  1. I grabbed Ill with the thought that if Byrd wins (even if Davis goes) and the question at 157, it seems really hard for PSU to cover. Plus they could rest a starter since they will win the dual regardless. Other lines out today: Cornell -21.5 v. ASU Stanford -26.5 v. Duke Michigan -25.5 v. MSU Indiana +20.5 v Nebraska ( @Xmas32 is Nebraska sitting anyone? I like the Huskers if everyone goes on senior night) NW +29.5 v. Iowa ISU +13.5 v. UNI North Colo +3.5 v. Wyoming
  2. 125: Ramos 133: Ayala 141: Mendez 149: Lovett 157: Shapiro 165: MM 174: Haines 184: Starroci 197: Buchanan 285: Gable
  3. Who is wrestling 157 for OSU? There was talk that they are determining their starter at Mat Town Open on Sunday. Do they send out Sasso or Cannon and then send both to Mat Town or rest both so Mat Town is a level playing field?
  4. It's new in my state. Every state is difference so maybe they don't all have it.
  5. More lines: Pitt +20.5 v. VT Maryland +1.5 v. Purdue MSU +28.5 v. Rutgers Vir +20.5 v. NC ISU +4.5 v. SDSU Wyoming -19.5 v. Air Force
  6. Correct. I wasn't suggesting they are the same. But who you beat and lose to does impact your ranking. It's why 16-3 NcNeil is ranked 7 spots higher in today's coaches rankings than 16-1 Ty Whalen since he has better wins. Yep, since we won't know who will make the field yet, I was using WS top 30, which could change as guys steal spots, etc. Parco currently has 6 wins over guys in the top 30 at 149 (not counting Echemendia) and two more on the schedule and Johnson currently has 5 with 1 more on the schedule.
  7. It didn't have to be a burned bridge. Wisconsin could have forgiven him. I'd argue hiring Bono has been far worse for Wisconsin's program than Donny interviewing somewhere without permission. What happens if they fire Bono and still don't land an Askren to replace him?
  8. Parco still has Cartella and Young. Johnson just has Realbuto as far as QW left ( I also don't know how PJ would have 6 QW at 149). Assuming both win out, Parco will have 8 and Johnson will have 7 entering conferences. Even if QW is a tie, the coaches rank would need punish the B1G runner up for losing the #2 guy and reward someone without a top 10 win. NCAA seeding has been bizarre before so I will admit it could happen and shouldn't be written off, but it seems unlikely to me.
  9. I am only questioning his ability to jump the B1G runner up and get the 3 seed. He isn't currently above the top 3 B1G guys in QW, RPI or CR. Even if the bracket has more top 30 guys, with the bracket format, Johnson will only get 2 or 3 more QW. depending on his QF match. The B1G runner up will probably get 2 as well and finish above another top 4 ranked wrestler.
  10. 125 Minn dec. 3-0 133 Iowa dec. 3-3 141 Minn MD 7-3 149 Iowa dec. 7-6 157 Iowa dec. 7-9 165 Iowa dec. 7-12 174 Iowa dec. 7-15 184 Minn dec. 10-15 197 Iowa dec. 10-18 285 Minn MD 14-18. Iowa win the dual
  11. Initial lines are starting to come out. Lehigh -3.5 v. Penn PSU -20.5 v. OhSt Iowa -3.5 v. Minn
  12. I get he is undefeated at 149 but he will still be behind the 3 B1Gs guys on quality wins, coaches ranking, and RPI. The B1G runner up will probably get higher quality wins at the B1G tournament than he will get winning the B12 tourney. He will have winning% and higher place at the conference, which might put him above the B1G 3rd place finisher. The B1G runner-up could have to beat D'Emilo/Webster and one of the the other 3 to make the finals. I don't see the eye test of beating Realbuto justify jumping the B1G runner-up.
  13. I can only see the B1G 3rd dropping to 5th (and the drop from 4th to 5th isn't that big a deal as the quarter matchup is the same). McNeil has losses to Lovett and Parco so I can't see him jumping them. Johnson does not have a great resume at 149 this year, which I think is all the committee factors. Realbuto will probably be his best win and he may have to do it twice still. Realbutto losses to Lovett and McNeil prevent him from jump up in there. Maybe the Pac 12 champ can squeeze into the top 4 since they give conference champ weight but its tough to see multiple guys getting in front of the B1G 3rd.
