JB in the Olympic Team Trials, and he could have beaten him and represented the US in this Worlds. He would have had a better chance than JB, and he could very well have taken gold at 79kg. Why would he bail after the Olympic Team Trials? Did he think we was going to win that US$1 million in the grappling tournament when his wrestling experience doesn't translate well into a submission sport?

Not sure why it needs to be said, but Nolf > Burroughs at 74 KG =/= Nolf over Burroughs at 79 KG.  Nolf has shown that he lacks the horse at 79 KG  that JB does not lack.
