  1. They have in the past. Not sure if that's changed in recent years.
  2. None of the wrestling scenes in The Last Champion were shot in slow motion either.
  3. Dark matches are matches that are live, but not televised. Events that are live, but not televised are called “house shows.” There might be a handful of dark matches tonight before the Royal Rumble, for example.
  4. You don’t get buried in house shows, that is where you actually have development. That Indian sports website is also trash.
  5. There is another video showing a view of the kid on top sinking in a choke and quickly pulling an arm under an arm, but I can’t seem to post it here from my phone. It was quick and the ref was on top of the position, before Brunson jumped in. So the discussion calling it a merkle isn’t fully accurate but no way do you put your hands on another kid. here’s the FB link to that post though … He shouldn’t be allowed to coach anyone’s kid, let alone his own if this is how he reacts to that quick of a position. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/gqjhkSUU2iHXkEL5/?mibextid=K8Wfd2
  6. Yeah, I never saw it. I did some voice work for the background scenes, got an IMDB credit for it, but never saw this ever released.
  7. Pretty sure anything after Jay passed, the format differs. I believe Jay did most of it in Access. I know I've been throwing AI at the Big Ten PDFs for about a week and they just won't read the data correctly. When I convert them to read it, they'll not pull the right lines because the way the PDFs are generated are from an era where the PDF wasn't the standard format and wasn't really a native document type. Now, you can't seem to go a day without opening multiple PDFs.
  8. He’s gotta win the spot first, then navigate through the conference to hit a qualifying spot. Beating the Purdue heavy, who is 3-15 this year, isn’t exactly a litmus test for the NCAA tournament.
  9. Some of these movies are flat out awful.
  10. Marcus wrestled his true freshman year at Minnesota - where he redshirted.
  11. He was committed, but never enrolled and never on the roster.
  12. "AC Slater did in fact get a scholarship to wrestle at Iowa!! " You don't actually "get" the scholarship if you don't enroll there. But this is semantics over a fictional situation, so in keeping with the theme - Thanks Preppy
  13. Stove Pipe (RIP) once called him Lawrence in a post. Thought that was amusing.
  14. I didn’t delete it, but it was marked private. Not sure if it still is that way or not. I pushed back on that quite a bit but my objections were overruled. I started a 2:00 Go series with clips from practice that that didn’t last long. The one with Cael and Usman has been ripped off a ton of times since. they crop out the USAW copyright tag on the front and the back and the video itself. But to the original point - it wasn’t made public before I departed in Oct. 2012.
  15. No, he didn’t. He ALMOST did.
  16. Well, it’s what we consider the D1 championship but it’s the NCAA championship with the longest history. There have been a single NCAA championship, then a University Division and D1 championships since the late 20s, but D1 didn’t exist until 1973-74.
  17. Also had his program dropped in the process. Could have been a threat to place while at that place in Norfolk given how he always seemed to catch fire at nationals.
  18. Tim Kreiger entered each NCAA tournament he wrestled undefeated for that season. Was a four-time #1 seed. So maybe his freshman or junior seasons as he finished 5-1-2-1
  19. Virginia Duals spawned the event. Then it started to move around the country. They started the Multi-Divisional National Duals in 2004. Division I broke off to try regional formats (and back to single sites) and then a finals site in 2012 and then various versions until the bowl-series style that Cael actually suggested put an end to it. Multi-Duals have been on-going since 04, with the NJCAA moving theirs to Oklahoma a week later the last few years.
  20. That’s not exactly something that’s going to grow anymore. 24 pairs of Jordans, Dunks and Air Force 1s was a COVID discovery more than anything - although I do buy shoes that match my gigs and for special occasions.
  21. They’re not still in the wax packs.
  22. Craft brewery stickers, inadvertently collecting wrestling t-shirts, but those are more rotated in and out. Hats. I have a small collection of vintage pennants from defunct minor league and rogue sports league teams from both Minnesota and Virginia. Still have my 25K baseball cards from the “worthless era” of collecting in the late 80s.
