Leg grabbing is nowhere near as competitive as Greco…

why can’t you nerds just accept this instead keeping your heads firmly buried in the sand???

look at the team race for U23 right now… it is never that close in free… ever

Not in the US unfortunately since most of our top guys don’t do it

They would get smashed if they did like every other time it has been tried…

because the top guys in our country chose to specialize in Greco young and if they had not and chose the far easier style then some of you nerds would have heard of them…

So soon you will explain why the “top guys” have  been failing in the USA at Greco for like 20+ years given your extensive knowledge

It has been explained to you several times previously…

you just can’t let any other thoughts in your tiny little world…

you should just go back to the NWT basement…

Constantly talking shit about something you know absolutely nothing about just shows how miserable a person you have to be…

It has been said repeatedly but you won’t accept anything that doesn’t fit into your tiny little world…

you don’t like Greco , fine…

you know nothing about Greco, fine…

why would you continue to make comments about it?

just a miserable nerd…

go back to NWT…

that’s your jam…

The drop off can be directly correlated to when HS wrestlers quit wrestling Greco and free every summer…

Well I did not know this. When the U.S. Open was being held at the South Point they would have the Western Regional going on at the same time, and it seemed like there were a thousand kids competing. But I am out of the loop so who knows.

Huge brackets in both Greco and leg grabbing at the south point…

was there many many times…

By the last year of cadets it starts to weed out when the leg grabbers realize they can not just casually walk in and win even in America much less internationally…

that number keeps dropping through junior years in HS and by the last year of U20 hardly anyone is making a Greco team unless they are very dedicated to Greco…

by seniors no leg grabber can make a team no matter how good Flo tells the nerds they are…

Yet, some kids still make it, and I hope that we see a new renaissance of talent, like Snyder and Burroughs. We have young kids like the Jax Forrest’s and many others, too many to name really, that hopefully will prevail. But it’s like any sport, every little kid dreams about being in the Big Leagues, yet so very few make it.

Jax wouldn’t even do a Greco roll with Otto several years ago much less a practice or a match…

we will always a steady stream of leg grabbers based purely on population and resources and it’s just easier internationally…

Imagine the levels of cope going through LJB's head right now

He's convinced himself that his sons are superior to Jax Forrest because Jax once snubbed them in a practice room

This comes less than 24 hours after both sons got knocked out of a major tournament in front of a crowd of three dozen people

I repeat: no one will ever pay to watch LJB's sons wrestle Greco

Lack of talent; lack of training opportunities; lack of leadership.

Maybe the leadership is good now?  I really do not know, but it has certainly suffered in recent years.

I don't think you can blame the USA Greco people. They send full teams to all the major events (many other countries federations do not). Their realm is more paperwork, bureaucratic, logistics for camps worlds etc, setting up the process for team selection. It's not their place to directly develop medalists. That's beyond their capabilities. To be great I think you need an adequately sized pool of talented athletes (probably motivated parents) and multiple men like Viktor Kuznetsov/Greco versions of Ben Askren who have dedicated their lives to working with and developing wrestlers on a day to day basis.

I think Iran would be an interesting case study in how they catapulted from middling nation to a greco superpower in a relatively short time frame. I have my guesses.

According to the Flobrackets; USA finished w/ 2 points and is currently in 24th place

Sigh

I don't think 24 teams even sent full squads. A terrible result.

having dealt with USAW pretty closely for over a decade, I can 100% lay some blame on them…

but it is mostly an entire wrestling culture in this country that actively works against Greco that is the main issue…

This ignorance on regular display on this silly forum is a microcosm of a much bigger problem that includes those who are actually involved with wrestling that push wrestlers away from Greco…

Zane Richards made the national team despite not wrestling much Greco for 10+ years.  Also, interesting that now your bar seems to making the team (maybe even the world team not just the national team?) when before you were whining about me defining “top wrestler” as making the national team…

Did he say something like this is the best team we’ve ever had ?

Their losses were

9-0

pin

10-0

8-0

12-3

pin

6-3

8-0

9-0

mostly techs or pins

I was gonna say this. The last match for all of our guys was losing by a large margin.

Iran always had greco wrestlers we had medalled a couple times in the 80s and 90s but nothing to the extent that is present now. Iran brought some Russian coaches in and developed a whole system up from the top down which is why our greco is much more diverse in terms of talent development. Although it is largely centred in the southern provinces (Khuzestan and Fars) there are guys from Mazandaran and Tehran who make teams every now and then. It also helps when most of the top greco nations (Cuba, Russia etc) have fallen off a cliff in terms of talent development. It would honestly be quite tough selling greco to the US purely because it isn't really transferable to college wrestling. That is the major reason as to why you guys can't develop/retain greco talent. If NCAA had greco you guys would be as good as you guys are in freestyle.

How did altomer looked as compared to how he has previously?

crosby?

who got injured in their match?

who made a stupid mistake?

I can't say how anyone looked versus prior results. I just look at it as a whole. I can't remember how many guys went 0-1 last year, but I do know we got a few medals and a fifth. I can't gauge the level of their opponents because I don't recognize names like I do in freestyle.

I saw your son hurt his ribs. Is he ok?

Stupid mistakes? Hard to say. Can you tell me? Many of them lost their second match by a large margin, I saw maybe half of them.

But they tried really hard; that is all that matters.

Not sure what happened to 'training to be the best in the world.'
