I'm unaware of Minnesota's roster makeup, but are you sure a 7th year Chris Cannon who went 5-10 over the past two seasons (5-9 last year) is an upgrade over what they have currently?
He beat Vito 10-6 and 8-4 and both matches were 1 point until the 3rd period when he got a match sealing takedown. I wouldn't call that "soundly". He also was beat by Vito 13-3, who Ono teched in just over 4 minutes. Yes, I know free is different than folk. But I'm must playing devil's advocate.
Spidle is a dawg and his NCAA tournament shows that. Wins over Shawver (former AA) and Phipps (former bloodrounder) and respectable losses to Bouzakis (bloodrounder) and Van Dee (AA). I'm a big fan.
As a fan, here's what I'd like to see:
125: TS
133: Figs
141: Vega/Jamison (whoever is better)
149: Swids
157: Teague/Robideau
165: Dee
174: Facundo
184: Ryder
197: Merrill
285: Doucet
I'm not offended. I don't have a dog in the fight. I'm just saying it's certainly not a forgone conclusion that Raney will take Vega's spot. Especially since Vega will have a year head start of being in that room.
Super 32 title, Fargo title.
Wins in the past couple years over Ben Davino, Sam Herring, Tyler Wells (yes, that one), Dalton Perry, Alex Braun, took Bassett to the brink last year at the Open. Sergio will be fine.
