Who were the two athletes?

Give it time and caveira will somehow come up with it being Cyler Sanderson and David Taylor with the violation by Carl.

Any chance Bubba Jenkins was involved and takes the fall?

How do we know that this has anything to do with recruiting outside the portal.   Maybe Chris was simply texting the kids about the proper frig temp for storing supplements.   Surely the NCAA can see the importance of safe product storage.

I would love to know where the line is drawn for improper recruiting of transfers. I can't believe anyone would contact an athlete before they entered the portal. No honor among thieves these days. I, for one, am shocked and dismayed that such things are taking place behind the scenes of college athletics.

My goodness you must've really been super duper dismayed ~15 years ago.

Everyone is dogging on the NCAA but Perry should get full blame here. I hate to say it as an OSU alum but the dude has attracted trouble ever since he got into coaching. When joined OSU staff our dudes started getting hurt - a lot. Like several season ending injuries a year. And they started wrestling very defensive and conservative and the only pin move anybody used was Perry's arm bar literally for several years. It was a very boring time as an OSU fan, and concerning because obviously the athletes were not getting trained properly for wrestling or for their health. Then he gets Daton in trouble by giving his Dad illegal supplements, Daton almost got a 4 year ban from NCAA wrestling and he should have been fired for that. Then our top recruits aren't performing well and all the "OSU doesn't develop its athletes" stuff comes out. Then he balloons up and puts on like 100 pounds and nobody on staff says anything which was so weird. Then rumors fly about Perry living with his athletes, getting wasted all the time in Stillwater, and being a general nuisance. Then the coaching switch to DT, he sweet talks Christian Carroll into following him to ISU, and a few months later CC bails. Then he joins the ISU RTC, Iowa State gets a bunch of injuries that same season. Then there's reports about him contacting athletes inappropriately - this was a year ago, if we knew it on forums then he is obviously being too obvious. Now he's in trouble with the NCAA... I mean at some point you have to give the guy credit for not being a great influence

But at least his brother is a fantastic influence, so there's that...

Troy Nickerson was their coach

If so, then it's a little weird that one of the panel members was from there.

"Members of the Committee on Infractions are drawn from the NCAA membership and public. The panel members who reviewed this case are Jeremy Jordan, dean of the David B. Falk College of Sport at Syracuse; Kay Norton, president emerita at Northern Colorado; and Mary Schutten, executive vice president and provost at Central Michigan and chief hearing officer for the panel."

Pretty sure I posted on here that he should've been let go after the Fix Fridge Fiasco.  Its not an assistant coach job to recommend supplements to old folks.

Good point ... you got me there making assumptions without looking at the hard data.

This is all interesting but I gotta ask, how much influence does an assistant have on the training of athletes? Can OKST and ISU's injury history really be coughed up to Perry's influence? I never hear anyone blame Morningstar for Iowa's frequent injuries, for example

Is Morningstar involved in extra curriculars with his athletes?

It sure seemed like Perry had a lot of influence. It was like a switch flipped in the OSU program, a bunch of bad things started happening all at once. Then he goes to ISU and the same things happen. Maybe he’s not the cause, but he sure seems to be there when these things are happening.

anyways I’m not trying to belabor the point, he’s OSU so I want to stick up for him, but based on a bunch of years of observations I’d say if he’s in trouble he probably deserves to be in trouble.
