It seems like just yesterday that a whole slew of folks were bashing the Brands Bros and calling for their heads.  Boy, has PSU broken the spirit of so many Big Ten fans or what?

The problem for old school Big 10 wrestling fans is this: they want to hate PSU, but they are wrestling fans and they can't help but admire how good PSU is on the mat. If you hear guys in here bashing the Brands, they are probably Iowa fans. Probably longtime Iowa fans from back when Iowa was the dominant team, also.

Yes the way you are describing TR seems like you’re trying to bash him.

Just looked at the video again and looks like he landed on his shoulder, probably a slam either way because of the trapped arm

Doubt he was yelling at the kid. Probably didn’t like the DQ and how it happened.

He called the kid AND the coaching staff "soft" on multiple occasions.

Tom is 100% in the wrong on this. The fact you're attempting to even defend his actions is crazy.

No probably. It is 100% an illegal slam because of the trap arm.

Also referred to them as "cowards".

He was #35 on @Husker_Du's 2023 Big Board. I would not consider that a 'top-level' recruit. A good/great recruit? Absolutely. Top-level? No. To me, top-level is top 15-20ish. If your definition is different than that then there ya go.

Some context is needed here.  Cannon, talent wise, in every way shape in form is a blue chip recruit.  He won Beast of the East as a Freshman at Wyoming Sem. Then he unfortunately got cancer. When he finally came back from that he went to Ironman and knocked off Nasir Bailey.  I think he lost in the finals.  I remember hearing or reading that when he came back he wrestled with pads to protect his body.  Maybe it was just in practice.  So yes, talent wise he's a high level recruit but after battling cancer there were of course question marks on his health.

Feel like you’re exaggerating on some parts, but I’m not going to go back and forth with you…. Live with whichever story you want 👍🏻

This is just not true, the Brands brothers get way more hate from outside of the program 9though there has been growing consternation within the fan base for the last couple of years.)

Exactly. He was #35 for a reason.

I keep forgetting this back story. Thank you for the reminder.

Are we going to act like him battling cancer was not a huge obstacle to overcome? And that there was obvious question marks about what level he'd be able to get back to? It's no different than an athlete that battles serious injuries their whole HS career. We know how good you were BEFORE, but we're unsure how good you can be AFTER. It's unfortunate that he went through that, and I have nothing but respect for him. He's way tougher than I ever will be. But it's something that is factored in.

Yes, I've heard that girls who wrestled only folk in high school get spiked on their head constantly when they first start to wrestle college freestyle.  You get better at defending it when you know it is coming.

I don't think I have heard of any girls that only wrestled folk in high school knowing they would be wrestling freestyle in college. Nor do I not know any girls who didn't know which style they were actually wrestling in the middle of a match. Weird.

This is a great opportunity to point out, I don’t have any dislike for the brands, they are a vital part of wrestling, and college wrestling becomes a shell of itself without them.

I have  frustration with them that they aren’t developing guys, outwardly it appears this is the case because they are refusing to put the fire and brimstone aside to explore the creativity and positive thinking that has revamped so many programs.

It’s brutal to say, but it feels like the thing that made them great in their time as wrestlers is currently a ball and chain keeping them from getting where they want to be.

I entreat the hawkeye faithful to pay for a T&T ayahuasca excursion.

Maybe just go, psilocybin and a Grateful Dead bootleg from 3/23/74 at the Cow Palace.

Never mind that's just me...✌️

They were definitely having fun when they won the team title.  I enjoyed the Good Murin America series
