Yes, this is not a good look for NASA, Boeing, or the space program in general. I get that NASA is erring on the side of safety, but they have done so without actually saying what is wrong. We have been getting different version of Starliner is ok, but out of an abundance of caution we aren't going to use it. What the heck is going on? mspart

Democrats’ Trust in Media Down, Lowest Since 2016
mspart replied to jross's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
Yes, the press is now solidly the enemy of the people. They don't tell the truth. They distort event reporting to the benefit of the left. Whenever they err on a story it is always to the benefit of the left. They argue with any person interviewed that is not on the left. They are not interesting in informing the people. They are interested in steering the conversation in one direction only, towards the left. If that isn't the enemy of the people, it is hard to tell what could be. mspart -

Yeah, we saw that with good ol' moderate Joe. Just after taking the oath, he became the most divisive left leaning President the country has known. Of course Kamala will not change her positions. She is the most radical candidate we have ever had, even more so than McGovern back in the day. She picked Walz specifically so he could be the left wing whackadoo while she tried to have her minions spin her to the center. She has not gone on record with any of the more moderate positions. And if pressed on those, she would screw up that situation. She cannot do interviews and doesn't want to answer questions because it will easily show the lie that she is now perpetrating on the US citizens. mspart -
She was not the czar. You guys are conflating things. She was only called the Border Czar by every network known to man until she became the default D candidate for President. Then all of the sudden she was not the border czar anymore. She was only supposed to figure out root causes for the illegal immigration. But she couldn't/didn't even do that. The #1 root cause of the illegal immigration morass was the Biden admin signaling to everyone south of the border that it was ok, to come across the now open border. But she couldn't even figure that out. And people want her to run the country? mspart

So that answers the question why Kamala is so afraid to debate? mspart

Here is a list of her economic aims from what I can find. I can't find an official release of her plan. This is the best I have found. Please comment any of these: https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2024/08/16/kamala-harris-addresses-economy-in-speech-heres-what-to-know-about-her-policy-agenda/ Grocery Prices: The candidate would work in her first 100 days to help Congress pass a national ban on “price gouging” for food and groceries, as well as give the Federal Trade Commission and prosecutors authority to go after companies they determine price gouge, support small businesses in the industry, take a closer look at mergers between big grocery companies and “aggressively” investigate price-fixing in meat supply chains specifically. Housing Costs: Harris wants to provide $25,000 in down payment assistance for first-time home buyers and is calling for the creation of three million new housing units within the next four years, proposing a tax credit for developers who build starter homes and investing $40 million in an innovation fund to tackle the housing crisis. Rental Costs: Harris would also expand a tax credit for housing developers who build affordable housing rental units, and is calling on Congress to pass legislation that would stop predatory investors who buy up rental homes and collude with each other to raise rental prices. Child Tax Credit: Harris proposed giving families a $6,000 tax credit for newborns in their first year of life, and restore a pandemic-era tax credit of $3,600 per child for middle and lower-class families. Taxes: Harris also wants to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit for workers in lower-income jobs, which would cut taxes by up to $1,250, and has previously said she would continue President Joe Biden’s promise not to raise taxes on American households earning $400,000 or less annually, and does support raising taxes for high earners and corporations, according to The New York Times. No Tax On Tips: Harris has separately endorsed a plan to get rid of taxes on tips for hospitality and service workers, echoing a proposal by former President Donald Trump—which has been criticized by some experts—though a campaign official told CNN tips would still be subject to payroll taxes, and would include an income limit and guardrails to prevent people like hedge fund managers from taking advantage of the policy. Prescription Drug Prices: Harris proposed a $35 cap on insulin and capping out-of-pocket expenses on prescription drugs at $2,000 per year on Friday, also saying she would speed up Medicare negotiations on the price of prescription drugs—after the Biden administration announced a deal lowering costs on 10 medications—and crack down on anti-competitive practices in the pharmaceutical industry that cause higher prices. Healthcare: The Harris campaign also announced her intention to work with states to cancel Americans’ medical debt, and she proposed expanding subsidies for Affordable Care Act plans that would save health insurance customers an average of $700 on their health insurance premiums. Paid Leave: Harris has not released a specific paid leave proposal, but she has previously co-sponsored 12-week paid leave legislation, Politico notes, with Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., telling the outlet, “I absolutely believe that when they are in office, we will get a paid leave bill done finally.” Minimum Wage: Harris called for raising the minimum wage in a Las Vegas speech earlier in August, but her campaign has not specified how high she believes it should be raised. Fed Independence: Harris has vowed to maintain the Federal Reserve’s independence after Trump said he believed “the president should have at least [a] say” on the Federal Reserve’s decisions, with Harris telling reporters, “The Fed is an independent entity and as president I would never interfere in the decisions that the Fed makes. mspart

