You guys need to stop with this Parco thing.  It's just a bad matchup up for him.  And not that Carter was impressive tonight but Angelo at no point showed any signs he can score on Starocci

He was in decently on a leg at one point.  Still had a ways to go but I thought he had a good showing.

Let's just say this - your attempt to play a race card is directed at the wrong guy.

You seem to be in an overly emotional state - let's take this up again tomorrow if you're still fired up.

I’m confused at how they got there too.

Carter didn’t even get a takedown.

That was as disappointing as it gets. Starocci wins but he's going to go down like a weak version of Ringer. Never make a world team, never find that extra gear at the highest level. Luckily his smack talk is S tier when it isn't F tier. I really thought he would show up, and that is absolutely not discounting the fact that the Focus Family has some outstanding defense (ick)

I actually liked how Iowa competed, even while being outgunned.  I could see the Iowa guy finding ways to win 133, 149 (even though i think stylistically it's unlikely to actually happen) 157, 184, and 197.  Iowa no shot at 125, 141, or 165 (which is crazy since they have the second best guy).  174 was technically close, but no shot, IMO.

Right now the talent gap is too wide, the next two recruiting classes are key if Iowa is going to make this competitive in the near future.

EDIT: I'm not saying they would win those 5 matches, obviously.

I would say it's much more likely that Oklahoma State would find a way to win against Iowa than the scenario that you describe, with Iowa wrestlers at 149, 157, and 184 finding ways to win.

Re: Parco i was saying that all week.  Watching him legit score on SVN gives more hope, though I won't pick it ever.

I think you're underrating Ferrari's showing against Starocci.

Either way, your team won, so to the victor goes the smack talk.

I am not sure how anyone, especially an Iowa fan, has two legs to stand on complaining about the stalls on Ferrari given that he was standing on two legs out of bounds for both of them. These are exactly the kind of calls we all call for. Ferrari spent the first period backing out of bounds and then not working to get back in bounds. When one guy is in and the other guy has two feet out for extended periods of time then stalls are warranted. Ferrari even used it to his advantage at the end of the first to avoid the takedown.

But I will cede to the ultimate authority.

What do you say, Dan?

Huh? I do not think (nor did I say) Iowa has a shot at beating Penn State in any full lineup dual this season barring an unexpected injury default. Yes, Okie State could beat Iowa.  I was talking about Iowa having paths to victory at individual weights.

Not underrating Ferrari.  He's a stud and is going to be really good but at no point in that match did he threaten Starocci.

Hammer has proven hes reeeeetarded in here. Commenting on a wrestlers speed in the third isn't racist. Hes a dumb donkey, hammer that is.

Confidence is such a crucial element of wrestling.

I imagine Ferrari's confidence just jumped about a mile.

Which, IMO, means he just became that much more dangerous.

coming out to the Halloween (Michael Meyers) theme like he's going to kill Ferrari and then not once trying to initiate a scoring sequence is clown behavior.

That's a really cute post.  Let's test your wrestling knowledge and tell me where Ferrari showed he can generate offense on Carter

Carter took shots, but Ferrari did the splits and avoided td. Good defense. But Ferrari backed out of bounds as well.

He only shot on reattacks from I recall. He didn't actually initiate the sequence.

Had Barr gotten riding time under a minute then he doesnt need to take a bad shot and maybe that match gets to SV.

Except he lost, so we accept he lost. Ferrari lost too

Let's be honest - neither Angelo or Carter was showcasing high level offensive prowess.

My point was that, following this match, Ferrari's increased confidence level may well impact his future matches in a significant way.

That was about the most positive take I had at the end of that match.

Teemer. Come on. I'm in his corner

I want him to win. But we got get a takedown. Something offensive. Re direction. 7 weeks or so. Levels in sport. Next level requires a takedown.

First off, Ferrari was impressive. Gonna be a problem.

second, if he gets confident against Carter, that may cause him to reach and Carter will indeed teach

Again, thats cute that you think that but I provided you with the video to show me where Ferrari displayed an ability to score even one takedown.

IMO the only guy that looked better than I expected was Ferrari, and he didn’t even get a takedown, and might not be the starter.

Buchanan looked good but he’s the #1 guy in the country and I’d fear the dreaded PSU adjustment and avenging of the loss at NCAA’s.

Parco and Teemer were both disappointing IMO.  Probably Caliendo and Cruz too.

Maybe your program is getting by on the strength of a brand from a by-gone era, and you should’ve thrown everything you had at David Taylor when he was, fleetingly, on the market.

Why would I care to do that when it has nothing to do with my point?

Pick a fight with someone who actually cares about what you are trying to say. Because I don't.

Use your head for something other than to keep your ears apart.
