It was a maybe when he made the team, now Saduleav is going....if he doesn't go I'm gonna be pissed. If Taylore beat him I'd put him back in the GOAT discussion.

I feel like it's kind of, "cemented" already, but I hear ya...💪

After he won his last worlds he said if it wasn't for him Yazdani would be the best ever, so he's the best ever. Then had all that exploded by turning out to not the best guy in the country at that time. He cemented his legacy as "great" when he won worlds the first time, but I'm pretty sure he wants to have claim to being the best ever to do it.

Not enough titles and way too many losses to be in the same tier as people like Medved, Saitiev, or Fadzaev.  They have double his (or more) medal count.

Maybe if he went 4/4 undefeated but no, he has a lot of domestic losses and those count as well.

I feel like there's already a lot of excuses for Sadz before this hypothetical, which diminishes the excitement of the match to an extent... He's old, he hasn't looked like himself lately, he's distracted with Russian military stuff, etc. etc. Don't get me wrong, it'll be an extremely hyped matchup if it happens, just too bad it didn't take place 4 years ago when both guys were firmly atop their respective mountains.

admittedly he needed a faster start to compare with those guys. I'm just saying that this win would give you enough to piece together some sort of frankenstein argument that he's the GOAT.

I think we are evaluating only his career as a USA rep at 86kg. And I think that is a fair way to evaluate it. Burroughs was the P4P best in the world at the time he was keeping Taylor off the team, so maybe that logic implies that Burroughs is the best American of this era, which is my opinion.

Burroughs kept DT,Dake,Ringer,Imar,Howe all off teams until 2021 aside from guys moving up and that alone makes him the american goat imo. Davids's peak was as good or better than anyone's though.

once you start talking about peak's you're in gable territory.

Hmmm... Taylor not going IF Sadulaev goes @ 92Kg, doesn't sound like Taylor would do that at all.

He'll be there in Albania.

(Should be good!)

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

These last two posts have me confused.   Is he going or not?   It just isn't clear to me.

Sounds like he is.

The longer it takes the less likely it is that he'll decline. He tacitly accepted by winning the tournament, if he backed out after taking his time with the decision that would show a lot of disrespect for the team.

Plus Zahid is probably caught in a snow storm and needs all the time he can get to get out of it and ready for a tournament.

So what you're saying is, he'll be on weight...:classic_dry:

Is there someone in Russia that sadulaev can never defeat similar to Taylor who can never beat Dake.  His record against Dake prevents him from being considered best ever.

Wouldn't exactly be the first time....
