  1. I remember I was walking around the far side of the mats from this mat for some reason. What a roar from the Ohio U crowd!
  2. You have a life? BTW- do you know what time the releases happen today?
  3. Not sure what forum but ... https://www.facebook.com/reel/413521131007873
  4. They sent him to get 1. He doesn't need the RPI. He has the WL needed and getting a bout in the last 30 days will get him on the Coaches Poll.
  5. 13. Match against McGonagle doesn't count for these purposes.
  6. Nothing definitive that I could see but Lovett was obviously trying to push him out rather than trying to take him down. In freestyle, I believe Lovett would have gotten the step out point. I didn't notice his arms being extended which would negate it.
  7. Same area? Yes. District XI (Lehigh Valley). Crookham- Notre Dame GP/Saucon Valley. Chlebove- Northampton.
  8. I think on his recruiting trip the kids were taking him through the apartment they lived in. As they got through the kitchen Mike Galante pointed him to a frying pan sitting there and asked if he could roll it up. He could. It turned out it was a gift to Brian Tanen from Brian's mother.
  9. I'll give you a couple of reasons that I've heard over the years as to why Pa is so good. 1. Back in the day (40s-50s in particular) the top 4 wrestling colleges in the state sent their coaches out to local high schools to give clinics as the sport was in its HS infancy. Those areas where the colleges were became the states hot spots. One might surprise you. In no particular order- A. Western Pa (WPIAL)- Pitt (Rex Peery) B. North Central Pa- Penn State (Doc Speidel) C Eastern Pa- Lehigh (Sheridan/Leeman) D. South Central Pa- F&M (Believe it or not- they were among the top teams in the country back in the day) (Uncle Charley Mayser) 2. The State College system. Used to be known as the State Teachers Colleges. Several of them have dropped over the years. The PSAC was never a qualifying conference but the league tournament was one of the best in the country. So what would happen is that a kid would wrestle in HS, go to one of these colleges to wrestle and to become a teacher. Would get a job as a teacher and a coach and the cycle would continue in an upward motion.
  10. I tried to have McGonagle called the New Hampster. Didn't work out for some reason.
  11. Burley same college credentials as Mocco.
  12. It's possible for two things to be true at once!
  13. I believe I can explain why- not sure I could come up with names/year. I was working the event- I believe this was in the 90s. At the time we had a prescribed formula for assigning anklet colors. It was largely based on uniform/school colors. I think we did a 1-5 where 1 was red going out to 5 being green. Then we'd compare the colors and the more red would wear red. If it was tied the top wrestler got red. I'm pretty sure the one school was Nebraska. The other might have been Minn or Wisc. Reddish but still a 1. The formula assigned Nebraska green because it was bottom on the bracket. There was confusion about a stall call and they couldn't resolve it so they rewrestled.
  14. I'm saying he just has to place high enough to qualify. In a sense he'd be stealing someone else's auto-qual.
  15. All he needs to compete are enough successful bouts at EIWAs.
  16. I didn't realize it happened and certainly didn't know the names without looking them up but the one tip I'll give is that it helped to know what years to look for.
  17. Let's be serious- dual is short for dual meet. Duel has no real place in this discussion. Bicycle is also a noun. Doesn't have anything to do with this either. (Other than a means to train)
  18. You probably say Taylor Ham instead of Pork Roll- or worse yet- you don't know either term!
