I don’t doubt that you think it’s a good move, and I can see your reasoning.

I just don’t think Max, his family or the gopher coaches are actually looking into it seriously at all. Maybe for his last year.

184 seems perfect for Max. There was even talk of him going 174 his true freshman year, since he walked around at about 190.  Plus, he is pretty good buddies with Nelson at 197.  I could see the Gophers bringing in Berge to compete with Nelson at 197 though.

I also think chances are pretty good Berge will be a Gopher. Off the mat, I believe his fiancé is going to be in the U’s dental program.

How willing is Slumlord Supreme going to be to open the checkbook this year?

Iowa has some gaping holes at 133, 149/157 (whatever weight Block doesn't go), 165, 197. Might include 125 in there until proven otherwise.

Crookham is an incredible talent, but with some of the acquisition problems Iowa has had with transfers (injuries, etc), is Knox or Fuggitt a better fit/spend than him for 133?

How on this green earth is Endene still allowed to wrestle yet another year?   It seems criminal and unfair to other wrestlers:

Massoma Endene has already competed in college for six years as of the 2025-2026 season.
Here is a breakdown of his collegiate career:
  • Junior College (2 years): He spent two years at Iowa Lakes Community College, where he was a two-time NJCAA All-American and a 2022 runner-up.
  • Division III (3 years): He then competed for three years at Wartburg College, winning three NCAA Division III national championships at 197 pounds.
  • Division I (1 year): He transferred to the University of Iowa for the 2025-2026 season for his final year of eligibility.
  • And now he is apparently back at Iowa for next season.   Count em: 7 years!  Even guys like Lucas Byrd must be jealous

Pavia v. NCAA, No. 24-6153 (6th Cir. 2025) :: Justia

This ruling essentially negates the NCAA ability to count JUCO years as eligibility.  The NCAA appealed and it was adjudged moot.

A good summary is here:

Sixth Circuit Dismisses NCAA Appeal as Moot: Pavia’s College Athlete Eligibility Continue | NIL Revolution

I want to see competition at 197lbs.

McEnelly to 197 does that.

McEnelly also U20 Gold at 86 KG.  I think the best version possible isn't a 184lb version going up.  I think it's a 197lb version going down.

McEnelly doesn’t stand a chance against Barr. Barr just majored/teched all of 197 while max went to OT with the 174 pounder who bumped up to 197 and took 7th

2 different levels

I think McEnelly gets smoked by Barr, even with 15 added pounds of muscle.

Why do you think McEnelly should go up and not Ferrari or Sinclair?

I said McEnelly to 197 IF Berge to Minny was a thing, with Berge going back to 184lbs.

SDSU had better options at 197 than 184 this past season.  Berge still moved up to 197 anyway.

Who are the most under rated guys in the portal? Guys who could have Wyatt Henson Lock Haven type seasons?

Bennett Tabor (Hwt) would start for a lot of teams.  Split matches with Jim Mullen and Cade Ziola this year.

He would be a good fit for a team needing a one year guy while other guys redshirt. I know of such a team. Probably a few.

No offense to Stanford, but when’s the last time a quality wrestler transferred in instead of outta Stanford?

When was the last time an undergraduate academic student transfered into Stanford from another university?
