  1. I don't think he would transfer either, but I also thought him and his dad were adamant that he was a 174lber not a 184. Things do change.
  2. Last year, Minnesota double forfeit at 184 when both guys made the finals. Brands made comments how their guys wrestle.. Starts about 3:20 mark in the below link. I expect Arnold and Ferrari put it on the line. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/videos/sports/college/iowa/wrestling/2023/12/31/heres-what-tom-brands-had-to-say-after-soldier-salute/72070591007/
  3. Perfect. I was going to pick Latona (8) but thought I needed a Darkhorse instead.
  4. 125 - Eddie Ventresca (5) 133 - Reece Witcraft (10) 141 - Aden Valencia (DH) 149 - Ridge Lovett (2) 157 - Ryder Downey (3) 165 - Hunter Garvin (4) 174 - Danny Wask (7) 184 - Parker Keckeisen (1) 197 - Christian Carroll (9) Hwt - Jimmy Mullen (6)
  5. Assume you meant Kueter but I initially read it as a huge upset thinking it was Bastida taking out the defending NCAA champ...
  6. The NBA doesn't support the G League. It OWNS the G League. They created it to help with development. The NFL does not support NCAA football financially either. As mentioned, UFC fight pass has a college wrestling edition for $2.99/month and had some decent matches this last weekend. If we assume they paid something/anything for the rights to broadcast then the UFC has put more money into college wrestling than the NFL or NBA has into an entity it does not own.
  7. True, but back when going two nights in row was common, emojis weren't even around. Maybe its the emoji's that made these kids soft. Learning cursive made us tough, dammit
  8. Sure it was close but called correctly. From the video angle, it seemed Waterman might of had a TD after the neutral danger but its clear Davis had his leg and then pops up with it. I also thought the score was deceiving. It was 2-0 takedown match. The reversal made it seem closer and iWaterman was close to stealing it if he would came out on top in the last scramble but I don't think any PSU should be worried about Davis based on that match.
  9. The possibility that Kerk might not repeat really has you triggered, huh? Where does he go from here if he doesn't compete the year. NFL is out, WWE is out, might as well go back to what he is the best at and see if he can make a go. In no way does coming back hurt his long term career plans, it only has triggered some PSU fans it appears.
  10. With Gable coming back, there will be 4 weights with more than 1 NCAA Champ in the bracket. 141 - Allirez & Mendez 174 - O'toole & Haines 184 - Starocci & Keckeisen HWT - Gable & Kerkvliet I am not the historian but this has to be a record, right? 40% of the weights could see 2 champs go at it. Philly might go down as one of the best individual tourneys ever.

  11. I am guessing once they pivoted to get Kueter full time, they didn't want to come over the top and bring in Gable after Kueter sat out all of the football season.
  12. If you only watch college wrestling for the team race you then you haven't seen much drama in a while. Gables return makes the HWT individual bracket more interesting. Even if Gable is a lock to win, you now get Wyatt H v. Greg K on Friday night (if ranking hold). Also the battle for seeds becomes more interesting with them and Feldman and Younger to be on the opposite side of the bracket.
  13. I think Jagger wasn't mentioned because he was talking about the weight changes. I have no inside knowledge but Jagger is listed on their roster at 165 and, if he is fully back, he would be my pick to start over Wilson.
  14. It probably depends on what you mean by biggest obstacle. If you mean freshman Carter was less likely to win (in part by being a freshman) then you might be right. But as far as opponent, give me 2024 Keck over '21 KemDog
  15. Looks like all of the Husker upper weights are moving down. Antrell Taylor down to 157 Bubba Wilson back down to 165 Lenny Pinto to 174 Silas Allred to 184 Cam McDanel to start at 197
  16. I do miss Kentucky Mudflap
  17. Minneapolis was a no brainer. I am nervous on how it will go in a football stadium but open minded enough to give it a shot. StL over KC is too bad. I think I am in the minority but I don't get the appeal of StL. It seems more nostalgic since they hosted so many times previously and people are familiar with it but if you stray from the area between the arena and Ballpark Village, there isn't much going on.
  18. My mistake. Even still losing an athlete to an assistant job didn't have the impact that Cael leaving for PSU.
  19. In the moment it happened, there is no question it was Cael leaving ISU. He was given the HC job at like 26 with the intent to make sure he didn't bolt like Gable. Cael still left, and it set ISU back. They went from being in the top 5 consistently to a bottom program instantly and then fans had to deal with the realization that they couldn't even retain the greatest college wrestler ever at his alma mater. PSU fans might be bummed Taylor left but it won't have major impact on PSU. I won't be shocked if most PSU root for OkSt when they aren't competing against PSU. That wasn't the case at ISU when Cael left. Gables departure is more hindsight regret IMO. At the time, he was going from assistant to a HC. No one knew he would have unprecedented success so quickly.
  20. If JB has too much Hubris, PSU fans must be really struggling to root for Starocci...
  21. I think O'Toole has to be the favorite in Folkstyle (2 Titles at a higher weight and the best Folksytle wins over Carr) but it's not a foregone conclusion. Is PSU going to any big tournaments (no offense Black Knight Open) where Haines and KOT might meet? PSU coaches are great at making adjustments for NCAAs but not sure if they will see Mizzou before NCAAs.
  22. So you don't like the head clubbing, a legal wrestling move in freestyle, but you do like MM's antic, which occur after the whistle and/orout of bounds?? I don't know why PSU keep saying he isn't a gracious loser except it fits their agenda. He typically shakes hands and walks off the mat. No incidents any World or international events when he has lost either. Regardless, show me a gracious loser and I'll show you a loser.
  23. My take is almost everything always goes PSU way and some of their fans (not all of them) don't seem to handle it well when it is not 100% PSU love fest in the wrestling world. In the last 6 months: Carter called out JB then didn't show up at the weight Bo talked crap before one of his fights MM was pushing the line (maybe overstepped) and JB responded. (Askren admitted MM was over the line) Carter then talked more crap about what he would do if JB pushed him (Sidenote, where was Carter this weekend? He made this exact weight in March) PSU Fans boo JB at USAW wrestling event PSU fan then heckles and talk more crap. I don't see why JB has to turn the the other cheek. He feels a certain type of way about it and has the right to say whatever and whenever he wants. PSU fans/wrestlers can be more respectful if they choose or they can deal with being called out on their behavior.
  24. Even in the NIL world, you have to be AA level talent and actually accomplish it to get the bold part. Not everyone is and its doubtful the ~10 kids he called out by name are all of that level. He isn't giving practical advise, he is taking a blanket stance that doesn't necessarily apply to all kids. Sure if you have the chance to earn half a mil, kids should take it, but lets not be naive enough to claim that any kid that steps on a mat has the opportunity to earn a half a mil before they graduate. About 1% of HS wrestlers compete in D1, less than that will start and even less will AA. We can teach kids to be smart entrepreneurs and good at statistics too. Every kid that gets held back and doesn't make that NIL $ is now a year later in the earning potential.
