Except that this is patently false.

He gave a long interview about this after he initially took the position, may have been immediately after he finished wrestling at worlds.  He went in depth about how making the decision was gutwrenching because Cael and all the guys in the PSU room were his family and PSU wrestling was his home.  

Never let facts get in the way of a good story though...

Honestly a lot of tossups at this point. It will be more clear once we see some of these guys at these weights, but for now I wouldn't say there's a favorite for the dual. There's still plenty of time left in the portal as well.

Facundo seems to have a bigger frame (and Lockett the higher ceiling) but otherwise not sure.

Lockett is really good though.  I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he were to defeat Mesenbrink at some point

Dee has said he wants to be at 165 and he doesn't want to redshirt. He wrestled up this year to get tougher competition but I don't think he's truly a 174. Could be down the line, but probably not next year.

This certainly seems to support the idea that he was not already planning to leave before Welsh joined.  He did make it very clear he wanted to be a 4xer though.
