  1. Watched a few matches this week and takedowns generaly got "TWOOOOOOO" yelling from the audience. How long do you think it will take until most all are on "THREEEEEEE"? I wonder if many yelling it even realize that scoring for takedowns has changed?

  5. FBI Uncovers Horrifying Extremist Reading Material In Mike Johnson's Home ”BENTON, LA — The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced today that it had discovered terrifying extremist reading material in a raid of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson's Louisiana home. "We were very troubled by what we found during our totally legal raid," said FBI Special Agent Curt Schampers. "When our tactical team breached the door of the home, one of our lead agents called our attention to a piece of reading material on the living room coffee table. The reading material appeared to be a thick, leather-bound book that had pages with gold-gilded edges. Clearly some type of radical, religious text. This type of book is normally only found in the homes of truly dangerous individuals." Eyewitnesses reported seeing FBI agents removing the book from the home in a sealed plastic bag for further investigation. "You could see the fear in their eyes," said Johnson's neighbor Darius Anderson. "I heard them talking to each other and saying they knew people who read that book were radical, unhinged fanatics who believe crazy things and want to take over the world. To think Mike Johnson is a part of something like that…it's pretty scary." When asked to comment on what impact this discovery may have on Johnson's ability to serve effectively as Speaker of the House, Special Agent Schampers had only this to say: "This country would look a lot different if the kind of people who read that book were in charge of things." At publishing time, the FBI refused to comment on horrifying reports that framed passages of religious texts were found hanging on the walls of the home.” https://babylonbee.com/news/fbi-uncovers-horrifying-extremist-reading-material-in-mike-johnsons-home

  7. Now that we have established that the Big Board matters, lets take a look at who is optimizing (haha, we know who it is) the Big Board talent. From 2015 to 2022 (2023 class has not competed yet) the race for the most Big Board Top 20 wrestlers is pretty tight. PSU has the edge over Ohio State 18 to 15. But PSU has gotten 27 AA finishes from those 18 wrestlers (1.5 per) while Ohio State has gotten "only" 18 from 15 (1.2). But where things get really crazy is that 23 of PSU's 27 AA finishes were first, second, or third (85%), while Ohio State had 7 top threes among their 18 AA finishes (39%). Iowa gets trashed a lot for under-performing, but the real issue is they under-recruit. They got commitments from only 9 Big Board Top 20 wrestlers. So, even though those wrestlers averaged 2 AA finishes per, there just were not enough of them. One caveat. The school where the wrestler committed gets credit for all the wrestlers AA finishes regardless of where they were achieved. This hurts Iowa with a lot of recent transfer AAs (DeSanto, Eierman, Woods) and PSU (Dean, Kerkvliet). My logic is this is a measure of high school recruiting rather than retention. For a fuller picture, you would want to look at retention too (independent study opportunity?). It could be that PSU is just getting the best of the best leading to those best in class results. But, that is not completely the case. Ohio State has brought in slightly higher ranked wrestlers on average. ASU has also brought in higher ranked wrestlers on average, though significantly fewer of them.

It is some sort of ist or phobe to do so. Unless your DNA is properly checked ahead of time for clearance to say Polak.

  26. Yes, there have definitely been multiple people saying “he was the best chance to medal,” but didn’t those usually occur AFTER he took those domestic losses? I’m not sure if that qualifies as “hype,” it may be accurate and is based on who he’s beaten internationally, not just him “coming onto the scene.”

  32. Imagine a big company with 30,000 employees. The CEO makes $12 million while the average employee earns $80,000. If $10 million of the CEO's pay was shared equally among the employees, each would get a $333 raise. Let's compare two scenarios: CEO 1 (with $12M) leads the company to a $1 billion profit. CEO 2 (with $2M) leads the company to a $100 million profit. Which CEO deserves their pay more, and which outcome is more likely to result in higher employee salaries? Supply and Demand matters.

  35. The Supreme Court said, "It gives to the honest but unfortunate debtor…a new opportunity in life and a clear field for future effort, unhampered by the pressure and discouragement of preexisting debt." What was the opinion on personal responsibility in the 1930s? Given the judicial stance on bankruptcy, why are school loans treated differently? How is the risk of an individual taking advantage different than a business taking advantage?

  36. The older I get, the more disappointed I am with the educational gap in required life skill education. Schools ought to be teaching finance management at a young age. How to make money. How to save money. How to use money to make more money. Good debt versus bad debt, etc. How many elders would have saved more money at a younger age had a mentor spoken with them about it?

  37. Success is not solely determined by luck or one's family background. Both my parents and my wife's parents had their first child while in high school, had their life and college paid for by joining the military, and made something of themself despite their economic circumstances. Their personal responsibility helped them overcome unfortunate 'birth' luck.

  38. In this historic battle, I believe that we can safely say that NATIONAL SINGLET DAY was a partial success. We had a proclamation from the Mayor of Buffalo, held a contest, had a contest winner, and many people in the wrestling community became aware of our sacred trust. Next year, we will send our request for an official proclamation to the United States Congress. By the way, the winner was a guy from a Chicago suburb, who wore his singlet in class. His prize package has already been sent out. Once we make NATIONAL SINGLET DAY an annual mainstay, we bring wrestling to the Winter Olympics!

