Norman from Stanford is long and a stud and he nearly beat O'Toole, but he gassed. Probably because he just walked out of Dachau to make 174, so I'd guess he goes up. There are others who are obvious, but I'm forgetting, and then there's the guy who s IMO, the favorite to win it the next couple years, the Freshmen who was a short and curly hair away from beating both Keck and Starocci this year. In fact, all that should get Sinclair to go 174. I know he doesn't like cutting, but he's nowhere NEAR as big as any of those guys...

You then pointed to the difference in each coaches tenure which...I don't find all that compelling for the reasons I gave and then we ended up back here. As I said from the start, they could easily frame this as Tom Ryan, who is pretty older for a Wrestling coach...about the same age as John Smith, retiring and they could go with the guy who has had a ton of success, is an Olympic and World Champ and...in this case wrestled for Ohio State. So no, I'm not telling you that. I'm telling you people have speculated about it. I CAN tell you that Coleman Scott was brought in as the heir apparent after there were..."issues" between Smith and Esposito that go beyond the mat but when Okie State had the chance to make a bigger hire, they did so.

Isn't that pretty much what David Taylor is? I don't really think you need a loud coach. At least for Wrestling. Just one who commands respect, people want to Wrestle for and who is qualified. Even Casey Cunningham. I know that's kinda rolled into the PSU thing, but most programs would hire him. He seems pretty laid back. I feel like either type of HC can win, but you're looking more at the older school, Gable, JR Robinson, even John Smith...and it seems like the younger HCs are pretty reserved. Would you say Schwab is a louder coach?

That's why my old coach said. He was Wrestling an Iowa guy and...I don't recall where they were Wrestling, but it wasn't an Iowa friendly crowd. He got hit with...a BAD stall call vs the #2 see in the final 10-20 seconds(I've seen the tape, but it's not exactly HD). That made it 4-4(or maybe 5-5, but it tied it). He said he heard the whole plays erupt in boos and he looked around to see what happened. Like maybe someone was getting pinned or whatever. And then he realized, it was...him and his match. So...I'd bet it was probably even more animosity vs PSU. I'm at the point with PSU where I'm not a fan, but how can you not just marvel at what they're doing? Going into the this years tournament, the one guy I didn't think had a chance to win a Title...was the defending National Champ. I didn't THINK Davis would. I did pick Barr 2nd and he damn near won it, but...the other 8? Who'd have been a surprise? I'm more surprised they DIDN'T win at '57, '74, mildly surprised they didn't win at '25 and I really thought Van Ness would win. It is a joke at this point. That '26 class is as good of a top 3 as we've seen in a while, so if this kid is the 4th rated recruit...I don't know much about him, but guessing he's solid! They're already gonna have trouble getting Duke, Henkel, Cunningham into the lineup, now this kid. I'm honestly waiting to see Sadulaev and Taz decide 'we want very much become American students.' Sad cuts to '97, Taz...well, I'm thinking he can wrestle at ~225 and do just fine. Cael won't quite until they go 10-10. National Champs, every weight!

Well...33 years vs 30 years overall They're also about the same age but John Smith is maybe the greatest Wrestler in American History, he had won 5 Team Titles, won 2 himself(the family success also relevant as Pat was a 4X NC under John) and he...pretty much as been the face of Oklahoma State Wrestling for the past almost 40 years. Tom Ryan Wrestled at Iowa, he won a Title at Ohio State and has had a great deal of success but...if you're telling me that John Smith can be pushed out of the way at Okie State, but Tom Ryan can't at Ohio State in favor of a younger, bigger name as their program stagnates(which I'm not even saying they have, but...they're not gaining ground and they have a LOT of resources they've put into the program)...I'd be skeptical.

Oh damn...I forgot about Millard. To be honest, I just got bored working backwards, so...I stopped, but yeah, that'd be great. Millard was the guy I thought was JUST a shade behind Sinclair, Hopke and the Mirasola's. Though...Hopke kinda went and looked a bit disappointing the last few times I saw him. How's he looking? He was so good and so slick, but he looked like he hadn't physically matured yet. He put on some good weight this past year?

I would venture to guess the same was said about John Smith at Okie State. They don't have to frame it as him being fired. They can frame it as the good old "spending more time with his family."

Kids when they think about who they'd want to Wrestle for, they're laid back and get guys ready, they view it as a game, but they also get the most out of you. They're strict with drinking and partying. My GUESS would be they're both mature enough to know the real rule is...don't be an embarrassment. But David Taylor...back in Ohio...with those facilities? The 2nd best Wrestling State in the Country and a team RIGHT NOW that's stacked and set up to be a top 3 team next year before they pick up a...Facundo to Wrestle '57/'65 for them and probably another high AA or two to fill out their roster, a roster bringing Welsh back into the lineup and where Feldman is likely the favorite, where you had a Freshmen at '97... Programs in the best shape right now for the next 5 years are, in order, PSU, Iowa, Okie State JUST barely behind Iowa and then Ohio State. When David Taylor was hired at Okie State, I'd say it was PSU, Ohio State, Iowa and then Cornell, Iowa State, maybe Minnesota and then possibly Okie State. Taylor has made a huge jump at Okie St. Add Jax Forrest and the Dreshaun Ross to the lineup in 2 years as Feldman and Mendez are graduating? It'd be ridiculous. And that's assuming LaDarion Lockett, Landon Robideau and Sergio Vega don't flip and go with Taylor. I know what you're saying, there's no guarantees, but...he was as close as you can get.

