And the write-up on USA Wrestling:

 https://www.themat.com/news/2025/february/27/ncaa-division-i-wrestling-committee-releases-qualifying-tournament-allocations-for-2025-championships

Each qualifying tournament was awarded pre-allocations to the national tournament based on regular season performance by conference wrestlers through February 23.  The pre-allocations were determined by using a sliding scale of the three standards, win percentage, coaches’ rank, and RPI ranking; while never going below the base of .700 winning percentage, top 30 coaches’ ranking and top 30 RPI ranking until reaching the maximum of 29 wrestlers per weight class.

For each wrestler that reached the threshold in at least two of the three categories, his conference tournament was awarded a qualifying spot in that weight class.  Each conference is awarded a minimum of one automatic qualification per weight class, which will go to the tournament champion, even if they did not have any wrestlers reach at least two of the three thresholds.  NCAA championship spots for each qualifying event will be awarded at conference tournaments based solely on place-finish.

After all the conference tournaments have concluded, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet in-person to select the remaining 43 at-large qualifiers, which will be announced on March 11, while brackets and seeding will be announced on NCAA.com at 8 p.m. on March 12.  All weight classes will consist of 33 wrestlers.

Can Penn St qualify 10 with these allocations?  I'm worried for The Jimmy.

Doubt it.  With only 9 @125  Lilledahl likely misses and there's no way Bartlett makes it in with only 7 @141

EIWA 133 with only one allocation and a few factors in play:

Crookham may or may not wrestle.  If he does, he would likely get that single allocation, stealing it from Ethan Berginc.  Surprisingly Kurt Phipps did not earn an allocation and will have to win the tournament or hope for an at large.  And separately you have Ohio State transfer Braxton Appello at Sacred Heart who is 10-2, as well as two former NQs in Micah Roes and Brendan Ferretti.

The big losers this year are the re-aligned conferences.

EIWA/Ivy loses 5 slots combined, while the PAC12 drops 7 spots.

That is in spite of the allocated pool being larger this year.

The ACC was the big net winner this year.

Note: The net change number for EIWA is the net change for EIWA+Ivy.

Also at 133 which only has four at large spots:

three allocations at 133 in the ACC for Connor McGonagle, Tyler Knox, and Ethan Oakley.  On the outside looking in is two time all american and three time qualifier Kai Orine.

Coaches have O'Toole ranked 5th.

I doubt a single coach actually has him ranked fifth.  He was likely ranked first in 12 (or 13) polls and not ranked in the other 2 (or 3).  I believe they throw high and low out, so that would mean he was ranked first in 13 and not ranked in three.  13-1=12.  12*33 = 396, which is the total amount of votes that he obtained.

Pretty wild to leave him off three ballots given that he wrestled 2/22 and was clearly submitted by Missouri as the starter. Makes me wonder about the actual mechanics of the voting.

KOT at 5 is a travesty.  This should be the impetus to move to media rankings, if anything.

Knowing just a little bit of the behind the scenes of coaches voting is that what happens is coach's ballots save week to week and they can go in and submit the same ballot each time. Keegan O'Toole was ineligible to be ranked two weeks ago and those 2-3 coaches who did not have him ranked I assume just submitted their same ballot as the previous week without looking to see if anybody new became eligible.

How is it a "travesty?"  Who does it affect or hurt?

This year the Ivies got 26 of the 48 (54.2%) combined allocations for EIWA and Ivy.
Last year the Ivies got 23 of the 53 (43.4%) EIWA allocations.
Two years ago the Ivies got 22 of the 45 (48.9%) EIWA allocations.

may not hurt keegan, but maybe there are others who are not ranked...who could be...?

So you think KOT shouldn't be ranked at all?

No, he is saying the fact that 3/16 coaches didn't include him make it safe to assume others were not included as well.

Gilcher at 174lbs seems to be an oversight as well, right?  They (Indiana) also had uncertainty at 174lbs.

no he should be...

it doesn't hurt him to be 5th... or are these used for the seeding at ncaa's?  isn't there another ranking to come out?

im talking about an unranked guy who maybe should be ranked but got forgotten in one of those oh i will just post my last weeks rankings... and then that conference gets hurt...
