The only Division I invitational that only allows for one wrestler per weight is Cliff Keen Las Vegas. The rest of them all allow for more than that. I honestly think we will see more invitationals and fewer opens, yes. Not this year, as schedules are pretty much baked in, but in future years.

The WAC is rebranding as the UAC. As far as Little Rock being a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, that's true...for now. They move to the UAC on July 1st.

They're rebranding from the Western Athletic Conference to the United Athletic Conference on July 1, 2026.

It's a member of the Texas A&M University system in Stephenville, Texas, about 90 miles southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. They have recently (in the last couple of years) finished their transition from Division II to Division I, and will be (as of July 2026) all-sports members of the United Athletic Conference, and would have a nice natural rivalry in that regard with Little Rock.

The new Pac-12 is not an autonomy conference, they can choose to opt-out if they so desire. Also, the autonomy/non-autonomy conference designation is for all-sports members of the four conferences that are autonomy, not the affiliate members.

Not even. Autonomy conference schools (the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten and SEC...all-sports members, bear in mind) don't even have the option, they are required to opt-in. Non-autonomy schools can opt-in or out, for their entire athletic department (some conferences, the CAA comes to mind, required their members to opt-in).

Chattanooga has two. The one not mentioned already in this thread is Clarion.

Correction: 133 had five at-large bids also. The Big 12 had their eighth allocation thrown back because Evan Frost wasn't available.

Had to check on this one...but it's two countable matches. A win in the first match and then a medical forfeit that counts as a loss in the next counts in that regard. (I thought the same thing you did at first)

Nope...very much eligible for at-large eligibility. Really is a preliminary look at who needs an at-large.

Not entirely true. The backup wrestler's winning percentage and RPI are measured against the threshold to see whether they would have allocated, and if they would have, they keep their bid. (This rule has been invoked twice in its history, both times by service academies)

BTW, the administrator in that link talking to them like naughty third-graders is Deputy AD Joey Logan, literally five minutes before their dual with CSU Bakersfield.

I'm sure I'll be doing a deeper dive once the allocations are out on Thursday. I've cleared my schedule for that day for that reason.

The other conferences would usually (but not always) benefit from Iowa's not earning allocations, not the at-large pool.
