The main argument will be from guys in the Ivy League who could not wrestle in 2021 and did not get an extra year.  Also Minnow did bring up that Josh Humphreys was injured in 2021 but got denied a medical RS for an extra year.  That could be a damaging precedent for Brennan’s case

If I had to guess, maybe Little Rock is arguing that since 2020 was their first year as a team and half of their lineup was true freshmen, that 2020 should be able to count as a redshirt year or something (since he did not use a redshirt otherwise)?

I do appreciate the persistence from Brennan.

In his first PAC 12 tournament as a true freshman in 2020, he went 0-3 and didn’t score a point in any of his matches.  

In both 2022 and 2023 he went 1-2 only beating guys from Bakersfield and didn’t score a point in his 4 losses.

In 2024, he went 1-1 and finally notched a win over a non Bakersfield opponent, and even scored 2 points in his loss.

Then of course goes 2-0 this year

Agree.  If they DQ Brennan I don’t understand how the guy from Oregon State doesn’t get the bid.  He even beat both of the other participants in the PAC 4 so it’s not like there’s an argument about who was the true 2nd.

If you remember as I do, the free year was to assure participation in the Jan to Mar short season.   The NCAA thought that if they offers up a free year, most kids would participate. Nobody knew what the Virus was gonna do to sports and if the season would be completed or not.  Many kids did not want to participate and burn a year and have the season cut short like the year before.   The NCAA offered this solution and we had a championship.     If the virus would have ended the season early(again), it wouldn't have counted against the athletes

So why is there only one athlete involved? How about all the other conference wrestlers the same age? They just didnt qualify for NCAA? was the 2020 Pac tourney wrestled then the shutdown?

Yes.  But it wasn't about wrestling; it was about the football and baseball revenue but was applied to all sports.How much revenue did the NCAA lose by not having March Madness in 2020?  They were going to do their best to avoid the same loss in 2021.

What are you trying to say?   The athlete in question did not compete  the free short season therefore he doesn't have the 5th year available

A wrestler may compete in 5 post seasons if one of those were the 2021 championships unless they competed in the 2020 championships.

I do agree with you, but my guess is the logic is that this is as much the Pac 12's fault as anyones, including the other Pac 12 teams fault for not catching it.   I mean he did compete in 5 pac 12 championship and not the 2021 pac 12s. 

So the NCAA is saying, the Pac 12 sent us an illegible athlete so we go the alternative and not give the Pac 12 another chance.

Yes.  His freshman year was their first season competing and he was one of 5 starters that were true freshmen.  3 of those at 165, 174, and 184 who went a combined 1-44 on the year.  (Brennan and one of the Carsons had 8 wins each)

That's not fully correct.  You should change "unless they competed in the 2020 championships" to "unless he competed in 4 postseasons prior to 2021."  For example Gable Steveson wrestled at the 2020 Big Ten Championships, which he won.  This is Mr. Stevenson's 5th postseason.  He won 4 titles in 5 tries at the Big Ten championships.  Aaron Brooks is similar, but without the Olympic redshirt.  He won 4 Big Ten titles in 5 tries including a win in 2020.  Mark Hall however competed in 4 Big Ten championships the 4th of which was in 2020.  He was not eligible to wrestle in 2021.  The same was true of Vincenzo Joseph.

My opinion on Brennan is that he must be deemed ineligible and disqualified.  The Pac 12 Runner-up should replace him and Little Rock should be stripped of the PAC 12 team title.

Pretty sure that's what @BarSeries is saying they did but they may have misapplied or misinterpreted the rules.  Smaller universities will probably have fewer athletic compliance personnel and/or spread thinner.  People make mistakes.
