After graduating from Michigan, Churella served as the head wrestling coach at UNLV from 1979 to 1984. While holding that position, Churella established the Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational Tournament, later renamed the Cliff Keen Invitational. I moved to Vegas nearly 20 years ago. I used to take PTO Friday afternoon, but it only makes sense to head over for the QF Friday night and maybe the SF session Saturday morning. I find it much more convenient to catch the SF and Finals on Flo, particularly since Flo allows me to view multiple matches simultaneously. The Churella family still runs the tournament. When I took my son to the finals about 4-5 years ago, old man Churella (Mark Sr's dad) was collecting money at the door.3 points

I personally believe this is a joke of a prosecution. What are we about as a nation? Who do we value? A person who tries to save life, or the person threatening the lives of people trapped on tan subway train? It is obvious what Alvin Bragg values and that is the dirt bag that threatened the health and life of many on the train car who happens to be a man of color and a homeless drug addict. Bragg obviously feels that Neely is the type of person that adds more to society than Penny, who is white and was just going to his job and he restrained the more worthy drugged out crazy guy who was threatening the others on the train car. In fact, there were others that assisted Penny in restraining Neely. But Neely is more worthy than Penny, those that helped him, and those that were victimized by Neely. What this tells us is to allow crazy drugged out people to do what they do. They are blameless. Projected victims have no rights whatsoever to be safe. I certainly hope Penny is found not guilty. mspart2 points

I'd feel safer if I saw a *black Perry restrain a *white Neely on a train, given the publicly shared context. I'm over this identity politics nonsense. To me, justice is no charges at all or just criminally negligent homicide without incarceration. Maybe Perry could perform community service and get counseling. It recognizes the tragedy without punishing someone for trying to keep everyone safe. *switching the races changes nothing.2 points

Bubba looked so much bigger than Sasso. You can see how difficult it is for Sammy up two weights. Love the heart, desire and guile. He can't make up size but he gets a chance to figure out the rest...2 points

Norman impressed though, looked like the better guy in neutral. Choosing down in the 3rd was a mistake, should have tried to win it in your best position.1 point

Another good match. Lovett really needs to come up with some go to offense. He is so good everywhere else.1 point

1) can you name a regular season tournament that's well attended? 2) not every college event has to be midwest/northeast 3) have you considered that part of its success is that the teams love going there 4) Vegas is awesome. if you're going to travel to a monster regular season event, why not Vegas? out of curiosity, when is the last time you traveled to a college wrestling tournament?1 point

Lot of low-scoring defensive matches at the tournament, but the whole thing is being saved by the Mad Maxes at 149. The lowest-scoring, least interesting match in these medal rounds at the weight was 5-4.1 point

This Lovett vs Echemendia match has been insane. Such drastically different styles. A neutral guy against a mat wrestler. Echemendia won the takedown battle - avoids going up or down all match. But as he hit his last takedown, he wasn't able to quickly release and he ends up reversed, and put on his back for the loss!1 point

I hadn't thought that the OP might be talking about the TV app. In which case, yeah, that app is a piece of garbage1 point

It totally cracks me up that people seem to justify the killing of someone based off of stories you have made up in your head about denied claims by the health insurance company (by the way the CEO does not make claims decisions)...seriously, you have no idea why, or if health care claims are or were being denied...claiming it was because of profit for the company is weak, ignorant and asinine. Every claim is different and not a single one of you know what the policy language is for any instance you speak of so please stop with the victim bashing and the ignorant uninformed statements.1 point

The Flo app ok your smart TV is frustrating for many reasons that have never been fixed. If you go to a tournament and look at the match replays that recently occurred, you either cannot scroll through the entire list of all matches that have occurred or it will just perpetually repeat the matches it just showed you when you scroll to the bottom(been like this for years). Very hard to watch select matches. So I used to click on the matches I wanted to see on my phone and then reload the TV app and watch the Continue Watching videos, but that is gone now. Not sure when Continue Watching disappeared, but this shouldn't be what anyone has to count on, but if you're watching one match at a time because there is no split view on TV and it is the quarters and multiple mats have matches you want, then you need to be able to track down replays of matches that just occurred.1 point

Couple random observations: Caleb Fish and Chase Saldate - practice room partners and teammates for four years faced off today and Fish took it pretty easily. In the match of Hunter Garvin vs MJ Gaitan I was thinking how bizarre it was that we had an Iowan wrestling in California against a Californian wrestling in Iowa.1 point

Disagree. Floarena makes it very easy to follow. Clicking on the cklv link brings you to the bout board. Click on any match you want to watch. Within floarena you have separate tabs for results and brackets. I think, based on everything that goes into covering such a big event, that floarena presents a very clean and functional interface (Flo, give me free stuff)1 point

When was the last time you heard about the SS lockbox? Not dumb. It was never intended to be part of the normal budgeting process until someone decided to raid all the funds in the SS "lockbox". Now the lock box is full of IOUs. That's it. mspart1 point

UBs franco utopia! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64216269 France's health system under pressure of increasing demands The UK's health system is buckling under the weight of staff shortages and a lack of beds. In France, meanwhile, there are more doctors and many more nurses, yet its healthcare system is still in crisis. President Emmanuel Macron has promised to change the way its hospitals are funded, and to free doctors from time-consuming administration, in a bid to break what he called a "sense of endless crisis" in its health service. mspart1 point
