They sure do. Little Nicky is a perfect example.

He’s wrestled in PR each time they’ve had an event to determine their national team. Can the Amine brothers say as much? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Spencer Lee and Andrew Alirez should have been the reps for this event. Hope to see them at Last Chance. * Actually prefer to see Zain at 65, if he can still be effective at the weight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
No, the US is not qualified for the Olympic Games at 65kg. PSU 65kg guys don't have a good history at Pan Am OGQs. Zain lost his lace and got decked in 2020 and now Nick Lee gets run for 16pts.

I had suggested Zoom to make it go faster. It would make it easier for me to update the board as picks are being made. That said... I also see the benefit if doing the draft on the forum. There were a number a spectators who were following the action. The banter during the draft was also fun to follow. Just need to make sure users are constantly refreshing their browser windows. Have we settled on a date/time? I like the idea of Sunday, the 16th. I'm in Vegas (Pacific time), but I'm an early-riser and can start as early as necessary.

WTF was that? 16 straight points?!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
It's more than those four parameters. There are six parameters AND you must actually wrestle two bouts at the qualifying tourney. Quoted jdalu75 from the Lehigh forum. He does a nice job of summarizing the NCAA Pre-Championships Manual: Wrestlers failing to win the pre-allocated spots at the conference tournaments have a shot at the at-large berths. There are at least four for each weight class and there have been as many as seven. This is messy. After the conference tournaments the NCAA updates winning percentages and the CP and RPI rankings. Wrestlers need to meet two or more of the following in order just to be considered for an at-large: ● .700 Win % ● Top 33 RPI ● Top 33 CR ● .700 winning percentage against all competition ● One win against a wrestler receiving an earned position (pre-allocated) ● Qualifying event placement one below number of pre-allocated spots New this year: they also have to wrestle at least two bouts in the conference tournament. All the wrestlers in a weight class who pass that test are then ranked against each other, using these criteria: ● Head-to-head competition — 25% ● Quality wins — 20% ● Qualifying event placement — 15% ● Results against common opponents — 10% ● RPI — 10% ● Coaches rankings — 10% ● Win percentage — 10%

among others. very true - and very sad. Reese's former HS coach used to take me to Fall tourneys before he moved from D4 PA to New York.

District XI Wrestlers in NCAA Division 1

He's not bad... for a Jersey guy! He attended a HS with a pretty good reputation. Imagine how much smarter he'd be if he grew up on the other side of the river. -
I recall the discussion on the old forum as well. Henning didn't help himself by going from an NCAA finalist to a #5 seed at B1G. Whether Henning was the driver or not, it was generally agreed that we had to do away with the five year rolling average for R12 performance. The era of shady deals was not good. I know the Lehigh forum used to complain about the "Ivy Mob" voting as a block for WCs at the EIWA tourney.

Henning entered the B1G tourney as the #5 seed and went 2-and-BBQ, losing on the backside to an unseeded guy from Purdue. Not sure how the coaches could have justified a Wild Card in the back-room discussion. http://www.wrestlingstats.com/big10/pdf/Big%2010-2008.pdf Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Since we included Kolat’s international rule changes, we need to include Gene Mills’ desire to score 100 pts in a bout as the driver for the Tech Fall… https://www.flowrestling.org/video/6520717-tech-falls-were-invented-because-of-gene-mills Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

26-2 is his career Big 12 record. Nine career losses. https://goairforcefalcons.com/documents/2024/2/15/2023-24_AF_WR_Stats.pdf?path=wrestling He lacks cred in the following categories: Past Credentials: Not many Hodge winners that are 1x champs. His NCAA history is R12, R16, 3rd, TBD. His resume is nowhere near that of the other major candidates. Quality of Competition: His RPI is #13 among 285s. Given his undefeated record, that doesn't speak much for his competition. For a little perspective, he's #11 on Flo's P4P rankings.

Is PSU really getting calls or are we haters?

While I'll own my mistakes, I'm not responsible to correct other people's errors.

While I may have misspelled Mesenbrink, I had Crookham's name correct. Crookham missed duals, Mesenbrink has not. Mesenbrink would be your LMS winner under the original rules.
-
The original LMS contest did not allow picks to miss a dual. Crookham would have been eliminated a while ago. I don't believe Messenbrink has missed any duals.
