I should have qualified my comment with "most of those who participate on this board"...I didn't intend to generalize to the entire public. My bad. -
Trump Admin Shares War Plans w Journalist
WrestlingRasta replied to red viking's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
The best thing about this story is that both the outrage, and the brushing of it off, has absolutely nothing to do with what happened and everything to do with who is in the oval office. If this same thing happened two years ago, the comments would basically be the same, just the commenters would just have flipped sides. (And yes we saw plenty of examples over the last few years.....the proof is in the pudding) -
I honestly don't understand why people have a problem with his answer to that question, other than putting a whole lot of weight into "well I think this is what he should say" Nothing burger

Ronald Regan? And he did it with out sexual assault, dozens of felonies, and stealing confidential documents for guests to use as reading material in the *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me*ttter. I mean, if we’re here to put people on a pedestal…

Steveson vs Hendrickson, staged theatre???

I didn’t think about that. I didn’t realize that all of those secret service and staff would have just had the night off and wouldn’t have gotten paid, if he didn’t go to the tournament. Do you think they one of those punch in clocks on Air Force one, or do they have to do it in Washington before they leave?

I immediately wondered if we’d see the 125 in Iowa next year. -
If we take away the defenses, even the ‘boring’ last ditch effort defenses, we take away the incentive to improve the technique to beat, or stay clear of, those defenses. Up the bar…up the skill it takes to reach said bar.

It’s no secret on the NWT section I’m no fan of the current president. Last night was one of the most significant moments in wrestling, ever, in this country. The ‘bookends’ turned out to work phenomenal. No one can doubt he was there to be part of the dog and pony show of one last horrah for Steveson, and it brought serious eyeballs to the sport. The fact that an Air Force Lieutenant pulls off the biggest upset ever in the NCAA, and then salutes the President of the United States, followed with a hug with the flag around his shoulders. It’s a huge moment. Absolutely huge moment for wrestling. Wrestling is a blue collar, grit and hard work, you get what you earn not a damn thing is handed to you, lifestyle. No one votes for you for all-American, you go get it. Of course it’s a conservative leaning base. But everyone can respect what was on display last night. From the 184 all the way through. A work buddy texted me right after one of the less than exciting one takedown matches. He never watches wrestling doesn’t know anything about it other than asking me how my peeps are doing. He texted “holy *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me* these guys are in world class condition”. There were those kinds of eyeballs all over the country.

Manning is the best coach overall
WrestlingRasta replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Nebraska/Manning in a perfection position for him to step back. Great thing going on the up trend, can leave it in two great sets of hands, two guys that are very much culture guys, along with being younger guys who can help usher in to Nebraska this new age of NCAA wrestling. Step back when you’re at the top of building the best wrestling program the school has ever had. -
I feel like Taylor should be getting a lot of talk. Certainly got the best out of these guys and a perfect gameplan against Steveson. Hendricksons attacks throughout the match weren’t so much committed to scoring as they were to get gable wrestling. Each ‘attempt’ he made, he was immediately ready to wrestle off Steveson’s reattack, and did so successfully. Wore him down to the end of the match to wear he could get his hands on the mat, and go chase down a takedown. Gable had that brick thrown for the sole purpose of needing a break. The orange corner knew it and that’s when they knew they had him.

Next year, fan poll. 12 hours after the last semi final the fans vote for the top three matches. Rank them in a 3-2-1 score and that sets your order for the finals.Weight class order has nothing to do with it. ???

Growing by 5% year over year is dumb? Their methods probably haven’t had anything to do with the increase in amount and ease of which we have been able to view this tournament over the last ten years. Probably hasn’t increased viewership of this tournament either. I wonder why they have people whom they pay, because they are educated and experienced in doing this kind of thing, to do this kind of thing. And then we have people like us talking about them on anonymous message boards.
-
I get the reasoning. Especially from the side of grabbing the not so regular fan. I’m sure many wouldn’t plan on watching the whole thing, just plan on tuning in around the end. Some of them then forget and never turn it on. However, having a set time when you know when that match is going to take place….and then possibly getting some hooked….some of those who may have never ended up tuning in, now become those who never turned it off.

They seriously could score more points next year. 125 could be in finals 133 has a couple options could possibly score more. 141..Blaze in the finals is not out of this world suggestion 149 could be in finals 157 could be in finals 165 probably not gonna score less. 174 could be in finals. and then a final three of Barr and Mirasola’s.

WrestlingRasta replied to mspart's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
The guy is weird and I don’t trust him with our government any further than I can throw him..which, with these bad knees and shoulders I really shouldn’t be throwing anybody…but the guy is one hell of an interesting listen. Anytime he’s on a podcast it’s worth just sitting and listening to him. (Whether you buy into what he’s saying or not) Oh yeah and whoever this knuckle head is having road rage over what kind of car someone is driving should have the book thrown at them. Simply just shouldn’t tolerate this type of *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me* anymore, from anyone. Don’t tread on me means just that…all around. -
Dude….you’re on an anonymous message board, that about a dozen people, maybe two, actually participate in. You’re not that serious. Your ‘mission’ is no good here.

What Burroughs and to a large extent Snyder have done in Stars and Stripes, in the modern ‘competitive climate’..Post-Soviet, International Free Agency) carries a lot of weight for me. In the John Smith days you had a group of three or four Russians training together for the purpose of that one guy beating Smith. In the Burroughs days you have the same group of Russians training together, but they all got a shot at him in the bracket. Not to downplay anything or anyone, but these are fun talks of picking straws, and that’s a pretty big straw.
