  1. Oh...yeah, no, that is most certainly the type of thing that comes up in a good book. I was just reading a biography of FDR and it talked about how he was a "smegma" male and...how he produced a discharge that would become a white creamy substance! WTF are you reading, brochures from your Dr? That's...some insane nonsense. And yes, I'm very insecure about that thing I'd never heard of and didn't know it existed until you just threw it out there like it was a common problem.
  2. No...he didn't. He looked taller maybe, not nearly as thick.
  3. I guess there's different builds, pasty white guys don't usually look as defined. This...isn't meant to be racist, but you look better when you're tan right? So black guys for instance look bigger. But Kharchla also has always been a tank. Haines jumped up from '57. I know he was also really sucking down. Kasak on the other hand was still a '41 even during what was set to be a RS year. But, Kharchla also came down from '65(and even '74 I thought). He's a big dude also. Shapiro also looks like I did in 6th grade. I was about 6' tall in 6th grade, ~150 and very little muscle...obviously. That's a kid who should...take a year off of school, spend some time with iron andlet his brain heal and then come back as a '74. His movement and instincts are incredible, but you also have to make grown men do things they don't want to do...and that's easier when you're stronger than those grown men(or least close). '57 should have been Kasak and Shapiro. That was the 2nd more obvious 1-2 matchup of the tourney...IMO. Guess not.
  4. The only thing I'd consider doing is making stalling a stronger point of emphasis. Fleeing and stalling. OR maybe you make it two different types of stalling. You get stuck in a position and get a 5 count while riding, that's a technical stalling. If you're refusing to engage on your feet, that can be...well, refusal to engage and maybe 1 warning, 1 point and then 2 points. If you're circling at the end, tell refs to call that. So dropping in on a leg on top or getting kinda stuck in that position is a different than avoiding action. I don't know how you could clean that up and make it work, but...ya know, something like that.
  5. People are so eager to make the refs decide these matches. So you take two guys who are attacking...Barry and Buchanan and no score, you give someone a point? And I'm sure they're in favor of the pushout rule(the actual pushout, not backing straight off. Some people are never pleased!
  6. Yeah...you're ...kinda right. I mean, he was at 141 to start last year(barely beating David Evans 2-1 TB), but...whatever. He's at an age where he can fill out and that's usually so much better for Wrestlers rather than to keep cutting. It's in poor taste to speculate. Though...I will speculate he gets WELL over 160. He's not just cutting 3 pounds or he'd have taken a RS and let Facundo Wrestle. He's one of the bigger '57's in the Country....and last years '57 is a big '74.
  7. And he should have been a 141 last year. That was his weight but Bartlett was there. I remember being told by a trainer and dietician that...just about the max of pure, actual musce fiber you cn I don't know if that's a hard and fast rule and Kasak was still young, so maybe he went through a bit of a growth spurt AND he did all the lifting and I have no doubt he did it better than I did, had a trainer changing up his program every 6 weeks to shock his muscles... But man, he looks SO much different than the 138 pound kid... You can also be sucking weight and not feeding your body what it needs and then when you start and you lift seriously, you can make big jumps. Msot of these guys are huge, so...again, don't want to single anyone out(but I realize I kinda am).
  8. **And yes, this is as serious as I'll ever take a Jimmy thread!
  9. Mitchell Mesenbrink? (I said what I said). But really, lets also add finalists. Just how hard it is to go through the grind 5 YEARS in a row. In this other thread about where he ranks...and i don't have a strong opinion, I just find the "he's too conservative," argument to be disingenuous and then the "if you'd have given the other 4X Champs another year, they would have won." Yeah, lets stop assuming that sans Cael. There is just TOO much talent and you had a loaded weight class and you had Parker Keckiesen. He wrestled an absolute STUD in McEnelly. Keckisen had 7 losses, all at the NCAAs but for one loss to Brooks(I believe). 3rd-Lost to Aaron Brooks(4X Champ) 6-4 3rd-Lost to Bernie Truax(3X 4th, 5th) 6-5 came back and beat him. 2nd-Lost to Hidlay(2/5/4/2)beat him 3 weeks later) Brooks in the finals 1st-Majored 2 TFs, 3 Majored Plott 14-5 in the finals, undefeated Lost to Carter Starocci TWICE Meanwhile you have guys like Spencer Lee, GABLE Stevenson, Yiannis lost his Sr year to Gomez, Stieber lost to Retherford, Smith had 6-5 matches or very close matches enroute to his 4th Title, but...is he beating him the next year? Dake...AWESOME Wrestler, but he did lost 4X Starocci really went 105-2 and loss to Washington in his first match. He's won that...7, 8X since. He lost as a Freshmen in the B1Gs to a guy who went 3/4/2/4 and then beat him for his first title. You're NOT guaranteed to win again as we've seen...arguably the best HWT in NCAA History AND arguably the best 125er who lost in their final years. To dominate and not really come close to losing in his final 4 years...I think he's getting the attention, but not the respect. If ever there should be a split Hodge winner, it should be he and Wyatt(with Wyatt given the edge, but the Hodge IS a career achievement award just like the Heisman is an offensive award despite be the "best player" in the Country. Starocci will get the credit he deserves, but I don't think it'll come for a few years.
