I agree the ranking is odd but to me the bigger question is should we be ranking this many guys? I get that 33 guys make NCAAs (so we rank 32) but with only 77(6)? teams, that is ranking ~42% of the field. And like most bell curves there isn't a lot of separation between the middle guys. The difference is probably just as much schedule related (who has loses to whom). If Block and Singleton had swapped scheduled, they might have similar results and Block would be unranked. Of course the obvious reason is Flo is a business that relies on page views and subscriptions so putting a guy with Iowa singlet higher is probably better for business.

Face value for 1 session is not $190/ticket.

No

Okay, I am still confused. On OSU/Iowa BTN broadcast they list Gabe Arnold as undefeated but he MFF out of SS? Wrestlestat list his as undefeated but also shows the loss to Ferrari. I know it won't matter, but shouldn't he have 1 loss on the year?

You must be hyped for some elite mat wrestling this weekend!
-
Do you contribute to the team title at all or are you a starter who was either a non qualifier or went 0-2?
-
This thread is pointing out the inaccuracy not things are spot on! A+ casing. I haven't seen the movie but as mentioned this is common in all "based on a true story" movies and I was surprised the list was so short.
-
ACC and Big 12 finals have also been broadcast on cable TV
-
And more people watched the Iowa/PSU dual than the B1G Finals, both on BTN.
-
I am not so sure. I have attended 2 B1Gs tournaments and I am not sure I will ever go back. It is really a qualifier and that's how teams treat it. It's common to have forfeits in the finals, not to mention on the backside. I don't think a true National Duals any where close to the Individual tournament is realistic, but now that everyone's approach is the "only thing that matters is March (NCAAs)" the conference tournaments aren't as material. Heck, PSU has dominated college wrestling recently, but has only won 4 of the last 10 B1G tournament champions. No one really cares.

125: McCrone dec Cruz 3-0 133: Ayala dec Bouzakis 3-3 141: Mendez TF Block 8-3 149: Parco dec D'Emilio 8-6 157: Sasso dec Estrada 11-6 OR 157: Teemer dec. Sasso 8-9 165: Caliendo MD Gallagher 11-10 OR 8-13 174: Kennedy dec Kharchla 11-13 or 8-16 184: Arnold dec Rogotzke 11-16 or 8-19 197: Buchanon MD Shumate 11-19 or 8-22 285: Feldman dec Kueter 14-19 or 11-22 IA Video person: Iowa FALL OSU (kid didn't even record 1 state champ in HS and now is in over his head in the B1G) 157 and 174 are the toss ups that I picked IA in those but OSU could win and then it would come down to bonus points (each team would win 5)

The top teams bring legitimacy to the event. if the top 2 teams don't attend, the champs can call themselves whatever they want, it will be held in the same regard as the Navy Classic, MSU Open, Black Knight Open champs.

Yes, and in theory it's fine. It just doesn't seem like reality for a combat sport like wrestling vs a country club sport like golf. Coaches don't want to hold a dual tournament January, they are not signing off on a dual tournament a week or so after NCAAs.
-
I don't know that it will become "popular" but I think it has the chance to get more exposure from casual fans than the individual tournament. For example, It looks like more people watched the PSU/Iowa dual on BTN than the B1G championship last year https://ustvdb.com/networks/btn/shows/b1g-wrestling/ Having said that I don't want to change anything with the individual tournament, but I think there is merit that it could create more exposure. You would basically get the diehards and few casual fans of the teams competing but not enough that it would be "popular"

Can I make a counter counter point? Yes, your teammates can't help you on the mat, but they do help you more in the practice room and maybe more than other team sports like basketball or baseball. Your workout partners probably had more impact on your success than a baseball player who watches his teammate hit a home run. I would also agree that the when you have a dominant wrestler like Carter that the scoring isn't too top heavy but I don't think that is the case at most weights every year. For example, I don't think Richie Figs was 3 times as dominant as Jore Volk last year. Tournament scoring is top heavy. Last year, Cornell finished 2nd with 3 AAs and Nebraska finished 9th with 5 AAs. Likewise, dual scoring probably compresses the difference too much. A double OT win via riding time is worth 3 points while a 14 point win is only worth 1 additional team points.

I must of missed this as well. I thought people were critical of Brooks because they perceived his remarks as anti-Muslim more than just praising god. It seems very common for athletes in all sports to praise Jesus Christ, not sure who is arguing otherwise.
-
Sure you don't need every team to make a great event but it really helps if you have the best team/wrestlers. Right now, CKLV is the best in-season individual tournament and it typically occurs first weekend of December (2 weeks after the proposed National Duals Invite). Curious if teams will go to both or choose one over the other. CKLV could also move dates.

Normally for the doubleheaders, a beer or two during the first dual and then a nice whiskey/bourbon during the 2nd dual.
-
It was good run Pitt-Johnstown. Their Cinderella story ends before the top 5.

I understand this argument but this luck/variance is also the case in other sports as well. For example, NCAA basketball has buzzer beaters that determine who advances every year, a ball bounces a different way and a different team wins. PSU had a cornerback fall down that lead to a big TD for ND in the semifinal game that swung momentum and possibly the game. I think it is just rare for wresting fans since the double elimination individual tournament has some built in protections for variance/luck.
-
Yep, I think the correct line would be O/U 1 win. Okay, lets say the ~0.1% happens and Nebraska is up 15-0. How much will PSU win by ? My guess is would end 21-15 PSU.
