Several ailing Penn State wrestlers on the mend, according to Cael Sanderson

“These guys are in great shape and just their core temperature is, on average, lower than the general population. A small spike in their temperature is different than somebody who’s just coming in off the street"

Is that a thing? If so, I was not aware of it.

Drowning in data, but thirsting for knowledge

It’s a “thing” to Cael and company and that’s all that matters as they get ready to steamroll their competition. Just sit back and marvel at a team who knows how to WIN.

That is kind of fake stuff slipped in to make Kyle Dake feel like he's having an impact on the staff.

With Cael you never know if he's trolling because it can be so subtle.

I Don't Agree With What I Posted

Physiologically, yes, this is a thing, no different from cyclists having extremely low heart rates.  Body temperature management has a big impact on metabolism and cardiovascular performance.  It is not ridiculous at all to think that core temperature management is part of the things that Cael and co are working on.  In 20 years when somebody finally writes the book on the recipe in that room, we will look back on what they have built/are building the same way much of sports science looks back on old soviet methods today, absolutely pioneering and decades ahead of their time.

In the FLO doc on the Buckeyes, they wore rings that monitored vitals ie heart rate, temp, distance, etc. I know the Premier League has their athletes wear something that tracks similar stats/vitals. Wonder if PSU has/does the same.

They have a guy in California that tells them what their vitals should be. If they don't listen, he has a novel voodoo doll therapy that he can fall back on.

Haha yeah the only way PSU shocks the world in March is if they don’t win the tournament!

Guy in California who seems to have a somewhat cultish following and engages in pseudo-scientific practices, and has had methods and "supplementation " practices come into question.

Let's put it this way... he arouses suspicion in the MMA world...

Are we talking about the same guy? I was referring to the person that Gilman says magically healed his foot. I don't know much else about him

I'm talking about Coach Cal from the Treigning Lab, but I have often wondered if that was Gilman's Voodoo practitioner.

PSU and the NLWC both have memberships with the Treigning Lab.  So did TJ Dillashaw, when he tested positive for EPO during his horrific weight cut.

So they are juicing?  That explains it.

Taking EPO during a weight cut is the last thing, literally, that anyone should be doing.

Increased RBC counts that literally thicken your blood, coupled with a dramatically reduced blood plasma volume. The heart pumping soup through your body. Jesus. That’s the sort of mind blowing stupid shit that kills people in their sleep.

Says the guy with the 85 VO2 max!

https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2019/04/duane-ludwig-sam-calavitta-tj-dillashaws-usada-failure-inexcusable-epo-ex-ufc-champ-drug-test-steroids

Just know these guys talk about "Coach Cal" as if he were the Messiah; they would never put anything into their bodies that he didn't recommend.

P.S. Best part of the "Coach Cal" press release is he calls himself a "man of few words" and then proceeds to use far too many words and butchers standard conventions of written English repeatedly.

Ironically, I had the same coach as not one but two guys who were popped for doping. And, they had both been on the same amateur team as me. Not at the same time but a couple years prior.

I have to ask: do you think ALL of the athletes Sam Calavita trains are doping? Helen Maroulis, for example? Or just the Penn State/NLWC athletes?
