Stop the roll through ankle/foot grab. Too often its sole purpose it to force a stalemate (which is just stalling by another name). You may disagree, but I don't care. I know crap wrestling when I see it.

Would you rather see a guy on one knee the whole match, a guy standing there with one arm behind his back or a guy rolling thru looking for an ankle?  At least rolling is doing something.  🙂

I prefer the parallel spiral ride

I agree.  Those guys should stop defending and just be taken down.

Yep. Rolling through results in tons of takedowns.  It probably gets stalemated less than a shot does.  Neutral danger already solved the problems that were there.

What about rolling thru just to avoid takedown, like in Lilledahl trying to not give up a merkle against Peterson?

Was that egregious...

I think most times the ref just needs to call the stalemate faster. I know that can be difficult because sometimes someone gains an edge after a while. We just lose a lot of clock trying to improve positions.

If a wrestler is not attempting to score points then it is stalling. Sometimes guys go far ankle and they are looking to score. Other times guys go far ankle and they are just grabbing on looking for a stalemate. If the case is the latter, hit them with stalling!

Pins and tech falls should be considered stalling as its avoiding wrestling the full 7 minutes.

No, just being a wiseass.

Luke's one arm cartwheel to avoid a trapped arm and head with merkle about to be applied was crazy athletic. First 10 seconds of the whole dual.

I never liked the move, but I no longer think it is a big deal.  It's a valid defensive move, but once the attackers started learning to counter the counter, it became part of the normal evolution of wrestling.   What I love seeing is the guy rolling to grab a leg and getting trapped on his back before he can lock the leg.  I'm always cheering for guy shooting for single or double.   It's the only two moves I ever had.  I wish I had known about wrestling on one knee back then.

The funk leg pass was in it's infancy when I wrestled, or wasn't even invented. I have never done it in my life and I wouldn't even feel comfortable teaching it since I don't know how to do it!

Yep. The neutral danger rule made scrambling tolerable. Beyond that will just be over regulating what wrestlers are allowed to do. Saying a guy can't counter with a leg pass isn't any different than saying they can't sprawl. We just need an emphasis on calling stalling when guys are actively avoiding wrestling. If a guy is on one knee and not engaging, then call stalling. If a guy repeatedly dives for an ankle and holds on for dear life with no attempt to work through the position? Call stalling.
