Thank you. Seeming to turn out we got pretty lucky right where I’m at. Kept falling in those little gaps you see in the circulation. Whole lot of flooding and tornadoes pretty close to me but we made out good in my neighborhood. Frankly, I’ll take it, haven’t been on the good side of luck when it comes to natural forces in a bit!

Center is a couple hours passed, but as you can see have a day or more of gusts and lots of rain ahead. Should make landfall in a couple hours just southeast of Florida State, going to cause a whole lot of problems, and on into Georgia. It’s going to wreak some havoc well past Atlanta, and broadened out. She is a doozy. It stayed far enough west it wasn’t too bad in my neighborhood but some areas around town got serious flooding and a couple tornadoes. Tornadoes still a watch through tomorrow night. Chillin with the pups and a glass of wine

I don’t have the units tied down but I just went out and weighted them down with cynder blocks, and the whole surface is surrounded to about waist high with concrete (docking and stacks of blocks). Should be okay. 11:00 run had another little bump to the east so we’re going to have some higher winds than expected yesterday. Downtown Fort Myers and fort Myers beach are getting some serious flooding.

So far this morning we are just in between bands, which is a good storm for 30-60 minutes, then clears up...rinse and repeat. Peak weather for me will be between 2-5pm. There have been a couple tornadoes in the area this morning and expecting some more. Decided yesterday to leave the bbq area in place, may end up regretting that decision....

According to Trump today, Ukraine isn't even a country anymore, doesn't exist, and its all Ukraine's fault....so good news, shouldn't have to go to WW3

How to think critically about what the media is telling you?

Thanks Paul. Right now we are a little bit east of the center track. Close enough that we're going to get a good, long storm, (they are calling for the storm to be 400 miles wide by time it gets to our latitude) but far enough that we shouldn't get any major damage. Everyone around here on edge though because 1) flooding is big concern and 2) this storm's set up, timing, progress, and beginning tracks are all very similar to Ian a couple years ago. Was looking to hit the same area, at about the same distance out, but from this point kept ticking east. We went to bed, on Wednesday night, thinking it was going to land a couple hours north of us. Woke up to catch the 5am update and responded with "oh ***duck**". So a lot of people triggered around here. That said, where we are at we should be relatively okay. Storm surge to the north of us (Tampa area) I think is going to be the big thing to look out for. -
How to think critically about what the media is telling you?

This is where these conversations get to the burn out point for me. At nowhere did I say anything about being okay with AOC, or anyone, censoring me or anyone else. I’ll leave it at what I said. Take it as you will. -

I say I don’t find certain lies, and certain people lying, unacceptable while being okay with others. I say I am against it all, and have no problem with lies that damage others being reigned it, as that is not an element of freedom. -

I don’t understand why anyone would be against reigning in misinformation. Freedom of speech does not include causing damage and consequences to others through lies. -
Neil DeGrasse, who....is a pretty smart guy.....has a pretty interesting (and funny) take on this whole thing.

How to think critically about what the media is telling you?

In all seriousness, that’s pretty powerful stuff. If we take a page from the poster above, who’s referenced another posters stance on “you don’t hate the media enough”…..let’s throw all media garb out the window. All of it, including the bites that register with our confirmation bias and make us feel good about it….throw all media out the window, and just listen to the people truly in the know. You have these 740 national security officials, you have over 100 former Republican national security advisers last week, you have the majority of his previous cabinet…..all saying NO! This guy for president is really a bad idea. So when it really comes down to it, you can listen to what the media and cool people on Twitter are telling you, or you can listen to the people that have had their actual fingers on things and what they’re telling you. -
For the political types: What is your end game here?
WrestlingRasta replied to Jason Bryant's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
It’s a sad tale with no end game. Started as a good place to just observe and escape at the time, and evolved into a place to troll stupidity. But to be honest, getting kind of burned out on reading from Americans who have such a poor vision of America, and can’t stand other Americans. End game might be to just -
It’s sad to see people being so heavily influenced by a hate monger, to have such a poor belief about our country.

It’s not so much some companies he has owned that have gone bankrupt that turns me off, it’s more…..multiple cases of companies he has bankrupted, combined with multiple cases of unpaid debt he refuses to pay, combined with multiple cases of criminal fraud he has committed…combined with so many other things. Do I think the government should be run like a business? No. It’s not a business, it’s a society. Do I think some economic/financial aspects of the government should include some business like characteristics…yes.
