  1. Suggest we be ready to go at 1:30, and start as soon as flyingcement joins. It just isn't the same without a delayed start. This was me last year at draft time...
  2. Me, too. I suggest starting at 2p to give a little cushion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Plan for draft from 1p to 3:30p. Will we lose you when landing & de-planing? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Joziah Fry just bonused his way to a second D3 national title at 125. Fry's only loss during his two consecutive championship seasons is Luke Stanich from Lehigh.
  5. Zoom meeting info sent to the participants via DM. Had to sent as two messages, as the forum only allows me to send to ten recipients at a time. @Antitroll2828 @flyingcement @Gage @Idaho @jajensen09 @JVStateChamp @MizzouFan01 @MPhillips @nhs67 @Perry @RockLobster @steamboat_charlie @Truzzcat @VakAttack cc: @goheels1812
  6. That was perhaps the deepest class ever. However, Metcalf was the clear front-runner that year.
  7. Bucknell has some very wealthy fans - the kind that bring programs back from the dead… https://www.sungazette.com/sports/local-sports/2018/12/grahams-goal-comes-to-fruition-as-bucknell-wrestling-sells-out-sojka/ Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Nothing wrong with Beard’s cardio. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. General information Entry Fee: $20 paid to VakAttack via Venmo The field has been confirmed as follows: Draft: Sunday, March 17, 2023 @ 1:00pm EDT (last year's draft lasted ~2-1/2 hours) Link to Draft Board (I recommend you bookmark this link, as I will make scoring updates after each session in this file) Once everyone is logged into the draft, I’ll randomly sort the participant list to determine draft order. Draft picks will be made in this thread, facilitated by VakAttack (i.e., he’ll prompt you to pick if you’re running slow.) I will log the pick on the Draft Board as it is made. Time to make your selection will be loosely policed at 1 minute. The selection process will take place in a reversing-snake pattern. i.e., the selection order works as follows: Round 1: 1 through 15 Round 2: 15 through 1 Note: #1 and #15 will make two consecutive picks as the order reverses itself round-to-round Each participant selects a wrestler for each weight class (125-285), plus one ‘Wild Card’. The ‘Wild Card’ can be selected any time during the draft process. The penalty for excessive lateness during a selection will result in the pick being skipped for that round, and that pick moved to the end of draft. (VakAttack’s discretion). Withdrawal/Replacement Policy (a.k.a., the "Jerry Callo / Connor McGonagle Rule"): Keep in mind you are picking a wrestler, not a bracket position. If your selection does not make weight, fails skin check, or pulls a Suriano... you are stuck with that guy. If your selection withdrawals from the tournament prior to 5pm EDT on Wednesday, you can make a replacement pick. You need to let @VakAttack and @lu_alum know the name of your replacement pick prior to weigh-ins on the first day of the tournament (Thursday, 10am EDT). Zoom We're setting Zoom up on a trial basis this year, with the thought it may help to move picks along more quickly if folks aren't frequently refreshing their forum chat browser. Zoom is completely optional - official picks will be made/posted in this forum chat thread. If you want to connect via Zoom, send me @lu_alum a PM with your email address & I'll send the link. Scoring All eleven selections (125-285, plus WC) count toward the participants summary score. Scoring will be downloaded from TrackWrestling (data provided using My Wrestlers) at the end of each round and updated/published on the same Google Sheet used for the Draft. I recommend that you create a list with your wrestlers on Track to double check my math. Payout I believe we paid top the top three last year. VakAttack runs the money side of this operation. Suggestions I highly recommend that you open two browser windows. One to monitor this selection thread and make picks; the other to monitor the draft board (follow the selection order & see who is still available on the Draft Board). NOTE: You will need to refresh the thread frequently to keep up with selections being made and avoid missing your turn due to a time penalty. If you weren't already aware, the F5 key will do this. The Draft Board will update in real time. 10. It a shame @goheels1812 didn’t make the field. That said, his absence will give others a chance to pick wrestlers from NC State. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. So, the final spot goes to either (1) RockLobster or (2) goheels1812. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. By my count, we are currently at 13 (assuming @GreatWhiteNorth is in jail). I'll leave it to @VakAttack to round out the final field of fifteen. I'll post instructions and suggestions once the field is set.
  13. Correct. Waiting on steamboat_charlie. Not sure if @VakAttack has additional players in waiting?
  14. (a little sarcasm here)... Maybe they used their discretion to put three banged-up returning champions on the same side of the bracket. Let the best man survive and meet the best healthy guy from the bottom in the final?
  15. I do get it. It is a mathematical formula, with some latitude to make adjustments within numerical groupings. But even the subjective aspect of the seeding process has guidelines, several of which he doesn't present favorably. He's not a conference champion He's 3-2 in his last five bouts He had two INJ DEF losses. The B1G tourney brought his availability into question.
  16. That type of bracket manipulation is precisely why the “Schlatter Rule” was created. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Suriano didn’t. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. “They” didn’t punish anyone. The seeding parameters were created, agreed upon, and published for all to see. Like it or not, it’s a mathematical formula. Starocci and Carl knew the guidelines, but still chose to wrestle a very limited schedule, resulting in no RPI (10% of the seeding formula). Heading into B1G with 12 bouts gave him an opportunity to get to the 15 bouts needed, but the injury prevented that. No conference placement (10% of the seeding formula) further hurt his cause. Nolf understood the need to get a conference placement when he was injured - he wrestled to the semi-final before taking a three-bout MED FFT slide to sixth place. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Mekhi should have the advantage over a one-legged Starocci. Only problem is Mekhi will have to actually take a shot. The counter-offense crap from neutral isn't gonna cut it at NCAAs if Starocci doesn't shoot w a gimpy wheel. Starocci will likely be content to go scoreless in the first period and take the match to the mat.
  20. Bracket information is loaded into the Google Sheet. Here is the link. (I recommend you bookmark it in your browser) Reading through the thread, I show the following as paid: @flyingcement @Gage @GreatWhiteNorth @Idaho @JVStateChamp @MizzouFan01 @MPhillips @nhs67 @Perry @Truzzcat @VakAttack and Me (lu_alum) The following are committed, but have not paid: @Antitroll2828 @jajensen09 I see that @steamboat_charlie has been offered a spot, but cannot determine whether they've accepted the invitation and/or paid. I'll make another post to walk through the rules and offer suggestions on how to make the draft go smoothly.
