just got back session 2 reactions we have three guys that would be world medalists at 86kg I was rooting for Zahid and think the singlet grab was inconsequential on the match and was a crazy call, however I think had their not been two challenges Zahid would not have gotten to that point given his gas tank. Jess Mendez gets better every time I see him I think had that been a zain off the scale he would have won. I know thats purely speculative and probably a dumb claim but just my thoughts. Nick Lee does not get enough credit for how he freestyles. What I mean by that is his ability to get out of exchanges that should be 2 for the other guy with 2 and 2 as well as his par tear offense. Isaac Trumble is a bad man (I would like credit for the thread I made in January) Ive never been more disappointed with wrestling fans than I was with how they treated Burroughs. I think Nolf wrestled a brilliant match tactically but I don't know how he was not cautioned and or put on the clock but my god that double was nasty. the head push was completely out of bounce but the refs needed to step in sooner because MM was being a prick. Hayden zillmers back makes me insecure. Gillman and lee both looked outstanding I think Gillman takes it if it goes 3 but I think the scale may do him in. Despite our "golden era" of guys winding down I feel like we have never had the depth we do currently and we will be just find moving forward and potentially even better,

2024 OTT Day 1 Session 1 official thread
Truzzcat replied to bnwtwg's topic in International Wrestling
just got back from session 1 major takeaways. The high school kids are absolutely unreal cox looked like he was about to die post match Shapiro looked dreadful compared to my standards for him. Facundo if it translates to folk will be ready to AA Spencer looks healthy and has insane hips Yianni looked really good aside from when he looked really bad Carter looked really undersized MM may have something to say about a Dake Burroughs rematch Jesse gets better every time I see him -
I do not have the highest of hopes for manville being an impact guy at least right away. Hes taken more losses since march than I've seen him ever take and Bassett just teched him in free at a Fargo qualifier. Mind you Bassett could AA right now but for a guy that has relied on dominating the hand fight it feels like he needs to be at the perfect weight.

any idea what they do with ysaguirre? is he big enough to go 149 and Larkin 157? or bump Vasquez and throw ysaguirre out at 141?
-
I think if Larkin goes 149 its pretty much a wash although they probably don't have anyone on his level for 157 okie state feels like a program that fits the vibe check for him perhaps they are assembling all of the infinity stones.
-
I cannot lie to you I was not familiar with the PSU landscaping game but I will definitely be tuning in moving forward.
-
thinking SVN 157 kasak 149? or Sealey going right away at 157 or dare I say TB back down to 157
-
Major takeaways, sounds like hes coming back to college (maybe at 197) sounds like hes gonna wrestle for awhile talks about going 86 for the future makes me think Aaron will be going 92/97 moving forward

have not watched but I know its gold

am I the only one that was not aware that Pat was rather unreal in HS/when before he took his hiatus in college did not realize he qualified for the 2012 olympic trials and won a silver at u20's that year.
-
zou vs uulu r2??? thats brutal.
-
If they can add Marcus Blaze to that recruiting class it may up pushing psu's for the #1 class of 2025
-
Ohio state snags another big one for the class of 2025 with 1x pa state champ 1x super 32 and Fargo champ Maddox Shaw. Feels like he has a really good style for college he's great on the mat, not sure what weight he projects out at he's pretty long I'd guess 149/157.
-
I think its a weird and rather odd situation with mason. You have a kid that in middle and early high school that was probably a top10 potentially top 5 recruit for his entire class that has now had a couple semi serious injuries and does not seem to be progressing in his wrestling potentially regressing given his early success. I would venture to guess a lot of that is mental and can be fixed but I would imagine he's looking for a full scholarship and maybe some NIL and I'm not sure how many teams are willing to give that with his current trajectory, not to look too much into a single match on the backside but the kid he lost to for third and fourth at states is going d2.
-
I wonder if you see Ohio state punt next year and RS rocco and Jesse. Their best possible teams will be 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 I think looking at their recruiting. You get two years with davino and Birden and potentially two definitely one with vince. Cannon and kharchla are both good options at 141 and 174 respectively for one year.
-
rumors were the cut was brutal for him this year, which is kinda crazy considering he was once a 141 but hes so tall I think he's probably taller than most 157's.
-
great snag for OSU I think he has a higher ceiling than his older brother and should fit in well to got back to back with Birden in the future.

Over/under on PSU/NLWC guys winning Olympic spots
Truzzcat replied to SocraTease's topic in International Wrestling
3 feels like the absolute bare minimum 6 seems aggressive so I'm going to go with 4 thinking that lee gets it done at 57 and Yianni or Alirez at 65 and hedging that if zain or lee does it at 65 then Kerk wont at heavy. -
Brock Delsignore feels like a huge pickup for little rock. He had a great year had a major over Sam fisher and Bennett Berge and his only loss was an injury default.

57 Poll revisited: Lee vs the Field
Truzzcat replied to Hammerlock3's topic in International Wrestling
Unfortunately, or fortunately for spencer the bracket layout is more or less lee to the finals and then he beats one of "the field" I hate writing off Zane, he was our world team rep but outside of that us open run and then beating Gillman he's done nothing to instill me with much confidence that he will push spencer much if at all. I actually think spencer's toughest match will be Nico and then I have Lilledahl knocking off Gillman in the top quarter. If the question was meant to mean spencer in a gauntlet vs everyone in the field once id pick the field I think he probably drops one to someone but with how the bracket is formatted he's my pick. -
Gilman called Yianni a quitter for going to the hospital with a concussion I may pump the breaks on "grew up" certainly better than he was.
