  1. The reputation that "inner city" schools have always had is based on big blue cities. And that reputation is not for excellence. mspart
  2. Keep up WKN. You are confusing yourself. My priorities statement was based on your below statement. In fact I posted right after you. No need to try to be confusing. The priorities you outline may change. mspart
  3. Those priorities may change. mspart
  4. Never got into Mad Max movies. I extraordinary a few favorites. Princess Bride, Stardust, Prince of Persia, John Carter of Mars, and League of extraordinary gentlemen. I also the Hulk movies. Granted they are not premier productions, but I love the Hulk. I have others that I have mentioned before, but i watch these repeatedly. I know some have been panned but I like them. Stardust is under rated i think. Great story!. mspart
  5. Here's some statstics for DOE, DOE was established in 1979. Kids who were 6 years old then are now 50 years old. So that would be a majority of folks now living grew up with DOE in the federal government. https://www.abtaba.com/blog/us-literacy-statistics Top 10 Key US Literacy Statistics 14% of adults in the US can't read. 21% of adults in the US read below a 5th-grade level. 19% of high school graduates in the US can't read. 85% of juveniles in the US court system are functionally illiterate. 70% of inmates in the US prison system can't read above a 4th-grade level. 45 million adults in the US are functionally illiterate. 50% of adults in the US can't read a book written at an eighth-grade level. 75% of Americans who receive food stamps perform at the lowest two levels of literacy. 43% of adults with the lowest literacy skills live in poverty. 3 out of 4 food stamp recipients perform at the lowest two levels of literacy. DOE is a complete and utter failure by any measure except spending increasing amounts of money to get the above results. DOE fosters the the road to dependency as outlined in item 10. So now anyone, try to justify the existence of the Department of Education. mspart
  6. https://www.pacificresearch.org/why-high-school-graduates-turn-out-to-be-college-illiterates/ Education Week recently pointed out that high school graduates’ “college readiness has reached historic lows, according to several metrics—including the lowest scores in 30 years on the ACT and declining scores on the SAT, the two primary standardized tests used for college admissions.” The ACT measures college readiness in English composition, social sciences, algebra, and biology. Janet Godwin, the head of the ACT, told Education Week: “Fewer students leaving high school are meeting all four college readiness benchmarks [on ACT tests]. Just 21 percent of high school seniors are meeting all of these benchmarks; 43 percent of students meet none of them.” ... A major study by the ACT found that from 2010 to 2022 the grade point average in high school English, math, science, and social studies courses among students taking the ACT college-entrance test increased year over year, while their ACT scores decreased in every one of those subjects. ... In an essay for Slate, Professor Adam Kotsko of North Central College in Illinois said he used to assign 30 pages of reading per class, but, “Now students are intimidated by anything over 10 pages and seem to walk away from readings of as little as 20 pages with no real understanding.” “Considerable class time,” he said, “is taken up simply establishing what happened in a story or the basic steps of an argument—skills I used to be able to take for granted.” DOE is doing a marvelous job aren't they? mspart
  7. Kolat is personally responsible for 2 rule changes in international wrestling. That didn't help him but that is the case. And it was in recognition of the screw jobs he received. mspart
  8. According to RL, you are un american. mspart
  9. Apparently the perp was seen in a coffee shop shortly before the shooting. They have his face on coffee shop video. mspart
  10. I think you are conflating concern for military readiness for unamerican posting. If the military has reduced readiness and lethality due to their move to equity justice, is it un american to point that out? They are missing their recruitment targets. That necessarily affects military readiness. Is it un american to point that out? For those that want reduced military budget, are they un american for taking that position? mspart
  11. I love the gopher pic, thanks for that. I lived in Apple Valley for 7 years so that means something to me. Yes, I could use a vacation for sure. I'll get around 2 weeks when Christmas comes. I don't have much reason to come here during vacation or holidays. But it is fun and interesting to see what people think out there. mspart
  12. Lee Kemp and Cary Kolat for sure. Dake, T Brands, and Spencer Lee, I don't think they are there yet. Kolat had terrible "luck" in 2 WCs and 1 Oly. He was dominant and the system robbed him of wins he obviously had but were taken away from him. After his loss in the Olympics, he lost heart I think. It was a touch too much for him. He didn't really compete after that although he came back some years later and didn't make it. He was the greatest US wrestler to never get a WC or Oly gold. mspart
  13. A domicile for chickens. mspart
  14. Not believe Harris' immigration plans. Believe Trump's immigration plans. The American electorate has spoken. mspart
