i didn't ignore anything. he split with Sasso. he beat AOC.

those two, at that point in time, were no better than the Brandon Sorenson he beat as a true SOPH at Edinboro.

true or false: Lugo beat as good an opponent while at Edinboro than he ever did at Iowa?

He also only had 1 loss against a B1G schedule and was the rightful #1 ranked wrestler. You're picking and choosing which data points best serve you and dismissing without any real reason.  Your basic argument is if you ignore all the evidence that shows how clearly Lugo improves, there is no evidence he improved, which....cool?

ok i'm done arguing.

if you think

1) Lugo was light years ahead of where he was at while at Edinboro

or

2) Lugo was taking top 4 at ncaa's that year

be my guest.

you continually saying i'm ignoring evidence does not make it accurate.

i've acknowledge all the/your data points.

i didn't consider him much better, elite, or a lock to do anything.

and i don't consider his progress to be out of line from the natural expectations of maturity and experience.

again, he beat NCAA finalist Sorenson years prior.

if anything, he became more consistent, so i'll give you that.

I’m saying he was an AA at Iowa and wasn’t at Edinboro.  Which is a fact while the rest is pure speculation from all of us.

If the unfinished senior season of Seth Lugo is the best example of “Iowa trained,” these days, that is a problem.

At one point this same coach turned a couple under the radar transfers from Blacksburg Virginia into NCAA champions.

Now he’s plugging in blood round/low AA transfers to replace other bloodhound level guys who also happened to have a gambling problem.

Eierman and Woods had their highest placements ever at Iowa, both 1 seeds.  Just didn't happen in the last match, and lost close matches to great opponents.  Teske was never an AA anywhere else.

Woods made the finals.. and lost to a guy he previously had a win over.

Eierman made the finals.. and lost to a guy he previously had wins over...

You don’t think Lugo was taking top 4?  Like you said, he had beaten 2 seed O’Connor and split with 3 seed Sasso. He also had beaten 6 seed Lewallen, 7 seed Lee, and 8 seed Degen after having lost to him the previous year.

I think he was a safe bet for the top 5.

And what do you have against Mitch Finesilver? He was top 4 in 2019…

That doesn’t preclude the Iowa wrestlers improving. Just means they were out coached and out wrestled by their opponents. Who might have improved more.