Evidence the left is much more radicalized than the right

Is that official, or just opinion? I'll go out on a limb and say opinion. I'll back that up. Not one person has been charged with insurrection. That is a word the federal courts have not used to describe what happened. That is a word the media and Ds use to describe what happened. Unfortunately for them, DOJ has not prosecuted anyone for insurrection. The distinction is not irrelevant. When you try to say it was an insurrection, you are not accurate. When you try to insinuate that it was officially considered an insurrection, you are spreading falsehoods with intent to mislead and mischaracterize the event. There is no third option. You have only emotion and opinion on your side when you insinuate it was an insurrection. These are not based on the facts of the matter. mspart

Ha ha, I have only been to JFK in NY, so that does not count. No VT, CT, ME, RI, MA, NH, WV. I think we went to PA when we visited my aunt and uncle in DC. We got some Amish furniture at the place they were made. I remember doing that but don't remember where it was. So maybe on PA. I think I have been in or driven through most others. Been all over the west. Been many places in the mid west. But the East, not really all that interested, except for Boston maybe or upstate NY. Been to Sturgis during Sturgis on accident with my young family. That was an experience. Thought we'd see the Black Hills and Mt Rushmore. Saw that, motorcycles, Crazy Horse Monument, motorcycles, the Badlands, fell in love with the Black Hills, motorcycles and more motorcycles. The motorcycle people were really nice and I was really impressed by them. In the Badlands saw a sod house like the one my wife's grandpa grew up in. Eye opener for sure!! mspart

A tax on unrealized gains that only applies to those with $100 million in assets will become a tax on the middle class down the road. The income tax, as originally passed, is unrecognizable today as it was to only apply to the rich. All taxes, no matter what they are, never go away. Example: WA state created a tax on capital gains. Why is this an issue? Because the WA state constitution forbids unequal taxation on property, and income is defined as property. Therefore, there can be an income tax, but not a progressive income tax. So the law was passed and signed and the SCOWA decided capital gains are not income. That's how courts work. All other states in the union and DC and the Feds count capital gains as income. As a result, there is an initiative on the Nov Ballot to get rid of this. The tax only applies to those with high income. But the point is as soon as it was passed and upheld by the court, the legislature started talking about lowering the high income threshold. They want everyone to pay this. That's how taxes work. mspart

For our vaunted dead guy, Did you bother to read the website? It says Quote: The NTP uses 4 confidence levels - high, moderate, low, or very low - to characterize the strength of scientific evidence that associates a particular health outcome with an exposure. After evaluating studies published through October 2023, the NTP Monograph concluded there is moderate confidence in the scientific evidence that showed an association between higher levels of fluoride and lower IQ in children. Unquote: It does not mention how many points lower the IQ goes, but it does show an association of higher flouride levels and lower IQ in kids. mspart

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/oct/28/instagram-posts/trump-campaigns-evidence-of-fraud-was-reviewed-bef/ Our ruling An Instagram post claimed: "It’s not that there is no evidence the election was stolen, but that no court had the guts to hear the evidence. They dismissed the cases, not the evidence." Although a number of lawsuits challenging the 2020 election’s results were dismissed for procedural or jurisdictional reasons, it’s inaccurate to say that judges refused to review the evidence of alleged fraud. Court records show that some judges dismissed cases after reviewing the evidence and determining it did not sufficiently prove election fraud. We rate this claim False. In the penultimate paragraph, they say there was no case ever held, no trial ever held. So in effect, there was nothing done other than media folks saying there is nothing to see here and judges not allowing trials to be held. That is not proof that there was no corruption in the 2020 election. mspart

