  1. Finals are re airing on ESPNU at the top of the hour for those who missed or in attendance.
  2. Damn. On a serious note, we should all wait until the all the information comes out before passing judgement/commenting. But on a not so serious note: I am sure they can land in Iowa City, maybe HWC can expand their coaching roster. No background checks necessary.
  3. I'll re post and bold since I guess my post was too long to read the whole thing: Whatever he was charged with is only what the DA thought they could prove beyond a reasonable doubt, it is not necessarily all that happened. That doesn't mean everything in a screenshot is true either. The truth is probably in the middle and as noted by others that is not a great place.

  5. Attendance was 16,855 for the finals. 95,245 overall (15,874/session). BOK capacity for center stage (similar to a finals set up) is 19K; Capacity for Arena Football (comparable to an 8 mat set up) is 16.5K. With the head table and extra floor space, etc, I assume the capacity might of been less than I stated above (center state/arena football capacity numbers) but there was certainly more than the usual amount of unused tickets every session, including the finals. For comparison PPG in Pittsburgh list the Arena Football capacity at 16.3K and the total attendance in 2019 was 109,405
  6. I don't know that they weren't "sold" but they were definitely all not used. I would guess that ticket brokers gobbled up the public tickets early and then tried to flip them for $1000+ profit but didn't get many people to bite. I think most of the unused tickets where in the upper bowl, but I think @jdowntown has the problem correct. My understanding was that the NCAA didn't allocate the schools tickets until late Feb/early March so even people who normally get tickets didn't know until late if they had tickets or how many and then throw in that Ticketmaster stops selling all session tickets altogether (so they can get fees on all 6 sessions individually), there didn't seem to really be a reasonable secondary market until very late. We looked Wednesday on ticketmaster/stubhub and it appeared the secondary market had finally come back down to reality.
  7. Both? Aren't there 3? If AJ is committing I would assume his legal case is about to be cleared up and he has been vetted by his future university so he knows he is getting admitted.
  8. Thoughts on Tulsa 1) I thought they did about as good as they could and all of the locals were very nice 2) The layout of the city was tough (not a lot of big hotels downtown, most bars/restaurants were a few blocks away), which made the Uber/Lyft a small challenge. But there were plenty of Bird/Lime scooters to get around downtown. 3) Attendance was not as high as normal. The upper level had a lot of empty seats every session, including for the finals, which I don't recall ever. It may have to do with OU/OSU being down, but I think they need to do something about how Ticketmaster sells tickets. They have gotten away from selling all session tickets to generate more fees. I understand holding tickets for the individual schools but the allotments got released very late and with scalpers jacking up the tickets for individual session and with Tulsa not being the easiest to get to for some, it seems people stayed home. 4) The BOK was a little worn down and concessions where subpar. Beer was cold though. 5) Wish they would put the mat assignment scores on the jumbo-tron. The team scores don't change enough to need to be constantly up there. Overall, Tulsa was not my personal favorite but it was fine. If NCAA's goes back to Oklahoma, I preferred OKC to Tulsa but I'll likely being going regardless.
  9. If Brooks and CStar win 4, then yes they are up there with the best. Will need to see how they finish (dominate) before determining who is the best against the other PSU legends. I don't put much weight into a 5th title since no one else got the opportunity. It's a good footnote but I don't think that alone should factor into legacy.

    Yanni

Exactly. I wish in the U.S the World Championships got the coverage that NCAA wrestling does, but it doesn't. I am also guessing if Yianni wanted all the hype, he could get it.

