 unsportsmanlike or obnoxious?

Might be obnoxiously weird, but since he does it win or lose I'm not sure how it could be unsportsmanlike.

He's showing everyone up, just like Bo Nickal did when he would try to help his opponents up after he beat them. I don't like that it at all, leave the guy alone. He crushed his dream.

Yeah, it's like the post-match hug. Sure, when you win, you're feeling awfully friendly! When you've spent... probably this entire year hoping to etch your name alongside Larry Owins or... Hendrickson or whoever, the biggest upsets AND get a NC, just leave the guy alone.

We shake hands after the match. That's good enough. I'm happy for Mitchell that he doesn't need to win or have money or acclaim to be fulfilled, but... Caliendo probably would have FELT more fulfilled there with a National Title. He didn't get it, so... lets just leave him be!

9x and talked shit every time... during the match

Didn't he talk shit after the match to a guy that was almost backboarded?

No Hepner cleared that up he said Mitchell thanked him for battling and gave him props for finishing the match he was just super fired up from the match when he was doing it

I shouldn’t wade in here but against my better judgement…

Not a good look for Caliendo - the attempted choke holds during the match followed by the podium hand shake snub. I’ll wait for all the posters who piled on Davis to come and pile on Caliendo for the next 2 months. I’ll be holding my breath…

It's a fine look for Caliendo. He was going for a desperation move...and it looked for a split second like he might have something.

But again, how many times do they need to shake hands after he just ended his dream of being a NC?

FWIW, there was a point where Mesenbrink was riding Caliendo (this was after Caliendo went for the choke headlock and Mesenbrink took him down again) and I was wondering if Mesenbrink was talking shit in Caliendo's ear (it kind of looked like it, and Askren would do this when guys wouldn't open up and has he has shared that Mitchell likes to talk mid-wrestling).

Ok. I'm glad I wasn't the only person who saw that and thought that.

Caliendo went to his back, didn't even attempt to roll through even though he was about to get decked, and kept trying to apply pressure to the neck. He wasn't trying to score at that point. He was trying to choke him out.

Good lord, there are certainly some softies in the wrestling fan world.

Ya, this isn't that big of a deal. 😂 I saw the video and was like ok so he didn't shake his hand. Why is this video all over the place on FB.

Speaking of Messenbrink vs Caliendo...it has been a little over two years since FauxJimmy accepted "The Bet" from @PortaJohn involving Messenbrink vs Caliendo.... At the time MM had beaten Caliendo in their first match 12-6.  FauxJimmy was convinced that it was fluke and that Caliendo was "underrated."  He lost the bet as MM majored Caliendo that week. 7 matches later and MM beats Caliendo 20-4 in their last meeting ever in college. Jimmy left the board for about a week and never paid up, and Caliendo got beat worse in the last match than in "The Bet" match. Below is a post of "The Bet" that was never paid" one of many by Faux Jimmy, but not as many as the real Jimmy on TheMat boards.

Let's bet on this since in your words  it's so realistic.  Straight up.  Caliendo wins I leave forever.  Messenbrink wins.  You leave forever

Sure.  I think you are underestimating how good Caliendo is.

Don't the podium wrestlers usually shake hands at the Olympics and Worlds? Either way, I don't think Cal has some sort of grudge or anything like that. He just wrapped up his college career 0-9 against MM and the reality of not getting it done is crashing down on him. Brands mentioned right after the match that Caliendo was in a world of hurt. Hard to blame him, he should talk to Daton Fix.

Yes he did. He had Mesenbrink on his back... for a BRIEF moment, but... he's gotta go for something.

I had no problem with that or with him not shaking hands... again. Probably sick of shaking Mesenbrink's hand!

I'm talking about the one 10 seconds into the second period. At no point in time did he have MM on his back; he was either going to choke MM out or get decked himself, because he made no attempt to roll through, at all.
