It's not banned because it's a naturally occurring steroid. It is banned because it is a masking agent.

Ah yes, the Daton Fix defense.  How is it that all these athletes who go to GNC just that one time always get the bad supplement, but people who have been going there for decades are never so lucky to find free steroids in a bottle of vitamin C?  This world is so strange, all those jacked top level athletes getting tripped by not reading the label.

Most people would intentionally seek  out tainted supplements if they knew there was a free androgenic boost in them.

Interesting. Ban him.

So, an athlete takes steroids to, among other things, boost his testosterone and increase muscle mass.  Body stops producing testosterone in response.  Hormone level drops.  Unrelated medical tests show lowered testosterone levels.  Athlete takes DHEA, available OTC in the US, in the belief that it will help raise testosterone levels.  Athlete gets out-of-competition test, pops for banned substance DHEA.

Nah.

I saw a pic of supposedly the bottle at wegmens.  It was literally just called DHEA.  The title of the product.  No wonder he majored in being a hospitality Forrest ranger or whatever it is.

Maybe I got fake news’d, but If he popped for DHEA, then it’s not one of those scenarios where he popped for trace amounts of steroids and blames “tainted beef” or some obscure OTC supplement that his team was able to google.  It would mean he’s just an idiot.  DHEA supplements might as well be sugar pills.  It’s not a masking agent either.

Popping for DHEA shouldn’t really hurt his reputation, though it most certainly will.  I do believe he should be punished, especially since it’s now been twice that he’s been negligent.

And here come the apologists, as predicted...

America by design does not have a systemic cheating scandal. Capitalism literally prevents from a state-led doling system. Capitalism promotes individual accomplishment and privatization, and these ideologies carry through at the athletics level as well. Rather than seek out USA-led doping, Lance Armstrong will find a small elite team to blood dope; Marion Jones and Barry Bonds will find a private lab for the Cream and the Clear; David Tay... uhh, "random dudes" will seek out Treigning Lab - these are just major examples everyone would be aware of. Daton Fix will buy from Chemyo and Aaron Brooks will mask from Wegman's because DHEA is obviously how you overcome pneumonia (my doctor is a plebe and only gave me albuterol and 5 days of doxycicline and prednisolone).

The point is in America there is no "central" *doping system. It's is up to the individual to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and find the juice on their own.

i have to contradict you now, according to Grok, DHEA would mimic testosterone and its derivatives (in a testing sense not a performance sense obviously). I agree its a sugar pill, but one he probably is only pretending his took. Looks like he's lying

Yes — DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is banned by WADA, and here’s why:

🎯 1. It’s an anabolic precursor

DHEA is listed as a Category S1 anabolic agent under the WADA Prohibited List. It’s a precursor steroid that the body can convert into testosterone and other potent androgens, making it capable of enhancing muscle strength, recovery, and overall athletic performance

💪 2. Performance enhancement potential

Research shows that exogenous DHEA significantly increases blood levels of testosterone, DHT, and estrone wada-ama.org.   Its ability to shift the athlete’s hormone balance and trigger metabolic changes is enough for WADA to deem it performance‑enhancing

Alternative Supportive Measures

During pneumonia recovery, focus on evidence-based supportive measures:

  • Nutrition: Maintain a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals to support immune function.

  • Rest: Ensure adequate rest to allow your body to heal.

  • Hydration: Stay well-hydrated to help thin mucus and ease coughing.

  • Follow-Up Care: Attend all follow-up appointments and adhere to prescribed treatments.

If you're experiencing lingering symptoms or have concerns about your recovery, discuss them with your healthcare provider to explore appropriate interventions.

Conclusion

While DHEA plays a role in immune function, current evidence does not support its routine use for pneumonia recovery. Prioritize proven recovery strategies and consult your healthcare provider before initiating any new supplements.

So next to the fish oil.  Was it between the fish oil and the snake oil?  🤔

It's interesting that fish oil is mentioned. One of the key components of fish oil is DHA (please note the similarity to 'DHEA'), short for 'docosahexaenoic acid', which is an omega-3 fatty acid with reported health benefits. Many of these fish oil supplements have 'DHA' printed right on the front of the label (along with 'EPA', which is the other major health component in fish oil). Trying to read between the lines, I immediately took the fish oil reference to mean that Brooks mistook DHEA for DHA. No idea if that's what his did was really implying, but it was my first thought.

No, it could *never* happen in the US of A.  Literally.

Important to remember that ALL of the information is coming from the Brooks camp, not the testing agencies who are limited by their rules and regulations.  Early headlines can control how stuff is received and there will be a cohort of people who never check in on the story again and, no matter what comes out later, will default to their memory of the initial headlines.

First of all, if i put something in quotes like this "", it means I'm quoting  something someone "demonstrably" said.

So trying to come off clever while not knowing how to use quotes is a bad strategy.

Second, is grok's claim incorrect? I don't know the point of your post unless mine was counterfactual, in which case you could have said that, or grok was just a political trigger for you or something.

by the way, I'm sure you are too good to use AI, but for the rest of us we have to throw prompts into them, like the pathetic losers we are.

Right in front of the holy water.  That's why he "thought" it was OK.