  39. Yes but I’m not so much getting on yianni for lack of international success he’s still young but domestically he has 3 guys in his weight for Olympic trials that have multiple wins over him and you never hear half the praise for those guys that yianni has gotten for years ..metcalf if I remember correctly was pretty dominate domestically, obviously his lack of world success is well known … I mean Yianni lost 2 straight to Zain filed a lawsuit , gave smug interviews bragging about how he has Cornell lawyers and they are the best, flew across the world to wrestle Zain when team usa went to a ranking event, hurt zains knee , then Zain had to cancel his wedding and mess up his training for worlds just to beat yianni for a 3rd straight time a few weeks out from worlds , when you rock the boat and cause that much commotion in the wrestling world I personally think you need to back that up and years later he might not even make the team this year , I also don’t see much of difference in ability from then til now so for people calling me a DBAG I’m sorry that when yianni started suing people for a rematch the benefit of the doubt went out the window for him in my eyes

  40. It changes the profit model from treating sickness to preventing sickness. —— Imagine a primary care doctor agrees to a value-based payment arrangement. They receive $1,000 per patient per year from the insurance company. If they have 500 patients, they earn $500,000 a year ($1,000 x 500 patients). Now, in this model, their income is not tied to the number of tests or treatments. Instead, they're focused on keeping their patients healthy. If they successfully keep their patients healthy and avoid expensive hospitalizations or procedures, they may earn an additional bonus. Let's say they manage to save $50,000 in healthcare costs by emphasizing preventive care and good management. In this case, they might get a bonus of, let's say, 20% of the savings, which is $10,000. As one example as a patient, your provider may start initiating communication to you to coordinate physicals, screenings, vaccinations, chronic disease monitoring, health education, etc. Its like having a loving momma remind you to brush your teeth, cash for As, and dad saying come outside and play catch… less cavities, less Fs, less fat… https://catalyst.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/CAT.17.0558

  41. Yeah, I remembered that 'down" year for Bruce... all before his amazing gold medal performance @ Barcelona in "92. How many of you remembered seeing his round 3 win in the last seconds over David Gobejishvili ("88 gold medal winner over Baumgartner @ Seoul ?) 0-0 , ref stops action and brings the two combatants to the center meter circle. As both get set to wrestle when the whistle gets blown, Bruce noticed the Gebejishvili visibly relax... he was satisfied that they were going into overtime and to go after Bruce then. It was then that Bruce bulled rushed him at the whistle, grabbed his legs and bowled him over for a 3 point exposure! With only a few seconds left after they both landed oob... it was virtually impossible get those three back. That opened up to winning the B group and going after the gold (beating Canada's jeff Thue, 8-0.) THAT, after his 1991 medal-less showing at the Worlds, was something to behold! D3

We are at 33 TRILLION Dollars in debt right now. Would it be fair to say we could easily cut back 500 billion dollars in spending. Then you have 100's of Billions of dollars in waste and fraud that never gets resolved. Then you have old Joe wanting to forgive 500 billion dollars of student loan debt. I have no problem if Joe and all of his buddies want to dig into their own pockets and payoff student loans but don't take my money to pay off the loans of others. Myself and my 5 children have all paid off their student loans. Its called personal responsibility. You signed for the loan ,you got the degree. You owe the money

  45. This is what was said in the 1992 USA wrestling yearbook in the BB write up - "He enters the Olympic year after a rare non-medal performance at the 1991 World Championships, where he placed seventh. Closer Inspection shows that Baumgartner was a victim of bad breaks. In the 1st round he lost to the tough 1989 WC Ali Reza Soliemani of Iran. His other loss was to Turkey's Mahmut Demir , who poked Baumgartner in the eye to score the winning points in overtime." After that book was published prior to the 1992 Olympic trials BB went on to have some of his greatest years. He went Gold, Gold, Silver Gold, & Bronze over the next 5 years that included 2 Olympics.

  46. Ok. Take it a step further. You brought it up but didn't address it. Why are prices soaring? While you're doing that. I also mentioned health insurance companies. Many not private. Motivated by profit. Other than the ACA handcuffing them to spend a certain percentage on care they would otherwise look to make as much money as possible. All while trying to avoid two things: getting sued, or getting bad enough press that their bottom line takes a hit. Things that any other public company would do. Hospitals may be private. But you cannot tell me that they have the best interest of their patients at the forefront of their mind. The Catholic hospitals that own a significant portion of beds in the country refuse certain procedures when the person giving birth and/or the baby is in life threatening danger. If you are a hospital and you have less than an 100% commitment to do whatever is necessary/possible to do NO HARM, then you are not looking out for the best interest of your patients and therefore not living up to the ideals of someone in the hospital business. Made up? As Thor said, 'all words are made up' but what is said is a real thing. Sorry. Fiduciaries have to put the interest of their customers first versus their own financial benefit or at least have to be able to prove they tried. Why can't a hospital or insurance company be held to a similar standard?