Yianni also didn't step on the line against Sasso and wasn't at CKLV like years past. I also don't think he mentioned on ESPN that he tore his ACL his freshman year so it didn't get the attention Spencer did. I do like Yianni and don't hold that against him, but if we are talking about self promotion and attention, he would probably be getting more of the spotlight if was participating in the bigger events this year. I am guessing he is focused on his goals and doesn't care about the attention that Spencer is getting.
  12. Some of these brackets may look "easy" because they don't have the accomplishments, yet. For example, most people view 2008 149 lb bracket the toughest of all time, but entering the tournament the 4 seed (Jordan Burroughs) had never AA, yet. Perhaps we should always look at these things 5 years after the fact? It doesn't help how you look at guys like Hidlay and Parker Keck..(sp?)..n who could be good enough to win an NCAA title at different weight or in a different year but are (likely) prevented because they are up against one of the all timers in Brooks.
  13. Jason Renteria missed wight in Cleveland (I believe) and one of the alternates was there and able to make weight. I have no idea how much time the alternate had to get notified and make weight but it has been done as as late as the morning of before.
  14. Elam had 8 minutes to find a way to score a TD and didn't take enough risk or wasn't good enough to put points on the board, why should he be allowed to pick neutral and subject fans to more boring neutral wrestling?
  15. Agree they should make the tweak. You shouldn't be allowed to choose neutral in the TB after they just wrestled 2 min OT in neutral.
  16. 125- Lee 133- RBY 141- Woods 149- Yianni 157- Robb 165- Carr 174- Starocci 184- Brooks 197- Nino 285- Parris
  17. The rule is not written as clear as you keep asserting (and I have never stated a rule should be ignored). The takedown rule has subjectively in the definition of reaction time. We just disagree on the application of the subjectivity.
  18. Please show me the rule that is written that he has to hold him there for a full second?? By that definition you will never have TD with :01 left of clock unless it is secured with :02 left on the clock. And if you believe that just because 2 officials don't overturn their own call means they applied the rule correctly, then you must believe there has never been a bad call ever.
  19. Here is the definition of reaction time: Reaction time is determined by each individual referee and is described only as a period of time that is not instantaneous Robb certainly had control inbounds for a period of time that is not instantaneous. The only subjective part (again, this is all subjective and not some made up "clear definition of control") is what is enough "reaction" time? There isn't a "reaction" from Levi that will prevent the TD (on his butt with Robb's arms locked around him), only the out of bounds will save him. I'm arguing that if there is a clear TD inbound and nothing can prevent the TD from occurring, it should be a takedown. If you believe Levi should be given some courtesy undefined amount of time to avoid the TD, regardless of how impossible it would be to achieve, and they went out of bounds before Levi could get said time then we will just have to agree to disagree.
  20. Please point me to this "clear written rule of definition of control" that you speak of.... This what referees do, apply the rules that don't cover every exact situation (the rule book would be 1000s of pages long) and apply them to the action they see. All I am arguing is that they should use common sense when APPLYING the rules. No one has stated they should ignore anything.
  21. No, my argument is the rule should be applied using common sense. I know, it's a crazy thought on the internet. If someone gets a clear TD with :01 left, its still a TD even if there wasn't enough time for reaction time. If there is clear TD inbounds but not enough reaction time before they go out of bounds it doesn't change the position or the control.
  22. While I understand the no reaction time argument, there needs to be common sense. Levi is on his butt with Robbs arms locked around his waist, there is no reaction that is going to help him avoid a TD except to roll over an pretend a wizzer has an impact. If they are in the center, Robb doesn't drag his feet/hips to stay in and and covers hips immediately and its 2! If we want to create action/scoring, you can't let the out of bounds save guys from "reaction time"
  23. Regardless of Hardy/Woods TD count. Based on their resume I think, Woods should be the #1 seed over AA.
  24. 141: #2 Real Woods (Iowa) dec. #4 Brock Hardy, 6-4 First period: Woods hits a head to the inside single but Hardy rolls through at the edge and no takedown. Great scramble but no points. Nebraska challenges that there was a takedown for Hardy. After review, a takedown and no near fall. Hardy leads 2-0 with 1:25 to go. Hardy locks up a cradle but Woods rolls through and gets a reversal to a tilt. Woods leads 8-2 after a two-point tilt and a four-point tilt but there's another Nebraska challenge. After review, reversal, and two near fall. The score stands at 4-2 with 29 seconds. Second period: Woods starts down and nearly shakes off Hardy but Hardy maintains position and is still on top. Woods rolls through and snags a reversal halfway through the period for a 6-2 lead. Woods attempts a couple of tilts but doesn't score any additional points. Third period: Neutral to start the period. Neither wrestler commits to any serious scoring attempts but Hardy gets to a leg with 20 seconds left and scores at the edge, but Real Woods wins 6-4. via: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/10387645-nebraska-vs-iowa-match-notes Woods 2 reversals and 2 NF: 6 Hardy: 2 TDs: 4
  25. Hardy and Woods have wrestled 14 minutes this season and the total TDs are: Hardy 2 Woods 1.