  15. Yeah, it would not take too much I think. Homan has already threatened to jail the Denver mayor if he refuses to provide known info. https://abcnews.go.com/US/trump-border-czar-tom-homan-jail-denver-mayor/story?id=116235385 Incoming border czar Tom Homan says he's willing to throw Denver Mayor Mike Johnston in jail over his protests about mass deportation. "But look, me and the Denver mayor, we agree on one thing -- he's willing to go to jail, I'm willing to put him in jail because there there's a statute. It's Title 8 United States Code 1324 (iii). And what it says is it's a felony if you knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien from immigration authorities. It's also a felony to impede a federal law enforcement officer," Homan told Hannity during an interview on Fox News last night. This section of law is as follows: (iii) knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation; mspart
  16. They better help or Homan will get them for harboring a fugitive which is a federal felony offense. Homan has said it, so I expect he will get cooperation even if grudgingly. mspart
  17. This was not aimed at your necessarily. mspart
  18. Now why would they change the rules for such an insignificant thing that barely happens and is on nobody's radar? All excused on this thread as evidence to do nothing yet, the NCAA nothing something. Someone or someones is/are talking out of both sides of their mouth. mspart
  19. Trump could cover the 20 million for Kamala but what would that teach her? mspart
  20. I think the smaller and safer nuclear rector designs they have now would be a better deal. mspart
  21. https://thefulcrum.us/election-2024/why-did-democrats-lose It’s tough sledding for Democrats, as they try to wrap their heads around Donald Trump’s improbable-but-also-foreseeable sweep of all seven swing states and winning the popular vote. This wasn’t supposed to happen, after all. Democrats genuinely believed — as they did in 2016 — that Trump’s many odious qualities would be enough to keep him far away from the White House again. And if for some reason that wasn’t enough for most Americans, they had in Vice President Kamala Harris a woman of color who, apparently, by virtue of her identity alone, would help seal the deal among those voting demographics. And if that wasn’t enough, there was always … Beyoncé. But it didn’t go that way. Voters overlooked Trump’s crimes and insults. Plenty of women and voters of color didn’t vote for Harris just because she was a woman or a minority, and celebrities didn’t deliver a Dem to the White House. And so the blame games have begun. But they had Beyonce and Springsteen. And Clooney and others. mspart
  22. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/11/10/democratic-party-crisis-mode-00188547 More Democrats fear the party’s image isn’t just damaged – it’s broken Democrats are having a full-blown identity crisis. Days after Kamala Harris’ defeat, the extent of their party’s failure is becoming increasingly clear. It’s bad enough that Democrats are still losing working-class whites, as they have in recent elections. Now, exit polls show blue-collar Latinos and some Black men, long a core part of the Democratic base, are abandoning the party, too, fueling electoral shellackings. Republicans flipped the Senate and are padding their majority. Democrats’ path to a majority in the House is narrowing. And Donald Trump won in what could only be described as a landslide in the modern era. “The Democratic Party needs to be rebuilt,” said Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. “We have become a party of elites, whether we abandoned working-class people, whether they abandoned us, whether it’s some combination of all of the above.” Even Jayapal "cannot" determine if they abandoned working class or the working class abandoned them. It is a chicken and egg question. If the Ds had not abandoned the working class, the working class would not have abandoned them. It is obvious their policies were not based in reality or based int he real concerns of the average voter. They need to do some soul searching to stop this. But will they or will they hide their head in the sand and continue to not prosecute the bad guys, continue to ignore that shoplifting is now so rampant stores are closing, and to continue to ignore scientific reality by saying a girl is a boy and a boy is a girl. I read somewhere that Ds cannot even identify malfeasance and mal actors anymore. That is apparent. They are not in reality. They are in la la land . The sooner they realize this and correct it, the sooner their fortunes will change. mspart
  23. Yes, they have been coming for a long time as I have noted regarding the plasterers. But never at the level that we have now experienced. You are here to tell me that all of these 11 million illegals are agricultural workers? Naiveté at its best and brightest. mspart
  24. I think the point is that the hybrid is a better option than the full EV. You can go further than with a full EV if you are on a long trip, and it sips the gas with way better gas mileage. Until we get to a point where we have an electric grid that can handle the demands of AI, EVs and regular use, having an EV does not make sense. AI is here and will grow. That will stretch the capabilities of the current grid to its capacity.
  25. Ouch that is right! But that was a friendly and the women weren't serious in this game at all. They were more inspired by helping the self confidence of these younger players, than in taking it to these boys. mspart