  14. Ferrari went from OkSt to Iowa for a cup of coffee Kerk went from OkSt commit to OhSt student to PSU wrestler Suriano took the long road from PSU to Michigan Most notable was probably Mocco going from Iowa to OkST. Since it has happened before NIL, I imagine it will certainly happen again in this new era.
  15. He is obviously talking about the extra loss to Henson that no one else wrestled, not another (3rd) loss to a conference opponent.
  16. Changing the topic from Terry's antics (don't care) to in match coaching. In the 2nd period of the Pinto/Kennedy match, Kennedy has a decent ride but it just controlling Pintos hips, does not make any attempt to turn Pinto and Terry is in the background just waiving his fist trying to induce a stalling call. It struck me as odd because after 20 points scored in the first and a stall ride on top, I didn't think a stall call was coming anytime soon and was surprised the coach was trying to induce a stall call as opposed to yelling coaching advise. And for the record, I think Terry is the best lightweight coach in the country. It just seems college coaches (not just Terry/Iowa) think their value add is to ride officials for calls more than coach their guys.
  17. The craziest part is they also kicked a future national champ off their team for burglary but kept these guys on the team.
  18. This is 100% correct. Even if he can beat Plott, he still not beating Star or Keck. Keep him in RS and get an extra year overlap with Bassett in the lineup. If Angelo has 2 dates, use them on both Minn and OSU duals.
  19. Good point on the bonus percentage coming down as they face better competition. Untimely, we will find out in March if either guy can improve on their Rd 12 finishes. Whether you think it was a good decision or bad for Pinto and Allred to cut down, I like that they made the decision in the off season and allowed their body a full season to acclimate. I personally hate when guys go up or down midseason.
  20. Agree 100% that the B1G seeding will play a big part in the NCAA seeding. All 3 could be #1 or #3 at B1G but whoever gets the #1 seed, probably makes the finals and then, even if he losses in the B1G finals, probably gets no worse than the #3 seed at NCAAs (with the 3rd place at B1Gs getting the 4 seed). If you do bring in non-B1G matches, then I think you have to look at total body of work. So if you are going to penalize Ridge for the Henson loss, I think you have to credit Parco's body of work over SVN body of work and give Parco the #1. If you only look at only wins then if probably comes down to Parco or Ridge for the #1 seed.
  21. Maybe I am in the minority but I was not shocked at all that the guys going down in weight wouldn't look as good in early December in their first few competitions at a new weight class. Both Pinto and Allred have a higher bonus percentage this year compared to last year so they have been more dominate. Having said that, Allred/Pinto may have been properly rated but Arnold and Kennedy were probably over rated. Kennedy's best win of the year is #13 Danny Wask and #30 Braunagel according to wrestletat. Arnold has now wrestled 4 guys in the top 20 on wrestlestat and has 1 takedown in regulation.
  22. I don't think I follow the logic in penalizing the guy who has wrestled a tougher schedule and was the only one to wrestle Henson, but it really only matters how they seed it at B1Gs and I don't have a clue how that will go.
  23. That is interesting. In the OSU/Minnn thread there seems to be talk that Davino is going at 133 for OSU. If I had access to Circa in my state I would be tempted to try and middle it.
  24. Late adds: Minnesota -3.5 v. Ohio State Rutgers-14.5 v. Maryland Michigan St +12.5 v. NW UNCO +7.5 v. SDSU Air Force +9.5 v Utah Valley Purdue -19.5 v. Wisc Ore St +3.5 v. Cal Poly Princeton +10.5 v. Cornell UNI -30.5 v. NDSU WV -6.5 v. Wyoming
  25. Smith dec. Cruz 3-0 Ayalya dec. Van Dee 3-3 Hardy MD Either guy 7-3 Ridge dec. Parco 10-3 Taylor dec. Estrada 13-3 Calendo dec. Minto 13-6 Kennedy dec. Pinto 13-9 Arnold dec. Allred 13-12 Buchanan MD McDaniel 13-16 Kueter MD Andrews 13-20 I think Pinto could have a shot to pull the upset, but that wouldn't change the result. As mentioned Parco is 2-0 vs. Ridge but if Ridge wrestles his match, I think he comes out on top. If he wrestles like he did in the dual last year, Parco can steal it.