I didn't question his "clutch gene," though...I thought he could have beaten Parris. He just always seemed so physically gifted, he looked disinterested. I didn't know he was badly hurt, so I thought the Hendrickson loss was the result of a 'well, if I win, I've just got Gable anyway,' IN PART. I didn't think he was saying this, but kinda in the back of your head. Looking at his career and what he's all done, it's all the more impressive to see how he's performed if he's dealt with knee injuries yearly.

Yeah...I personally think they'll just say..."well, guess we got top this years performance." I don't even find it that...hard to imagine. What is their lineup likely to be next year? 125-Lillednahl -I'll take him as my early favorite. 133-Ono -A World Champion? Crookham is going to have to take him down or take top to beat him...IMO. 141-Blaze-legit NC potential, but I'll say top 5 149-SVN-Top 3 and if he Wrestles a little smarter, NC 157-Kasak-NC 165-MM-NC 174-Haines-NC 184-Barr-top 6(this is just such a tough weight 197-Mirasola or Ryder HWT-Sadulaev was talking about enrolling, but I think it's going to be Taz as of now...Sad they said could come, but he'd have to get used to wrestling 92KG so he can make the cut to '97 more easily as Taz is going to go HWT.... 125-184 all have LEGITIMATE chances to win 197-HWT, both lose a lot of guys, but I don't know what the Mirasola twins will do. Outside of Ono, Duke and Blaze...which is the greatest class most schools ever have, they have like 6 other kids in the top ~45. Just...ridiculous.

You COULD absolutely go Kyle Snyder though and ...that'd be an outstanding hire and I think you'd just get the best of all worlds. 1-Outside Jordan Burroughs, nobody is a bigger name...in my opinion. The ONE guy that was...he was the guy you should have found the keys to whatever Brinks Truck you have and backed it up for. I mean, a St Parris guy...who is REAL similar to Cael in terms of style, more accomplished, maybe a better MFS Wrestler, I won't say the BEST Wrestler from Ohio ever, but lets just say the best since...2000. 2-He wrestled for Ryan...he is maybe the best Wrestler in Ohio State History...you could at least argue going 3/1/1/1 as a small HWT and '97 with J'den Cox and Gadsen is as good as Stieber(but you really don't have to as you're not making a ranking, just hiring a guy). 3-He's got the best of both Worlds. He was there with Stieber, OSUs last title, in fact, I think he clinched it, but he's also spent years under Cael at the NLWC(even if that's not "technically" under Cael). 4-His style works for...every weight. Side rant-The "funk," and passing the leg and all that, it's essential in modern Wrestling. BUT, the issue I have is so many guys, when they have the TD stopped, they go from Heavy Hips and just stuffing the guy, MAYBE even go to a front head and look for an angle and catch that leg and do a basic, simple, boring go behind. But what guys do, and it seems like it happens in SO many late TDs, they stop a shot, they have the guy stretched out and then instead of just basic keeping the head stuffed, heavy hips, wearing them out and trying to break that lock, they want to end up head to ankle and scrambling and now that's a 50/50 position...and I understand if you have a guy flat and you start digging that leg out with their head trapped inside like Jaggers and Askren, now Hardy and Lovett do, but when the head is outside, it just drives me nuts.... But most importantly, he keeps his feet moving, hands on, constantly attacking or moving forward, in and out, shot fake, shot fake, shot, low single, hi-c, double, he's won at the highest levels with that approach. (Edit-I just re-reading this for my inevitable spelling mistakes or typos and this made me think of Carter Starocci. Just always in position and coming at you). --I would think you'd be looking at the '28 games as Snyder's last run, so Ryan gets a few more years with a loaded class and now he can go out with Davino, Welsh, Feldman, several other studs and now Kyle Snyder takes over the Flagship school for the 2nd best state when it comes to pumping out Wrestling talent. And at that point, I'd be looking at bringing Jason Nolf with me and keeping Logan Stieber. Hell, by then, Davino may be a great Grad assistant for the little guys or Luke Lillendahl. Maybe Nolf works with the RTC, I don't know. But you add credibility on all levels and Tom Ryan retires having won a NC at Ohio State, getting a new facility built and that program in as good of shape as it could be. The other two...most obvious options would be Taylor. Now in fairness, it would be kinda like Cael to take a job and push aside the guy who has a long history with that school(Bobby Douglas=Coleman Scott in this case) and then leave after a few years for that big paycheck and the easier job with more Wrestling AND it's so much easier to transfer, he wouldn't have to have a class wait like the Va Tech 5 did or RS like he did when he followed Cael, but I think he's really building something there and will have little interest in leaving. The other choice is Jordan Burroughs and I don't see him being a better option at Ohio State because...he's a Jersey kid who wrestled at Nebraska. I think he'd do great, maybe he joins Kyle as well or in place of Nolf and he runs the RTC, but...these are simple and easy changes if you have ~10M to get you started and you can get a few million a year...and most programs like that can(there are like...4 programs like that, PSU, Iowa, Okie St and Ohio State and MAYBE Iowa St). So...yeah, that's what I'd do, that's why I'd do it. Lots of details to be ironed out. Maybe Luke Lillendahl or Marcus Blaze is part of your RTC and coaching the lightweights by then, but that's the vision I'd have and I'd be looking at if...literally anyone cared what I thought Ohio State should do...and I doubt most people will have even read this far, so that...that is not likely to be a large number!
