Ive been thinking about this for awhile. such a stupid thing. ORS when you didn't compete once. he's not even qualified for the trials and did nothing to attempt to qualify. if he (or anyone in this position) doesn't even wrestle, the ORS year shouldn't be granted. such a ruse.4 points

The ORS is more about the development than actually making 'this year' olympic team. And that being the case, for the sake of our country's development vs the world, I'm not ready to take it away from everyone else because of one douchebag.3 points

This came up on the Penn State board. There are some people taking an Olympic RS this year. Whether or not they have “real” chances of making the team or not is irrelevant; you could say that there are only a handful of guys at each weight who do. If you qualify for an Olympic RS but then don’t meet the criteria to qualify for the OTTs (or even try to meet them, such as entering Senior Nationals, US Open, go to U20/U23 and medal, or entering + win the last chance), your RS should be burned and that season of eligibility should go up in smoke. The rule is in place to help people who are actually trying to make an Olympic team. Yes, this is about a very particular individual. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Last year, this dual came down to heavyweight. But because of injuries, gambling, transfers, graduations, regular redshirts, Olympic redshirts and whatnot, Iowa will be a huge favorite this season. There's a swell preview of the match over to The ILLINI Wrestling Blog & Forum & Beyond Plus. The most important bits: WHAT: ILLINI versus Iowa dual WHEN: Friday, January 26 at 8:00 pm (Central) WHERE: Historic Huff Hall, Champaign, ILLINOIS TV/STREAMING: BTN (on the network); BTN+ (next day replay streaming) TICKETS: Free SPECIAL: Orange Out (wear Orange) SPECIAL X 2: Foam Fingers to 1st 200 Fans SPECIAL X 3: Free Kids Clinic (Jesse Delgado, Lucas Byrd) Oh, and we can't forget about our old friend JOMBO™:2 points

I shouldn't be, but I'm constantly surprised that so many (i'm assuming) adults on here lack simple reasoning skills. In what ways are those examples at all analogous to my example? This is elementary school level stuff, man. Depressing.2 points

We literally have Republican Senators on the record telling us they're not allowed to do anything on the border because Trump wants it to run on it. That's where the Republican Party is on this issue. This, of course, is NOT the logic at all, because the indigenous people who lived here before we got here didn't even really know Europe existed nor did they take a hand in geopolitics or take a hand in destabilizing the regions in question.2 points

How were his facts wrong? Here is another source. New Deal or Raw Deal?: How FDR's Economic Legacy Has Damaged America WW2 lifted the USA out of the depression, not the New Deal.2 points

The Supreme Court did not rule that Texas, or any other state, cannot erect razor wires. I see razor wires, barriers, fences, etc all over the place that my state has erected. Therefore, Texas is defying nothing. Simply putting back what someone else defaced. I think the Supreme Court ruled simply that Texas Rangers cannot throw federal personnel who remove state erected barriers in jail if they are acting on behalf of the federal government. Now, the question becomes can federal law enforcement personnel throw Texas officials in jail for erecting barriers? That is a very interesting question. i wonder how barriers around Indian reservations, state parks, national parks, governors' mansions, jails, etc are handled by this ruling.2 points

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6626312/ Transgender individuals who undergo gender-affirming medical or surgical therapies are at risk for infertility. Suppression of puberty with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist analogs (GnRHa) in the pediatric transgender patient can pause the maturation of germ cells, and thus, affect fertility potential. Testosterone therapy in transgender men can suppress ovulation and alter ovarian histology, while estrogen therapy in transgender women can lead to impaired spermatogenesis and testicular atrophy. https://segm.org/ajp_correction_2020 Correction of a Key Study: No Evidence of “Gender-Affirming” Surgeries Improving Mental Health Allowing scientific debate in transgender medicine improves evidence basis In October 2019, the American Journal of Psychiatry (AJP) published a study from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, and the Yale School of Public Health which reported that “gender-affirming" surgeries for gender dysphoric patients are associated with improved mental health outcomes (1). Looking at mental health utilization in the year 2015, a retrospective analysis showed that the more time passed since surgery, the fewer mental services were utilized by patients, with an average 8% reduction in mental health utilization for each year following surgery. From this, the study concluded that surgery has a beneficial effect on mental health, and that benefits continue to accrue over time. However, following a reanalysis of the data, this conclusion has now been officially corrected to indicate that there is “no advantage of surgery.” So gender affirming care including puberty blockers and hormones raises the risk of infertility. This is chemical sterilization. So to support gender affirming care of this sort is to support the sterilization of minors. And don't say this is not aimed at minors because they would be the only ones using puberty blockers. Don't be daft. Gender affirming surgeries was first found that it resulted in decreased use of mental health services. But after a lot of people objected and said the study was wrong, the data was analyzed and found that there was no change actually. Mental health services requests did not change after gender affirming surgery. Now if you are an adult and opt for this, you should be aware of this. But a minor should never be physically sterilized via gender affirming care. This is monstrous to do to our children. So the Ohio legislature is completely, 100%, and in all other ways completely correct in overriding the veto. We now know that these things are true. But if we didn't and were wondering about it, that would not be reason to not accept this kind of care for minors. It is not care, it is sexual, psychological, and physical abuse of minors. mspart2 points

1) Yes. We can't even take care of our own people. and guess who the migrants are going to have the most effect on? not the well-to-do. they are going to hurt the Americans who need the most help. how this is lost on you f'ing dunces is beyond me. 2) define suffering. 3) that's not even the point of that post. you don't find the irony / contradiction between those two statements2 points

Miklus only had 27 bouts. Never had a pigtail. 2015: 7 bouts to earn 7th (lost R2) 2016: 6 bouts to earn 6th (lost in SF) 2018: 6 bouts to earn 8th (lost QF) 2019: 8 bouts to earn 6th (lost R2) A finalist at NCAA will have five bouts. Non-finalist All-Americans pickup extra bouts by: Having a pigtail (+1) Losing in the first two rounds of the tourney and make the blood round (+1) Win the blood round bout (+1) Wrestling the consolation semi-final (+1) To have eight bouts in an NCAA tourney you need to make the consolation semi-final after: losing a 1st or 2nd round bout, or having a pigtail and losing in the QF It's only possible to have nine bouts if place top 6, and have a pigtail AND lose in either the 1st or 2nd round. The extra year for COVID makes it necessary to normalize by the number of tourneys. Only guys with 4-for-4 or 5-for-5 should be eligible. Adjusting Miklus' count and normalizing gives us the following for the list provided:2 points

That's 1! He was the 4 seed and lost to Corey Wallman (Wisconsin) in the first round. He came back to place 3rd with 8 straight wins including a consi pigtail. He beat the 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 seeds along the way.2 points