  10. I'm just curious, but why would that be? Did he enter a university in Japan and that starts his clock?
  11. Is this just a thing? Because that has dawned on me...multiple times in the past few weeks. You look at him as a 138 who was supposed to be a '41 pounder, went '49 because SVN got hurt. Now he's a big '57 and he's got so much acne he needs blood time. But I don't like to do...exactly what I just did and throw out aimless accusations or claims...
  12. Well, I can't in many languages, but I have become pretty adept at English...so I guess I'd just say..."Gable Stevenson is the #1 HWT FS wrestler." Now if you want it in Mandarin or Russian, I would NOT be able to say that, but in English? By the way, have you heard what's going on with Ono? I remember someone telling me it was "mass Folkstyle delusion." Maybe that's new to the DSM-5, but...I don't know, they must have been an expert. In any event...Ono, now enrolled at PSU. Wonder if it's just coincidence that he's...enrolled at the school of his idol with the best RTC in the USA? Hey, maybe he just watches Soc 119 and REALLY wanted to be there in person?
  13. Ok...so not so much that DTs first tournament was the most memorable, but the most impactful? Well...in that respect, that's the most impactful thing that's happened to Wrestling in the last few years. I'd also say Ono enrolling at PSU is going to be WAY up there. Still waiting for clarification on that one, but if he's actually Wrestling at PSU...he's a 4X Champ at '33, right? You lose Bartlett, Starocci and Kerk, you bring in Blaze, Ono, Ryder, Duke and Mirasola(s)...though I wonder if PSU hits up the portal for a HWT transfer. BUT...with Forrest and Ross(who I think is an absolute beast) coming the following year and seeing how DT can elevate his Wrestlers, I think given 2-3 years to recruit and he could be competitive with PSU. When Cael went to PSU, I thought they'd...be what they are(not this good, but dominant). DT is similar, but you're not in the most talent rich state. So I agree, the thing that will have the longest lasting impact is DT.
  14. I won't. Who do you think watched the NCAAs to get a glimpse of Trump? You can see him ALL the time. He is the President. I mean, of all the Wrestling fans and big matchups, you really think there was a substantial difference because we saw 3 seconds of him waiving? I think THAT would be TDS. Thinking there was some big jump just to catch the sight of him on TV? I DO think a guy like Hendrickson doing THAT in front of the President...it adds something to it. I can't say I'm a fan, but I am a fan of the office and I liked the Flag. Seemed more fitting of the Olympics OR...say a guy from Air Force who is committing years to his Country... But mostly, I think Trump's presence was irrelevant in the interest about the event...incredible wrestling and what a great weekend it was. Do you think more people watched the SB to see him for a minute? He's not Taylor Swift(which...can't say I really get the allure their either). I'm a little...disappointed we just had the weekend we all wait for(on the College side) and it feels like there's a lot of negativity and complaining in other threads or bickering.
  15. I get what you're saying, but I remember 2010 for...Max Askren finally breaking through and winning a title or Metcalf getting his first(maybe 2nd, it's been a while). Oh and then there was some Freshmen who had a good tournament at 141 and...not sure what became of him...but I recall that year for THOSE events more so than the Cael debut at PSU!
  16. They were absolutely all on the same page and rolling. And...they have 5 top 100 recruits coming in, a Freshmen at '97 and they only lose...Smith at '25 and then...Hardy?
