Republican Oversight Committee rejects Hunter Biden's request to give his testimony in public

And there will be sunlight.   Hunter is trying to circumvent the subpoena.  Congress dictates the terms, not the person under subpoena.

As noted in the Turley article:

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., quickly disabused Hunter of the point of the subpoena and said that he will indeed appear in a private session before a public hearing. That is precisely what the Democrats have done, including with dozens of witnesses in the January 6th committee.

So why is this a problem?   Because D's know what they did under similar circumstances with regard to leaks and such and are wary the same will happen here.   And they are concerned about what could happen.   Too bad.

Disingenuous argument.  Won’t take yes for an answer.

Spin away, boys.  Bannon, Jim Jordan et al all literally refused any questioning at all, and that was ok.  Now Hunter Biden is literally offering himself up to you in public and you're like "nah, we need this behind closed doors".  This is not a criminal trial.  Meanwhile the committee of Republican bulldogs is afraid that ol' crackhead Hunter Biden will slap them around in a public hearing?  Nah, they'd rather have it behind doors where it can be leaked out piecemeal and spun without any context.  Truly amazing times.

Rank hypocrisy at its best. This is another boogie man to rile up the base and keep the donations flowing.

If you know right from wrong, if you are a hard working American, If you provide for your family and you pay your bills you are a person of privilege.

....I believe he is saying Hunter Biden is a person of privilege, you weirdos, lol.  Even if you don't believe in "white privilege", are you now claiming that Hunter Biden is not a person of privilege?

You are a voice of reason. - @Paul158

The private depositions have one hour turns at questioning instead of the five minute intervals of the public hearings.  Depositions can run for days, however long it takes.  Transcripts can be released as long as sensitive or otherwise legally protected information is excluded.

I believe that is the key .Legally protected information can be discussed . Also the 1 hour turns could be an issue for Hunter and his lawyers. I assume his lawyers will be there. Correct? The bottom line if Hunter gets charged and convicted will his dad just pardon him?

Still unknown.  Seems there are some dims who are ticked at the Biden’s behavior and might be willing to let Hunter bear the consequences.  It’s still unlikely they’ll lose anything more than their reputation, which is like an award or promotion for dims.

I have been wondering why Joe would run for president again.  Does he love his son enough to retire?  Does he love his son enough to stay in office and pardon him?

The GOP may be slow playing… drip… drip… as political strategy.  Wait to act closer to the election… ensure Biden is running again to assure victory.

Maybe they will put on a sabbatical leave for a year or so. That way Newsom can swoop in and save the day,

First of all the shit ( sorry ) would hit the fan. It would make theatre watching the spin coming from the liberal media and diversity groups. Kamala might have to come down with some strange medical condition.

well, we definitively know now what the 10% for the big guy was.

not only was that phrase in an email, but the money (400k in hunter's and 40k in Joe's) were in their bank accounts.

chalk up another conspiracy theory come true.

The balloon flew for 4 or 5 thousand miles across Alaska and Canada before it arrived in the lower 48. It flew across zero population centers for 5000 miles and we did nothing. Now if it had a MAGA banner or reelect Trump banner, it  would have been shot down immediately .

Do you mean like the three that flew over the US during the previous administration?

Bloomberg reported Sunday, citing a senior administration official, that the U.S. didn’t learn about the prior balloon flights until after Trump had left the White House.”
