  9. You should take a step back and ask yourself if the current macroeconomy is directly due to three items: 1) The fed accomplished what was probably the most optimal outcome in an unprecedented scenario to continue propping the economy, but the can was kicked down the road and now we have to pay it back but it could have been much worse. This is neither a D or R result but rather an economical result. 2) A significant amount of inflation is due to energy costs directly attributed to the dependency and decoupling of Russian energy post-Ukraine invasion and the ripple affect experienced at a global scale. 3) Americans workers finally saw significant wage increases despite no federal minimum wage increase. In turn, prices across all sectors immediately shot up. I am not entering into an argument of the right or wrongness of that outcome but am merely bringing it to the forefront as a major point in this particular conversation Maybe those bullet points resonate or maybe they don't. But I think the current state of the economy is not Sleepy Joe's fault - it would have happened no matter who won.

  21. I think it is because he can’t make 92 and be effective. He got big brothered at OTT even though he wrestled two nearly perfect matches, but thems the breaks. If he has committed to going down and Zahid is crazy enough to go up I am here for it. I don’t think it will happen but if it does then I think Zahid beats Jackson and Moore lays the smack down.

  23. There have been many, many cases where the rules were not strict enough, yet the rich guys always want them rolled back even more. Many, many cases where large companies, generally financials, have been fined 10s of millions for screwing investors, customers, and employees out of billions. I like those odds, where can I get some of that action?

  25. I usually don’t have a problem getting stuff my kids need with my admin. But. The doubling the cost makes it harder. Though I have brought “large orders” that were on the fence.. then I mentioned “we don’t have a mat that is our school colors or have our logo and can we look into getting one?” Admin: ”Don't they cost 5-10 grand?” Me: “well yeah, but the fb Coach mentioned it that we don’t have one” admin: “how much was your equipment order?” me: “3500” admin: “go ahead and send me the invoice for that”

  26. Good news is that Joles didn't fade. Wrestled strong to the end. Mora was bigger, but as FC said, not a very big Hwt. With RT point, I 'think' the final was Joles 6-2. The dual gets interesting NOW... after the break, last (5) matches from 125-157, should be good ones. If you haven't jointed the stream, it's not too late. As mentioned it's at gobison.com, $7 for the match (technically 24-hour pass) I'd be the last half will be more than worth it.

  28. Yeah, I think it's a safe bet that when he went to the portal that they withdrew the scholarship. It's not announced... it's pretty much a given... so you probably aren't going see any announcement. Why would they keep him on scholarship for the next year if he were leaving the program?

  29. so far, we started at 165: Caliendo beat Sparks in a close match for a decision, but Sparks gave him a nice black eye as a souvenir 174: O'Reilly beat Sax in a forgettable match for a decision 184: Salazar makes light work of Parker using brute strength to manhandle him. Tech fall. 8-3 after three matches. Foy and Pentz on deck

  30. Does a fine stop auto accidents or moving violations? What does any of this do to help prevent gun violence? Repeat offenders don't seem to be the problem unless you count places like Chicago. I don't think gangs are going to being paying insurance. Mass casualty events don't seem to happen more than one per shooter. I'm failing to see how this insurance idea prevents anything? That's not even mentioning my ideological problems with complying with it.

  35. I think it’s fair to say Seth Nevills was recruited over for Kerk. Taylor probably still qualifies too regardless of the motivations. Don’t think Beard/Hoffman qualifies. The transfer portal has certainly increased the frequency of this. Lamont/Burwick of course probably the most recent example. Maybe before the transfer portal but I think Suriano to Rutgers basically resulted in both Alex Mackall and Brandon Paetzell transferring out. Then can probably say Suriano over Medley at Michigan too. Maybe Real Woods over Wyatt Henson (although now Henson wrestling 133) Tate Orndorff over Gas Tank Gary

  38. It was just announced at the press conference that Musukaev was not able to make it here and is out so scratch that match. However, Ghasempour said he might wrestle 97kg against the USA so that would be a #1 vs #1 matchup with him vs Snyder.

  39. I'll watch the video, but I've been a gun owner my whole life, so I'm not anti-gun. I grew up a working class kid in Minnesota, which meant we grew up around and using guns. I've owned shotguns and rifles for hunting my entire life, but don't own handguns nor "military weapons." I've gone through Minnesota's gun safety programs, so I take guns and gun safety seriously. Too many didn't have the training that I did, don't even own guns themselves, and espouse no restrictions on firearms. That troubles me. With all of that said, I'm good with banning certain firearms. I've gotten by perfectly fine without them and they'd be a good riddance to our society. I appreciate your decency in talking about this.

  40. I don't even know where to start, you chatty Cathy's are all over the place today. There is no link between an international arms dealer (maybe the biggest of all time) being freed by Biden and US gun crime. That is purely a distraction by those who had little to offer in regards to Biden being made a fool of on the national stage once again but I'll play along. It is the internet after all. I am glad to hear at least some support for firearms here. Although a lot of it seems based on policing the law abiding, and "solutions" that pile on to an already countless list of gun laws that don't solve much if anything. The laws we have are ridiculous in number, scope and also poorly enforced. Faith that the next set will solve anything is a fools errand. "Common sense gun control" is an illusion. The goal is the elimination of private ownership of firearms without express permission and then only a select few guns approved by the state. Politicians who don't know anything about guns and have armed security are trying to buy votes with an illusion of safety. Anyone who wants more regulation is naive. When it really comes down to it, who is responsible for your safety? I hope this is readable because it pretty much sums up what 2nd amendment supporters are up against since 1934. Now, I'm not one to throw over the table and scream. Most gun owners aren't or with the amount of guns in this country there would be a lot more gun violence than there is. Those who are serious about reducing violence do it everyday with their behavior, how they raise their kids and how they live their lives. It isn't legislated. As with most things, more laws are only the answer if you're a fool or a politician.

  43. BB, you just want to put people in buckets. But there are no real buckets. All Black people do not think alike. All Asians do not think alike. All gays do not think alike. All whites do not think alike. All Ds do not think alike. All Rs do not think alike. All posters on a wrestling chat board don't think alike. The real racial antipathy is putting minorities in buckets and saying they are all the same and all need the same help. That is pure racism. Regarding equality, no one that I know is against equal opportunity. Very few people that I know are actually for equal results. If you are for equity, why aren't you for everyone being a congressperson that wants to be? Why are elections held? So we can hopefully discern who is best for that role. You practice inequity whenever you vote sir. You practice inequity whenever you buy this cereal over that cereal. You practice inequity whenever you have the plumber to fix something and not call some other plumber. You practice inequity all the time and probably never stop to think about it. mspart

  45. Probably because I'm rural and a data guy but the gun topic is confusing. Guns are statistically a nonissue. 3M of 330M U.S. citizens (1%) die annually. The causes of death are not limited to: Heart disease - 700K Vehicles - 40K Homicide by firearm - 19K 0.5% of deaths are caused by homicide from a firearm. The average citizen has a 0.006% chance of dying from an idiot using a gun. Your chance of death from a public mass shooting is 0.0~%, while over 80M citizens own guns and over 400M guns exist in the U.S.

  48. I hear you. That said, of these other "reports" all are delivered second hand or via hearsay - only the UW athletic department come out and posted something coming directly, officially, from them (other than the Burwicks themselves, which at times has been inaccurate). Can someone point me to something specific from the Nebraska camp, e.g., athletic department or coach (not hearsay or second hand reporting), that says something contradicting the UW statement?
