  1. Pirate puts a ton of time into that stuff during the season. His results match what the NCAA uses for qualification, so it's worth a bit more than that. He doesn't get paid for that time, so I try to at least reciprocate some type of financial appreciation for what he compiles. And he's not my size.

  9. Nagao has a vested interest in saying he didn't take the highest offer from a reputation perspective. That said, I doesn't mean it's not true. As I've stated, I don't doubt people might take a discount to go to Penn state at this point. Man....Nicolls.

  10. I mean, FRL is entertainment so glass houses and stones and such. The show is fine, I like hearing Askren and it's sorta funny that CP seems to be afraid of him and doesn't throw shade his way like he used to with Willie, Nomad, and Bratke. Flo has been sh!tting on the online forums for years yet several of their staff read and post on them, and they use them as a free source of content. Pyles repeatedly states his disdain for those on the forums, yet has had countless takes over the years that were very obviously cribbed directly from message board users.

  11. Nagao also said he didn't plan to transfer after NCAA and then just woke up one day and wanted to test it out, but "no one offered him a bag" to go into the portal and that wasn't his motivation. However, he ended up accepting a lucrative (even if not the highest) NIL deal and discussed $$ on his visits. Funny how that works out. There hasn't been one transfer to yet come out and say "I transferred to this school because they offered me the most NIL money" Brooks keeps saying he might not come back next year. Does anyone really think he is debating what classes to take next year and not using it as leverage to get a bigger NIL deal? Or that 4 AAs just transferred to Michigan because the weather is so good in Ann Arbor during wrestling season? Let's not be naive, money plays a big factor, and likely the biggest factor, even if kids don't feel comfortable admitting it publicly. And to be clear, I am happy for all these guys for maximizing their value when possible and getting paid. I am also fine with them down playing the money and claiming it was for the education, fit, culture, whatever. I just take any quote they give with a grain of salt.

  19. These just do not feel like the kind of results to get Brands fired. It really comes down to expectations though. Does Iowa administration expect Gable-like results? Does Iowa administration expect drama free teams? Does the degree of drama in the wrestling program come anywhere near the degree of drama that football and basketball programs typically produce? Do non-revenue sport coaches get more rope than revenue sport coaches? Do things like fund raising that leads to new facilities matter? My uneducated guesses for answers are "not really", "to some degree", "not even close", "yes - a lot", "yes - a whole lotta lot". Note: The time range only covers two of Brands' four titles. Going back to 2008 would significantly improve his numbers. Unfortunately I only have complete team scores going to 2010. I think I know where to find earlier scores, though, so stay tuned.

  23. As long as we are obsessing with age I should get this out of the way. I am 58, but I read at a 59 year old level. And only compete against 56 year olds so I can dominate the dojo.

  24. Looking for crooked politicians is like trying to find a fast-food place. Not hard. Which is exactly why we should support the folks in DC that actually want to do something about it. I don't give a rat's ass about the party any of these crooks belong to. They shouldn't be hiding behind their party - and neither party should let them.

He's obviously been the little shit getting in to the trash cans down the way, but still... cute as all hell watching him struggle to get back into his little nook that he is obviously and quickly outgrowing.

  36. wtf are you talking about. Go back to "Derrrr greco greatest me no like USAW only dum dum leg grab. Grumpy ellipses go 'brrrrrrrr." Snyder moved to the OTC in high school. Won a world title less than a year after departing Colorado Springs. He has cited his success directly to training at OTC many times, including a recent vlog/blog/documentary/whatever kids call content these days. Cox moved there after college. Won a couple world titles after "only" being a bronze medalist. I'd say that is a pretty good success. Aaron Brooks joined the EAP program at the OTC and skipped his last year of high school. I'd say he is doing alright. But... Nice... Try...

Are you saying that the Biden's should get a pass because Trump's daughter and son-in-law apparently got a pass according to you? I've heard that this is not a viable line of reasoning for conservatives. Apparently it is viable for those on the left of politics. mspart
