  1. Well... because he won an Olympic Medal... (How is that for a circular argument?)
  2. Couldn't and didn't are two different things.
  3. College Wrestling by its nature results in monopolies as well even with regulations. In the last 30 years, every championship team has repeated at least once with the only exceptions being Minnesota in 2007 and Ohio State in 2015 to not win back to back titles. (Iowa in 2021 as well but they were the overwhelming favorite in 2020). You could also argue the RTCs and the HWC (pre RTCs) were unregulated with regard to the impact on the NCAA team.
  4. I would also add the NCAA Wrestling Tournament is the greatest event in all of wrestling and you only get 4 chances (usually) to ever do it. Ono won a world title in front of 1,000 people and took one look at NCAAs and said, I want to do THAT without every having wrestled a folkstyle match. Heck, as Dake and Gillman showed, you don't even have to wrestle at PSU to go train at NWLC and achieve world level success. If these guys want to go be room guys and be apart of a winning team, then good for them. I hope it gets them whatever they want in life and they don't have any regrets.
  5. Then we would just go back to slush funds and bag men to exceed the salary cap. At the end of the day, it's better if its a free market. A lot of the issues we are seeing will work themselves out over a longer period of time.
  6. What's the best way to get a job post-graduation (the whole point of going to college)? If you are leaving wresting, it probably doesn't matter. If you want to be a wrestling coach, being a multiple time AA may look better than PSU room guy. If Mikey Labriola or Tony Cassioppi went to PSU to just get better at wrestling, are they currently assistant coaches in the B1G?
  7. We just watched it. PSU won 2 matches. The other schools top guys won the other 8.
  8. PSU fans really bending themselves in a pretzel trying to distinguish Iowa's poaching from their own. Deal was done before he entered the portal = poaching. "No babe, its not cheating because she threw herself at me, what I am supposed to do, tell her I like me situation at home, not possible"
  9. Seriously?
  10. It was one line in a 13 minute/interview video... I have no clue why PSU fans/former wrestlers want to keep talking about it. The sooner this dies the better I would think. I don't know why the tiniest of smoke keeps getting oxygen from the team allegedly accused.
  11. Is AJ being in your corner a good thing or bad thing when discussing steroid allegations....
  12. My take is that it was an accusation and not a general possible/probable comment.
  13. There weren't message boards during Iowa's run (that I am aware of) so it's tough to judge as I don't know how fans communicated except in person. But, anytime an Iowa wrestler lost at NCAAs, the entire arena cheered except for the Iowa section. It felt like everyone was against Iowa.
  14. It's tough to argue with guys who have actually wrestled in the tournament:
  15. ^^^THIS^^^ BUT even the Greatest Mind in Wrestling's Crystal Ball has Nebraska's 7 returning qualifiers to score less points than they achieved this year with only 1 guy placing higher than his 2025 finish.
  16. Well they did try to use Burwickkkk at 133
  17. Remember, DK is pricing in an advantage for them, so ideally if they don't get hit with a bunch of bets at once, they don't have any exposure and will make a profit no matter who wins. So while everyone who bet Nebraska to finish 2nd at +600 made a good amount of money. Everyone else who bet Iowa to finish top 3 (or even 2nd) lost more than than the money they had to pay out. I don't know how they effects the implied odds but I suspect it might be the disconnect.
  18. Spencer Moore and McNeil in the portal... Doesn't appear great from the outside.
  19. When he added the "wink, wink" comment it was more than just a general statement.
  20. The one who protests too much, methinks... I don't think Nolf is helping as much as he is probably trying. There is no way he or anyone can say with certainly that no one at any school is not taking a PED. I still don't think there is much substance to this baseless allegation but Nolf's comment is starting to make me more suspicious. If someone made a baseless claim about AJ, would he still be out here saying no one at all is doing it????
  21. Hopefully Gable finds what he is looking for in life. I would think he could make a decent amount from an RTC and gain endorsements, but he seems to want something else. It's tough to get great at something if you don't stick with it. I am glad he came back for another year of wrestling but I don't think it made him a better football player.
  22. The fact that Fix was popped by WADA and not the NCAA suggest the NCAA testing is weaker/easier to beat. Valencia was also busted by WADA and not NCAA (allegedly a street drug not a PED), Brooks's positive was also in WADA but permitted because of his prescription. Lance Armstrong never was popped either. That sport was notorious for doping but rarely had guys get popped. Now, I don't think that means a lot wrestlers, including Kasak are doing roids. It just suggest that the WADA testing is more strict than the NCAA, nothing more. Unfortunately for Kasak, whether he has ever touched a drug of any kind will never be settled on a message board but it will hang out there. I watched the whole 13+ min interview and found Meyer to be very candid about his seizures, hospitalization, weight, training leading up Ivys. Its too bad he made the comment about Roids and that is all anyone is talking about.
  23. It doesn't help VT that Henson made the finals with no bonuses and then lost a close one. I wouldn't say underachieved. Interesting fact to me at least: Caleb Henson made the finals and lost 1-0. He scored less team points than 7 of the PSU wrestlers. All but three of the 3rd place finishers (Bassett, Ramos, and AJ) scored more points than Henson.
  24. My random thoughts about Ono Ono will be 22 at next years NCAA Championships PSU won't need his team points to win NCAAs next year. He only adds about 5-10 more points to their total than if Davis or Nagao go. So this move allows Davis to redshirt, which doesn't seem necessary, but may help him get a title in his RS Sr year. If Ono wants to wrestle for you, I don't know how you turn it down.
