Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) first confronted Hegseth, a former Fox News host and Army veteran, about allegations he had a drinking problem.

“I have read multiple reports of your regularly being drunk at work, including by people who worked with you at Fox News,” Hirono said.

“Senator, those are multiple false anonymous reports peddled by NBC News that run directly contradictory to the dozens of men and women at Fox News Channel who I worked with and said they never saw that,” Hegseth said.

Looks like it is a case of she said he said.   Hegseth is calling bull on the "reports" and he was under oath while doing so.   So mush for the "documented and current drinking issues" concern.

I'm sure you would apply this standard equally to a democrat....oh wait. We all know if there were similar reports about a dem nominee, you'd call them the world's most dangerous alcoholic.

Hegseth's drinking problem is widely known.

The point is, none of the high ranking Dems seemed very concerned about alcohol issues with Coach (lol) Walz.  Was there a thread on here about such issues?  Did you post about Walz' drinking?  I'm thinking not?

Tim Walz has been sober for 30 years. What was there to be concerned about?

According to Hegseth and the FOX employees he cites, you have apparently been mislead.

Who appeared drunk in this hearing?  Hegseth or Hirono?  And was not Sen Mullin's comments correct and germane?

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I don’t care what the topic, using this as some kind of form of credibility is ultimate humor.

Imagine ‘citing’ the very staff of the company that had to pay Billions because “…yeah, we lie, so what, don’t call us news”.

Good god we are that lost.

Sure, why not?  I like how you assume to know things about me.

am just not a huge fan of hysterical innuendo and speculation for political purposes.  I challenge you to find me posting about Biden's senility, Kamala's drinking/cocaine use, Pelosi's drinking, Clinton's affairs, etc.  It really kind of bothers me.

I probably tend to care most about policy and the ability to communicate it.

BTW, I happen to have had a good working relationship with a close enough relative of Ted Kennedy's second wife (Victoria Reggie).  I had been in Senator Kennedy's presence on three occasions.

Hegseth has had legal issues regarding drinking?  He fled the police in a high speed chase?  This is all news to me.

Now you're just making things up that nobody said.

No... that's all stuff that happened with Walz.

Hegseth is dealing with anonymously spread rumors.

You are a smart guy; you know the difference.

Go Hawks!

Hegseth clearly has a serious drinking problem, especially if you include drinking a gallon of horse sperm on a dare and having to have his stomach pumped.

Look it up. It is on Facebook, so it is true enough for... some.

Yup. Of course, it's all "fake news," just like every single report of wrongdoing by a winger.

ALl stuff that happend with Walz 30 years ago and he has been, as far as we know, stone cold sober since.  Hegseth has multiple recent reports about heavy drinking.

They are not anonymous.  The Senate has names, those names just aren't being released to the public.  This was referenced numerous times during the hearing whenever Hegseth would try to hide behind that weak shield.  This guy's own mother wrote an email castigating him for abusing women, he promised multiple REPUBLICAN Senators he wouldn't drink if he was confirmed.  Because this doesn't match with some people's political leanings they're dismissing commonly used sourcing that they would readily accept if it matched their political leanings.

This guy was a relative nobody, a backbencher on Fox & Friends that just happened to match what Trump was looking for (young, good looking, etc) so he got the nod, and so we learned more about him and it's readily apparent he's unfit.  It won't matter, he'll get confirmed because many of the Republicans Senators are cowards (although some, I'm sure, are fine with this).

Here's the part, it's all about "pissing off the libs."  Hegseth isn't "special."  There are dozens of guys that could enact the same policies Trump wants that don't have multiple reports about public intoxication, that weren't fired from two Veteran's organizations at least partially for drinking, that weren't accused of sexual assault, that don't have multiple women restricted from commenting by NDAs, etc.  They could have gone for any of them, and had a ho hum confirmation.  But Trump and his team want to flex and see who will be "loyal".  And so the Rs will cower.  Maybe they'll have some backbone over a legitimately dangerous person like Gabbard or Kennedy, but just for that whole laundry list up there about Hegseth who's "just" unqualified?  He'll sail thru.

You’re literally arguing that a guy who has been sober for 30 years has as serious a problem as the guy who is currently an alcoholic. And we know if would be the reverse if the parties were reversed.

You guys don’t have to debase yourself like this. There are plenty of non-alcoholic Republicans who are more qualified to run the defense department than Hegseth. It’s pathetic.

I’ve been hearing Pete Hegseth’s accolades for better than two years.  He’s been a guest on many shows that I don’t suppose you watch.  A recurring theme is his being a soldier’s soldier and an excellent candidate for a high position, especially involving the military.

We’d be better off with a drunk Hegseth than a sober Loyd Austin, who was AWOL and unreachable for at least two extended periods during his term.  When Lincoln received reports that Grant was a drunk, he said find out what he’s drinking and send some to all my generals.

Your opinion that he’s a nobody, a backbencher, picked for his looks, is entirely fabricated and you couldn’t support it if you had to.

A back bencher on Fox & Friends?  He undoubtedly was, lol, WTF are you even talking about.  He wasn't one of the main people.  This isn't even contested, lol.

But that’s not what they said on those couple of shows you probably didn’t watch, so you have to take that into consideration.

He’s not considered a backbencher by anyone not afflicted with TDS.  Quite the opposite, he’s been considered an up and coming, promising candidate for bigger and better positions for years.  You’ve never met him, have you?  You don’t know him, do you.  You just allow your affliction to take over and spout off revelations of your own ignorance, dragging your own shredded credibility down further.

LOL.  Great so people aren't allowed to have opinions on people they've never met, so I'm sure you've never expressed opinions on this very subforum about people you've never met...

He's a backbencher on Fox & Friends.  He was not one of the main hosts, and was brought in as fill in or weekends.  I'm sorry this simple fact hurts your feefees.

Based on his performance at multiple lower level civilian positions in government? His performance as a flag grade officer with Joint experience?

Why would his stock keep on rising?