  17. Oh...please, lets not go down this road. I don't love the last person you mentioned, but I've seen no correlation between the prior. I have not noticed a 'set' of opinions with Burroughs, Starocci, Stevenson, DC and Rock. I like some, others less. Please just hide this or keep it to the other sub. There are people who think Starocci is a boring Wrestler and they ALL hate Ferrari. There are some who think JB is obnoxious and are big Starocci fans. You're just finding black athletes who people have critiqued, doing the Trump/internet thing where you infer it's the SAME people who don't like Burroughs becuse he said he'd go after Starocci's knee(which is because they are PSU fans who love Starocci). The takes are FAR more nuanced than this, this was an awesome night of Wrestling. Lets...end the Trump stuff here, killed the racist stuff or at least move it to off-topic.
  18. UW isn't hiring Askren to be their head coach...he doesn't want to be a HC. He WOULD like to coach more Sr level Wrestlers...presumably because he's developed...multiple Wrestlers who could compete at the Sr Level and medal. Great High School coaches have taken jobs at the next level, right? So...you suck it up for 2 more years, let John watch Mitchell tech and pin his way to being a 3X NC who was mistaken about a RT point away from matching Cael, THEN...after finding a wealthy benefactor who is willing to donate 10-15M to the Wrestling program you; 1-Hire John Mesenbrink #1 Assistant-Mitchell Mesenbrink...doesn't really need to be explained #2-Zach Tanelli #3-I don't know, find a big guy RTC-Askren steps back in there. He can keep AWA going and growing and you can entire Buchanan, Keckiesen, O'Toole would be back, Mesenbrink, in the future, Sinclair, Millard, Scholes, maybe the Mirasola(s), Clark and...several others. John Mesenbrink has gotten more out of less than anyone in HS and he got more out of more than anyone as well. He's not controversial, he'd be a big name and he basically ran a College Style program at Arrowhead. I remember hearing how they'd have morning workouts. ~1 or so of conditioning before school. Practices would be 3 hours long at night. They'd have a lot of kids quit, but the kids that didn't...you'd have kids who came out of nowhere and were 30-15 knocking off returning champs and winning State Titles. I also remember one year, Jake Sueflohn, a stud who seemed to always be in a tough weight at the NCAAs, but he was at the same weight at Jessie Thielke, one of the greatest HS Wrestlers in Wisconsin history(he gave him his only loss with a great game plan) and he also beat Alex Dieringer that year when those 3 were 3 of the best in the Country, but Sueflohn was considered the clear #3. Chances of that happening? Probably about the same as the legal BAC in Wisconsin, .08, but...you could turn it around real quickly and appease everyone. But I can't imagine John would do it while Mitchell is dog walking the field at 165.
  19. Now post my "hidden agenda?"
  20. Yeah, I don't believe they won't take 5X into consideration(this is my "hidden agenda). And he's never won it. I'd probably cop out and split it...but if it HAS to be one guy...the guy who pulled off...maybe a top 5 upset all-time(As in EVER sport) and the biggest in College Wrestling? At the very least, the OW should be as clear as day. Normally, beating a guy like Keckeisen would be the biggest Win, but that may have been 3rd here... And people are talking about how this is the biggest since Karelin, but...I think this is bigger. Rulon lost because he adjusted his grip. Wyatt just went out and BEAT Gable. Finished clean and then rode him out. Of course I've argued Slay-Saitiev was a bigger upset, but that's just me.
  21. This feels like trolling... No shot anyone believes Gable was paid to lose.
  22. I don't know so much about world views...I don't actually beleieve that Carter has that Mesenbrink 'process over results,' approach, but Hendrickson being the Air Force guy is pretty equal. I said Hendrickson would get my vote...but you point out it's not about Pins and...now you have "hidden agendas!" (I am actually a deep state agent working to convince people with no actual say in the award that I'd give it to Hendrickson only to fool them into thinking Starocci SHOULD win it...if I'm being honest...but I don't want to blow my cover!)
  23. Because it wasn't the first thing that came up when I posted it? LOL...why don't YOU tell ME why I didn't post that? What hidden agenda other than saying I'D give it to Hendrickson, but that Pins are not THE criteria? By all means, please enlighten me as to this "hidden agenda?"
  24. That's a "Janky" website? And...yes, OBVIOUSLY I copy and pasted. Why not take it directly from the source.