Anyone have a take on her economic plan? What items in the package point to her reinventing herself as a moderate? Rather than list any items myself, I am interested in what you think. There should be plenty for everyone to like or not like and explain why. Perhaps it would be better to have a thread for each major item. But I'm hoping we can have an interesting conversation in one thread. mspart

https://abcnews.go.com/US/dhs-watchdog-warns-urgent-issue-after-immigration-officials/story?id=112964072 DHS watchdog warns of 'urgent issue' after immigration officials allegedly lose track of unaccompanied children The cases in question spanned both the Trump and Biden administrations. ByMike Levine, Lucien Bruggeman, and Laura Romero August 20, 2024, 6:12 AM The Department of Homeland Security's internal watchdog says it has uncovered an "urgent issue" with how immigration officials handle cases involving unaccompanied migrant children, warning in a new report that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has been unable to keep track of all unaccompanied minors released from government custody. The interim report, sent to Congress on Tuesday and obtained by ABC News, said that -- in the past five years -- more than 32,000 unaccompanied migrant children failed to appear for their immigration court hearings, and ICE was "not able to account" for all of their locations. By law, the Department of Health and Human Services is responsible for the care of unaccompanied migrant children, so after they are initially taken into custody by U.S. authorities, it is ICE's role "to ensure [their] timely and safe transfer" to HHS, which then often places them in shelters or qualified sponsors' homes. "Without an ability to monitor the location and status of [unaccompanied migrant children], ICE has no assurance [they] are safe from trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor," Inspector General Joseph Cuffari wrote in his interim report. He urged ICE to "take immediate action to ensure the safety of [unaccompanied children] residing in the United States." Our government at work ruining the lives of kids. https://news4sanantonio.com/news/local/two-undocumented-immigrants-arrested-for-trafficking-teen-at-local-motel-venezula-child-sex Two undocumented immigrants arrested for trafficking teen at local motel SAN ANTONIO - Two undocumented immigrants accused of trafficking a 16-year-old Venezuelan migrant have been arrested at a motel near the medical center. According to federal court documents, the San Antonio police conducted an undercover operation at a motel near the medical center earlier this week, responding to an internet ad for sex at the motel. Authorities say an officer posing as a customer interviewed the victim who told them the two men were selling her for sexual activities. This is unacceptable. U N A C C E P T A B L E !!!!!!! These guys need to go to the pokey and be hung by their toenails and given life sentences. And I'm being nice. mspart

Here's a partial transcript of the video: https://www.foxnews.com/media/commerce-sec-doesnt-believe-news-grim-job-revisions-because-trump-said-it-im-not-familiar-that Social media users trashed President Biden's Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo for admitting to ABC News on Wednesday that she wasn’t "familiar" with the day's major revision to the jobs numbers. ABC News correspondent Kayna Whitworth asked Raimondo what she thought of the jobs numbers revision by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. "I am curious as to your thoughts on today the Bureau of Labor saying that more than 800,000 fewer jobs were actually created than initially reported," Whitworth said. The reporter played a clip of former President Trump talking about the report at his rally in North Carolina on Wednesday. "The administration padded the numbers with an extra — listen to this one — 818,000 jobs that don’t exist. So they said they existed and they never did exist. They built ‘em up so they could say what a wonderful job they’re doing," Trump said. Raimondo appeared to dismiss the news as Trump spreading misinformation and when asked if the revision could be a liability for Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris, she said no. "No. When I hear that, first of all, I don’t believe it because I’ve never heard Donald Trump say anything truthful," Raimondo said. "It is from the Bureau of Labor," Whitworth responded. "I'm not familiar with that," Raimondo said, despite the report having been released several hours earlier. Bolds, underlines and larger font are my edits. You really can't make this stuff up!! She ain't giving up hers that's for sure. Did you see all those mansions and Palatial estates? No way those go without a major fight. All part and parcel of the hypocrisy of the left and they have no idea that they are exhibiting the very behavior they are decrying. AMAZING that anyone can be that tone deaf. But we are all witnesses to it. mspart

And the Commerce secretary had no idea when interviewed. The interviewer said that Trump was talking about how horrible it is that they propped themselves up for so long so they could say what a great economy. Commerce secretary said she wouldn't trust anything that came out of his mouth it is all lies. The interviewer then said, Trump was quoting data from the Commerce department. The Commerce Sec said she was not aware of those numbers. What an idiot!!! This is what we have running this country. Watch the video, it is deeply disturbing how stoopid this person is. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/bidens-commerce-secretary-mocked-after-telling-abc-she-s-not-familiar-with-major-job-number-revision/vi-AA1pdddm mspart
