Mir drops her quarterfinal 7 - 5 to Japan; was leading 5-4 late and gave up a score

Looked like she just, "gave up" to me.

That position seemed to last forever.  I kept expecting a restart, and it felt like she did too. Obviously she eventually gave up the takedown, but I need to rewatch to see how long they were in that position to reset my mind.  I'm probably wrong but I remember watching and saying, 'why isn't the ref restarting them?'

It went way too long. She still gave up and turned down with less than 3 seconds.

I think he showed his ass a bit when he said their goal is to win "a medal" in 2028

Not multiple medals, not gold medals, just...a medal

Well, I don’t know where we stand as a National program, but I am sure that we are near the base of a very large mountain, and it’s going to take quite a bit to get to the top. So who knows when we can accomplish this. But for this tournament I know that we eventually got outclassed, but we did take some positive steps forward.

From the video posted above from our coach, I agree with him. We had 11 wins to 10 losses, and normally we don’t have that many wins in a tournament like this. While it is true that we all wanted better results, but if you told me that before this tournament started that we would get 11 wins, I would have thought cool. I believe that this tournament is a positive, and hopefully we can build from this.

There are two major problems with this, unfortunately:

1) This was only U23.  Though the field has gotten much better, traditionally it is the weakest least important of the age groups.

2) It was a "home game."  The US (and others) tend to do much better wrestling at home.

Who actually watched the matches and can intelligently discuss what they saw?

I only saw almost every USA wrestler exit the tourney via tech or pinfall.   90% of them specifically

in the weakest age group out there too.  U23

Says the guy who hides behind a screen name and can't hold honest conversations and continually reverts to the same tired playbook.

YOU are an anonymous nerd as well.

Not to mention very very emotional and deep in your feelings and looking to lash out at anyone after taking a day off from the forum.

You just do not have the wrestling experience to understand…

that does not make you unique here at all…

You just don’t have the experience to speak intelligently on this level of wrestling…

you should stick to comments on MS JV duals…
