really hope Kaipanov wins not only to pull gomez and PJ back in but also can you imagine those matches. Gomez vs PJ and then the winner vs Ochir. The amount of upper body exchanges would feed families.4 points

So... first day. Only Hendrickson went 0-1. Duke goes 1-1 w/ taking the World champ to the limit before falling. Forrest in the bronze medal match AND Valencia is in the finals. It could've been better, but we'll take those results. D33 points

Amazing stuff by Jax- I think there is a fearlessness to the young guys and the free way they wrestle coming out of highschool... I feel like you wouldn't see too many of our older guys scoring from the merkel standing straight up. Love it!3 points

My thoughts. Jax: Wrestling fearlessly. Love seeing him go for big moves, and his offensive variety is so impressive for his age. His leg defense has improved massively, which we saw against Japan, and he showed great mat smarts against the Kazach. Uguev was just too experienced and savvy. Jax has a great chance to get bronze. PJ: No medal but he wrestled tough. Looked good against China and had a couple beautiful TDs against the world champ. Especially loved seeing that judo trip he throws in there sometime. Seem to wrestle not to lose in the 2nd, or maybe he just faded a bit, but it's the world champ. Tough break he didn't get pulled back in. Zahid: Looking super sharp and confident, just as he did in the Open and Final X. Not many guys in the world are as good as Zahid in his first 4 minutes. So stoked to see him take out Ghasempour. You can tell Zahid faded and was at risk, but Ghas was out of gas too. I wonder if the cut's affecting Ghas's cardio? Will be interesting to see him against the Japanese kid who teched him a couple years ago. Wyatt: Not much to say, 1 and done. I can't really get too upset at Wyatt as it looks to me that Wyatt's just been overhyped. His technique has improved the past year, but the truth is he's kind of slow. He's at risk against quicker heavyweights. It's a little embarrassing that he was put up on the UWW presser alongside Zare, as there was never reason to think he's on Zare's level. Still, it's a shame we didn't get to see more Wyatt matches to get a fuller picture.2 points

Zahid perfect on the day and I don't think you could ask anymore from Forrest... Would have been an upset for Duke as well winning his match but nice to see he's right there so the only one that really disappointed was Hendrickson and we knew going in what we had so I'd say they were on target today all things considered.2 points

That reminded me a bit of Amouzad vs Uguev years ago when Amouzad was at 57. Good start then Uguev took over.2 points

Well done by Jax. I actually was most impressed by him in two situations where he gave up points. 1. When he scrambled out of a sure takedown to a leg-in position that would have scored in folk (and the fight off the back) and 2. Weaseling his way out of the cradle.2 points

Uguev showed why he has won so much. Jax showed a lot this morning, can still bring home a medal and that is one heck of a showing even if he "only" gets 5th at worst. Me thinks he's bringing home hardware though. And working with Taylor the next three years he will add significantly to his offensive arsenal.2 points

When Hilger can put up 14 against Wyatt we have a good idea of what we have. He needs to get much better...2 points

2000 Blair had Cooperman, Esposito, Backes, and Mocco…..pretty good group. 2001 same group and add Robbie Preston. Blair early 2000s was ridiculous. 2009 had Grey, Villalonga, and Ruth. All really good groups.1 point

Technically it could be a big 4 as little Bassett looks to be a top 10 recruit in his class when its all said and done.1 point

I don't have any knowledge off the top of my head, but I would almost have to think that Blair had some teams in the early 2000s. Were Esposito, Perry, and Mocco at Blair at the same time? Edit: Logan Stieber, Hunter Stieber, Jamie Clark, Collin Palmer and Cam Tessari were all at St. Eds together as well.. right? SPG also had Bo and Micah, and a handful of other future AAs on the same high school roster IIRC.1 point
