Not mine.  What do you think Dave Schultz would have done?

block the dudes head and crowded at an angle similar to how he would deal with pat smiths fakes.

WC...it is hilarious. my point was, smart, well-coached wrestlers figure it out. whether on his feet or on his knees, smart guys figure out how to make it work by finding a way to score or finding a way to make it look like his opponent  is stalling instead of whining or making excuses.  If he's stalling, expose it. Wrestling is at a point now that when things get too difficult to figure out, folks want the rule changed or they bellow,  "he's stalling." He's got my ankle...help me ref! I didn't know how to prevent it and I don't know how to counter it. Start counting. He dropped to his knees ref, I don't know what to do. He's stalling. Sheesh!. Ha. P.S.  I recruited Brian Smith to Michigan State when I was assistant there... apparently he learned something. Probably not from me though. I was just a hack.

I guess he didn't see the Davino Ayala match. Everytime Drake went to the knee Ben would engage with head hand fight. Ben made it so Drake could not work from the outside in his so called stalling position

its not worded like one, unlike your stupid allusion to a guy with one leg.

We mock what we don't understand.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

When I see guys like those in the videos, I just see it as them doing what they can to get lower than their opponent.  Yeah, it's a defensive position, but also offensive.  I don't see a problem with it.

Amazing to have you on the forum Mr. Milkovich.  Hope you stick around.  I generally agree with your assessment and think it's great this forum gets a taste in how a coach approaches this scenario.  Which is correct but as you and I know dropping to a knee is a cheap trick.  Enforcing a rule that prevents a wrestler from dropping to a knee in neutral when there is no engagement wouldn't be a bad rule

Is a blast double from the outside dropping to a knee with no engagement?

I'm a ref.  I need to know how this rule would be worded. How would I apply it?

I'm serious.  I'm approaching it from the perspective of someone who might have to administer it.

For instance:  What if someone starts to shoot, then aborts?  What about fakes?

Fair enough and great questions. A great example is the Ferrari Sinclair match. Many times prior to any engagement Angelo drops to a knee and sits on it.  Not blaming Angelo. It's a smart tactic but it's anti engagement.  It's easy to say, "well just hit him with a blast double or throw him in a front headlock."  I don't know what the remedy would be.  Maybe a warning and then hit them with a stall call.  I get where you're coming from and understand it's a gray area.  But I do stand by the idea that it doesn't promote engagement

I would be opposed to it as a verbal count.  My biggest issue is that dropping to one knee is a fundamental part of the sport. "Dropping to a knee to avoid wrestling" is different.  We are already told that avoiding wrestling is stalling, though.  I could see making this a point of emphasis, however.

is offering a lead leg with no forward action stalling? Its a style. A defensive stance does not promote engaement(ask lewan)  If he does not continually lunge into his undercut, then I might believe he is stalling. If he continually backs to the edge on the knee then yes stalling.  going to the knee to get an angle (low to high attack) and then going to the underhook or swing single frequently is active wrestling.

Rules aside - how do you take a guy down that's on one knee, two knees?

I do think it'd be funny to see someone just post on Angelo's head every time he goes down to two knees

Hmm. I'm not seeing NDI or the tOSU/Iowa dual listed on ESPN's replays. Any idea where the replay is living?

Its bad for the sport.  4 hands on the mat.  4 knees on the mat.  The top of 4 shoe tops on the mat.  Remember when they wanted us out of the Olympics?

My duuuude thank you!

Davino looks like a cat playing with a toy the first time Ayala goes to his knee. Just posting on the head over and over, waiting, and then was ready to engage the moment Ayala gets up. That's funny man. Did Ayala get a stall call at all? (I'm at work so skimmed through). He dropped down a looooot. Even when he was down by two takedowns.
